00:00 Well, for three quarters, I thought it was pretty good complimentary football.
00:05 Fourth quarter, Taysom Hill took it over and they completely outplayed us in the fourth
00:09 quarter.
00:10 But, you know, early on I saw some good things.
00:12 Once the offensive line settled down with the two holding calls early, I thought they
00:16 did some really good things.
00:17 Cordell Jones, I thought he had his best game as a charger.
00:18 I liked the way he handled the offense going up and down the field from 98 yards.
00:24 And had a nice pump return earlier by Pope.
00:27 Didn't surprise us.
00:28 He's been flashing in camp.
00:30 So he's coming on.
00:32 But I was disappointed that we couldn't finish the game in the fourth quarter.
00:35 Like I said, Taysom Hill, I mean, I take my hat off to him.
00:38 He's heck of an athlete.
00:39 He's heck of a quarterback.
00:40 And he just took that game over.
00:41 And did he talk about the growth of Cordell in the stadiums?
00:42 What's it been like when he's seen him in the professional time that he's brought in?
00:53 It's nice to see a player work as hard as he's worked at it and get better.
00:58 You know, last week he had one player I would have taken back, but I thought he played decent
01:01 last week as well.
01:02 And he's been doing it in practice.
01:05 He's been calling extra meetings with young players.
01:07 And so he's working at it.
01:09 He's doing things that good quarterbacks do in this league.
01:12 They work their tail off.
01:13 They hold everyone else accountable.
01:14 And they help the players around them.
01:15 What's been the difference for him?
01:16 I think maturity, to be honest with you.
01:20 And maybe the first time in his life he's been in the same system, consecutive seasons.
01:25 And so, yeah, but it's made a big difference.
01:29 You say on premise time in Baltimore.
01:33 Yeah.
01:34 How is his work approach?
01:35 You know, I think he's understanding that if you want to be good in this league and
01:39 take your game to the next level, you have to, I mean, you definitely have to outwork,
01:45 work as hard as everyone.
01:46 I'm not saying that he wasn't a hard worker, but the things I see now, all the extra effort
01:51 that he's given, I didn't see before.
01:52 Anthony, how do you feel you guys ran the ball today?
01:57 I thought at times we ran the ball well.
01:59 You know, we had a couple of runs early on where it wasn't so good.
02:02 I give the Saints defense credit.
02:04 Those linebackers came down the hill.
02:05 I don't like the fact that on fourth and one, it looked a bit longer than a yard.
02:09 You know, we don't get that.
02:10 I put us in those situations in preseason to see how we respond.
02:13 That's an area where we did not respond the way I thought we would today.
02:17 Any thoughts on Justin Jackson in particular?
02:20 I think he's a solid runner.
02:22 He's a good back.
02:23 He's done some good things for us.
02:24 Having a good camp.
02:25 How about for Jerry Sutherland, his first game for him, and getting the sack?
02:29 Who's this?
02:30 Jerry Sutherland?
02:31 You know, it looks like Jerry played pretty well.
02:33 I'm going to watch the tape to see how he played every down.
02:36 But I like the fact that he got the sack.
02:37 I mean, it wasn't even close.
02:39 And he did some good things in there tonight.
02:42 You guys are a wide receiver.
02:45 What did you think of Andre's test?
02:46 Andre, I thought he did some good things this evening.
02:48 He stepped up.
02:49 He raised some plays.
02:50 And he's been doing the same thing in practice.
02:52 You know, there's some position battles going on at the wide receiver position.
02:57 And we're looking for someone to step up and separate.
02:59 And Andre made a move tonight.
03:00 With Coach in particular, what do you guys like about him?
03:05 You know, his instincts, his quickness, his first-step explosion is as good as a lot of
03:09 backs I've been around.
03:11 And I saw that last year with him on scout team.
03:14 And so we gave him more opportunities this year, and he's taken advantage of it.
03:17 Coach, Denzel is getting some more late games from the other players.
03:20 Is there a reason for that?
03:22 You know, Denzel coming off that injury, he's a little rusty.
03:24 Just trying to get him more reps, get him caught up, and so that he can get back to
03:28 being Denzel.
03:29 And then Jenna came off with a wrap on his side.
03:33 Yeah, not sure what's going on with that yet.
03:35 But I did see him walk off the field.
03:37 But he was playing pretty good ball before that.
03:39 Coach, what did you think of your defense overall?
03:41 You had a couple stops there in the red zone, which you could have made a sport a
03:44 couple more times there if you guys were able to shut him down.
03:46 But overall, throughout the game, what did you think of your offense?
03:49 You know, that's the way our defense has always been.
03:51 They bend, but they don't break.
03:52 And they protect every inch.
03:54 You know, a lot of times they get in those situations and they make a play.
03:57 I don't think we can count on that, but that's kind of the way we've been.
04:01 So, red zone defense, I thought was pretty good today.
04:04 Anthony, do you have an update on Jeremy James?
04:07 Oh, he's planning on having his surgery.
04:10 And when we know more, you know, we'll let you know.
04:13 Do you have a timetable in terms of when he does have his surgery and how long?
04:16 No, I can't put a timetable on that.
04:19 This was -- James played for the first time in a while today with an interception.
04:25 How good is that just to see him contribute and get back up?
04:28 It's good to see him healthy and back on the field.
04:31 You know, he's a versatile athlete.
04:33 He can play corner, he can play nickel, he can play safety.
04:35 And he does some things on special teams.
04:37 But he's competing with some young kids.
04:39 He's a rodger teamer.
04:41 He's had a good camp.
04:42 So, we'll see how that works out.
04:45 What do you think of Easton and the porch order?
04:49 You know, there was some -- he had some penalties that put him behind eight ball.
04:53 I mean, he started inside the 10 a couple times.
04:55 And, you know, then he had a critical first down call back.
04:59 So, his drives really got stalled by penalties.
05:01 He never really got going.
05:03 But Easton's doing well.
