00:00With Philip Rivers throwing so many interceptions over his last two games
00:04and you're going through the self-scouting process, is there anything
00:06that you change in terms of the offense or is it just you trust Phil to make the
00:11corrections on his own?
00:12I mean we as coaches have to you know talk to him and do that stuff.
00:16Obviously and he knows though he's a veteran player in this league and he
00:19knows what he's got to do to get better. Obviously there's a fine line there you
00:22know you still want to be aggressive throughout the football but you know at
00:25the same time make smarter decisions and as a play caller you know sometimes you
00:29got to make better calls.
00:30So you do in some way alter your play call knowing that he's had those issues
00:34you want to help him out?
00:35Yeah I mean you want to have high completion percentage but I'm not going to alter how we call
00:38offense. You know what I mean? How we call plays. You know we're going to still do what we do and just you know
00:43try to make smarter decisions.
00:45Does the bye week offer any opportunity to do more foundational work with the
00:49offense? I know when you took over that was the middle of the week. This is the
00:53offense that was installed all the way back in training camp but now you have a
00:56little bit of time maybe to to make adjustments. Is that something that you
00:59guys can do?
01:00Yeah I mean obviously you look and see where you can add the wrinkles. You know what I mean?
01:03I mean it's not like a huge amount of a whole month but you got a couple weeks.
01:06You got just one week actually to look at it so you can add your wrinkles and put a little stuff on there.
01:10And that's not just for this particular opponent that's like for the last month of the season?
01:13Yeah I mean I think for each opponent it changes your game plan. You're not going to run certain things
01:17for certain opponents if they play a different type of style of defense. So I think it's all dictated off who you play.
