The COVID-19 outbreak is a wake-up call for those who love sports.
Transcript
00:00 Losing sports hurts because as the coronavirus has declared a pandemic and the NBA season is suspended,
00:06 we are reminded how little they really matter.
00:09 But to us, they matter so much, and they are usually where we can turn when times get tough.
00:15 I love the NBA.
00:17 The fact that it won't be there, and for who knows how long, is scary.
00:22 No matter what else is going on in life at night, I could always look forward to turning on some hoops
00:27 and then discussing them.
00:29 But now wondering whether the Milwaukee Bucks could complete a magical season,
00:33 or if LeBron James might get another ring, has no meaning.
00:37 Perhaps that is the best reality check of all for fans as to just how serious a situation this is.
00:43 The stock line is that sports brings people together.
00:46 Well now, they're keeping people apart.
00:49 March Madness will be played without fans, if at all.
00:52 Major League Baseball is scrambling as well.
00:55 All bets are off regarding how this will play out, but I wouldn't bet on any games being played for the foreseeable future.
01:02 "Unprecedented" is a word that is probably about to be overused, but is the only one that applies.
01:09 Who knows what happens from here?
01:11 From a professionally selfish standpoint, I have absolutely no idea what my industry is going to do.
01:17 But again, ultimately, none of that matters.
01:21 The only thing that does is we all stay calm and stay healthy.
01:25 Because even if we don't have sports to help, we're going to have to get through this together.
