00:00 The NFL could be on a way toward return,
00:03 but before it returns to action,
00:05 teams have to practice, of course,
00:07 and Roger Goodell has told them
00:08 to hold their training camps at home facilities.
00:11 For more, I'm joined by our Connor Orr.
00:13 Connor, how much different is this than normal?
00:15 Obviously, this is a part of the pandemic,
00:18 but it doesn't seem too far off
00:20 what the normal schedule would be.
00:21 No, and I think a lot of teams were heading that way anyway.
00:25 There were only a few holdouts at this point,
00:27 who maybe some more tenured coaches
00:29 who believe that they get some sort of intrinsic value
00:32 out of holding the training camp somewhere else.
00:35 They always cite team bonding,
00:37 but I think that the luxuries of home
00:39 have gotten so significant
00:41 that most teams were heading in that direction anyway.
00:45 I think that maybe the most significant wrinkle here
00:48 is that there won't be any inter-squad scrimmages.
00:51 It'll all be individual teams to themselves.
00:54 Yeah, and that especially affects coaches
00:56 from the Belichick tree.
00:58 He was especially fond of the inter-squad scrimmages,
01:02 and older coaches, I think,
01:03 really liked meeting up with some of the younger guys
01:06 and studying how they did things.
01:08 The Saints and the Rams were two teams
01:10 that liked to practice together and learn from each other.
01:13 So it'll be interesting to see if that has any impact,
01:16 but I do know that a lot of coaches thought
01:18 that had more value than just a static training camp practice.
01:22 Now, as far as you know,
01:23 is everything else business as usual for the NFL?
01:26 'Cause I've seen them say that tickets,
01:28 you know, sales are gonna maybe open up
01:30 and stuff like that.
01:31 Yeah, I mean, they're sort of riding this wave of optimism.
01:34 I mean, here in the Northeast,
01:35 we're starting to open up outdoor restaurants,
01:38 barber shops, salons, and stuff like that.
01:40 And so the NFL is, you know,
01:42 just hoping there's no second wave
01:44 and, you know, be very NFL-like
01:46 to just sort of plug your ears and close your eyes
01:48 and assume that nothing bad is gonna happen,
01:50 but maybe they'll actually get away with this.
01:52 Who knows?
01:53 I mean, it's really up to the pandemic.
01:55 It's up to the American public,
01:57 and we'll see what happens.
01:59 Yeah, the NFL really has been incredibly fortunate,
02:03 the timing of all this thus far.
02:05 Connor, appreciate your time as always.
