00:00The NFL season is upon us and the LA Chargers will start off this weekend in
00:04Cincinnati against the Bengals on Sunday. So let's take a look at the offense and
00:08how they will prepare for the Bengals defense this upcoming weekend.
00:11Expect the offense to look a little different this weekend than years past.
00:15The Chargers now have Tyrod Taylor as their starting quarterback. He is very
00:19athletic, he can move in the pocket, he could do a lot of different things that
00:22we haven't really seen from a Chargers offense ever and the Chargers expect him
00:27to move around in the pocket, make sure that guys get open, use his legs as
00:31athleticism to make bigger plays and hopefully limit this number of sacks.
00:38Keenan Allen was saying to the media this week that he's really excited about
00:42this new style of offense that the Chargers are gonna be throwing out there
00:45because of all the things that Tyrod can do, now you have to defend all 11
00:49players on the field. So really look to see the changes on the offense. Also
00:54expect to see a lot more running this weekend. Anthony Lynn is a former
00:58running backs coach, he likes running the football a lot, he feels like if the
01:03team is running the ball effectively that'll open up the pass. So really I'm
01:07expecting there to be about 55% running, 45% passing and a couple of new wrinkles
01:13thrown in there. First off the Chargers are dealing with some injuries this week.
01:17Center Mike Pouncey has not practiced the whole week, he has a hip injury, he
01:21really didn't practice the last two to three weeks of training camp so it'll be
01:25interesting to monitor. Wide receiver Mike Williams is also dealing with an
01:28injury, he's been limited the whole week with a shoulder injury. It'll be
01:32interesting to see if he goes on Sunday, if not the Chargers are confident in
01:36Jalen Guyton, Jason Moore, Joe Reed and KJ Hill to pick up the slack. So with Tyrod
01:43Taylor taking over as quarterback, expect some new things out of the
01:46Chargers offense this weekend and like Anthony Lynn said, yes we might not have
01:49a lot of film on the Bengals, but the Bengals don't have a lot of film on us.
01:52So we might be able to throw in a new wrinkle here and there, but for more on
01:55that and more on the Chargers, continue following my page for some more new
01:59content. I'm Fernando Ramirez for Sports Illustrated.
