00:00 Hi, Fernando Ramirez here for Sports Illustrated.
00:03 Talking a little bit about the Chargers 2021 free agency plans.
00:07 I know, it's a long ways away.
00:08 But still, the Chargers have already made some plans for
00:11 next year's free agency by re-signing Joey Bosa to a five year extension.
00:15 Now let's take a look at some of the guys that are off the books next year for
00:18 the Chargers.
00:19 >> Let's start off with receiver Keenan Allen.
00:21 He has been the most consistent offensive weapon the Chargers have had in the last
00:24 few years.
00:25 Posting over 100 catches,
00:27 a thousand yards consistently the last three seasons.
00:31 He has been someone that the Chargers can count on day in and day out.
00:34 And he will be big for not only Tyra Taylor, but Justin Herbert in the future.
00:38 So the Chargers are gonna wanna take care of Allen sooner rather than later.
00:42 Tight end Hunter Henry also comes off the books the next offseason.
00:45 Right now he's playing on a one year franchise tag.
00:48 If he has a huge 2020, he could be looking for a big payday.
00:52 Last season Henry had a career high in catches and yards.
00:56 So he'll look to be more consistent in 2020 and help Tyra Taylor out,
01:01 who will be the starting quarterback of this team.
01:03 The key for Henry is staying healthy.
01:05 The last few years he's been dinged up here and there.
01:08 So he'll look to have a full 16 game season,
01:12 something he has not done in his whole NFL career.
01:14 Next we move to center Mike Pouncey.
01:16 He's going into his third year with the team.
01:18 He's coming off a neck injury that required surgery.
01:22 So it'll be interesting to see if he stays at that Pro Bowl level when he comes back,
01:26 especially with the additions that the Chargers made to the offensive line.
01:29 But like Anthony Lynn said on Wednesday, they're counting on his leadership as well.
01:33 Now defensive end Melvin Ingram.
01:35 He is coming off his third consecutive Pro Bowl season.
01:38 And along with Joey Bosa make one of the best tandems in the NFL.
01:42 Ingram's athleticism and quick feet make it very hard for tackles to contain him.
01:47 Will the Chargers try and keep some consistency in their defense now that
01:50 they have Bosa signed up for the next six years and keep Ingram for a couple more?
01:54 Or will they let him hit free agency?
01:57 >> You can't keep them all.
01:58 It'll be interesting to see who Tom Telisco decides to keep on the team
02:01 going into the 2021 season.
02:03 But for now, I'm Fernando Ramirez, Sports Illustrated, and
