00:00Hi, my name is Fernando Ramirez, and today I'm talking a little bit about Joey Bosa.
00:04I don't know if you guys heard, but he signed a huge extension.
00:07According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, he signed a five-year, $135 million contract.
00:12So what does that mean?
00:14It means that one of the elite pass rushers in the NFL is signed up for the next six seasons,
00:18which is something the Chargers wanted to do.
00:21Bosa is one of the biggest parts of this Chargers defense.
00:24Along with him, Derwin James, and new first-round pick Kenneth Murray, the defense is solidified
00:29for the next few years.
00:30On Monday, the media got to talk to GM Tom Telesco, and he used a couple of Jedi mind
00:34tricks and really didn't let the media know what was going on.
00:38When asked about the Bosa contract, he said, guys, I really don't have anything for you,
00:42which kind of threw some of the reporters off, but at the same time you knew, oh, it
00:46has to get worked out.
00:47Tuesday afternoon was Bosa watch for not only the media, not only Chargers brass, but also
00:51the fans, checking the Chargers' Instagram and Twitter pages to see if Bosa would actually
00:56show up.
00:57The players had until 5 p.m. to show up at the Chargers hotel in Irvine, and right at
01:024.56, the Chargers posted a video of Bosa coming in and saying, I made it.
01:06Ninety minutes later, he was a richer man.
01:09Telesco knew he had to get this deal done this offseason.
01:11With free agents like Desmond King, Keenan Allen, Mike Pouncey, and Melvin Ingram set
01:15to hit the next offseason, and then on top of that, COVID-19 affecting the cap, this
01:20is one less worry for Tom Telesco.
01:23Fernando Ramirez, Sports Illustrated, stay tuned for more content.
01:27Thanks for watching.
01:28We'll see you next time.
01:29Bye.
