Chargers Hard Knocks Preview

Chargers will share the HBO stage with the Rams on Hard Knocks.

00:00Hi, I'm Eric Williams, and I'm here with Fernando Ramirez. I cover the Rams for Sports Illustrated. Fernando covers the Chargers

00:06We're here to talk hard knocks with the season beginning. Both LA teams are going to be on hard knocks this year

00:13Fernando what are a couple things you want to check out as far as the Chargers in the first season?

00:18You know Eric. I'm very interested to see the Tyra Taylor era the Justin Herbert era no more Philip Rivers

00:25So I kind of wish we could see a little bit of Philip Rivers in the way

00:29He is with his teammates that would have been fun, especially with Chris Harris jr.

00:33Joining you know Philip and him would always talk back and forth

00:36Seeing them seeing some of the defensive guys like Melvin Ingram

00:40Derwin James a little bit of that and seeing really how they integrate both

00:45The Chargers and the Rams like are they gonna go half of the time Chargers half of the time Rams

00:50That's gonna be very interesting. What are some of the things you want to see from the Rams?

00:54Just to kind of go off what you said Fernando

00:57I think the first thing I want to see is how they're gonna handle this COVID situation with all the safety restrictions and regulations

01:02What are the meanings are gonna look like what is practice gonna look like for both teams?

01:06You know, how are they gonna handle that individually and then if they do get positive tests

01:10How do they deal with that kind of on a day-to-day basis and on a minute-to-minute basis in terms of the team itself?

01:18Jared Goff, you know, how are they gonna continue his maturation process?

01:22If you remember golf was a rookie when they did the first hard knocks with the Rams and had trouble remembering which

01:28Direction the Sun set so I'm hopefully he's grown from that

01:31I'm sure that he has obviously he's had a lot of success over the last couple years

01:36So I'm interested to see that transition new offensive coordinator Kevin O'Connell and how those two interact

01:42and then defensively Brandon Staley new defense coordinator how he interacts with Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsey and the

01:49Changes they're gonna make defensively

01:51Moving on from Wade Phillips and then the last thing I think is Jalen Ramsey's contract that you know

01:56You will get it kind of an inside. Look. I hope in terms of the negotiations with GM less need and

02:02Jalen's representation. So those are a couple things. I'm going to be looking for in terms of the Rams
