Who should you start in fantasy football? here are the answers!
Transcript
00:00 Time to set your DraftKings lineups with a little help from SI Fantasy and Gambling Analysts
00:05 Frank Tadeo and Ben Heisler for a little game we play called Pay Up or Pay Down.
00:10 Ben, I'm going to start with you.
00:12 Let's go to quarterbacks.
00:13 You got two options here.
00:14 You got Patrick Mahomes, the highest priced quarterback at $8,100, or you can pay down
00:19 for Matt Ryan at $5,700.
00:22 Which way are you going?
00:23 Got to pay down in quarterback, Bill.
00:25 It almost feels like a staple of Pay Up or Pay Down, but Matt Ryan at $5,700 is far too
00:30 cheap.
00:31 Going up against the Chargers defense that got molly-clocked by the New England Patriots,
00:36 a team that had been stagnant almost all season long, or frankly since Cam Newton came back
00:41 after he had dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic, coming back and just really stuttering from
00:47 the course of the entirety of since he's been back.
00:50 But they gave up almost 45 points back.
00:52 I think they gave up 45 points to the Patriots last week.
00:55 Assuming that both Julio and Calvin Ridley are able to give it a go, shouldn't be any
00:59 concerns about the weather for Matt Ryan despite playing on the road.
01:02 I like the matchup.
01:03 I like the opportunity, and I certainly like the salary at $5,700.
01:07 Frankie, let's go over to running backs.
01:10 Now, last week, you spent all the money.
01:12 Ben was always trying to save, trying to find the bargains.
01:15 You always paying up for these high-expensive guys.
01:18 Are you going to do the same this week?
01:19 Derek Henry, $8,700, or Ronald Jones at 6,100 a buck?
01:25 Now, listen, I got expensive taste.
01:27 I'm going to be spending the money again.
01:28 I'm going Derek Henry.
01:29 I believe that the Titans are going to try to look to get back and bounce back and get
01:33 back to their winning ways after that loss to the Cleveland Browns.
01:37 And what better way to do it than riding their workhorse?
01:40 There's no other way that you could look at this fantasy week without having Derek Henry
01:44 in your lineup.
01:45 The guy is an absolute -- I think we could pencil him in safely and easily for 15-plus
01:50 fantasy points this week against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
01:53 So for me, I am clearly paying up for Derek Henry, for a player that averages nearly 20
01:59 points per game in fantasy football this season.
02:01 And after a down game, I want to buy on him, because I believe that he's going to be motivated,
02:05 the team's going to be motivated, and they're going to force-feed him the ball.
02:08 Look for him to get at least 25-plus touches in this game in Week 14.
02:13 >> $8,700, you better be banking on more than just 15 points, Frank.
02:19 >> Yeah, well, listen, he does normally average at least 20, so in that realm right now, how
02:25 could I not?
02:26 Because I don't think there's another running back in all of fantasy football right now
02:29 that you can depend on to get at least 15-plus fantasy points, and maybe even come closer
02:33 to that 30, 40-point mark that Derek Henry has been able to eclipse several times this
02:39 season.
02:40 So for me, I'm paying up for Derek Henry, because I can't possibly trust Ronald Jones
02:44 when there's Leonard Fournette back there, and a team right now that, you know, listen,
02:48 we always know that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, when they're going to win, they're going to
02:51 win most likely through the arm of Tom Brady.
02:54 And in all passing downs, we're seeing that Leonard Fournette is the favorite to be on
02:58 the field over Ronald Jones.
02:59 So for me, I have a little bit of a reluctancy to incorporate Ronald Jones and trust him
03:06 in my fantasy lineups, specifically in DFS or even in season long this week.
03:11 So for me, I have a strong lean and strong preference toward Derek Henry.
03:14 All right, let's go to wide receiver Devante Adams.
03:17 He has a touchdown in seven straight games, but he's at $9,300.
03:21 Meanwhile, T.Y.
03:22 Hillen has a touchdown in back-to-back games.
03:24 He's only 5,100 bucks.
03:26 Ben Heisler, which way are you going?
03:28 No, I'm spending up this week at wide receiver, guys.
03:31 And we talked about Matt Ryan a little bit earlier.
03:33 I think it's a great opportunity for a stack.
03:35 It'll probably be popular with Ryan Julio, who's still only 6,600 bucks this week, along
03:40 with Calvin Ridley.
03:41 But I really do like Devante Adams.
03:42 I know he had his worst game of the season against the Detroit Lions back in September,
03:48 only finished with three catches for 36 yards, did not have a touchdown.
03:51 But like you said, Bill, touchdowns in seven consecutive games, no worse than 12 DraftKings
03:56 points.
03:57 In fact, he's been averaging almost close to 30 points per game in three out of his
04:01 last six games.
04:02 He's an absolute stud.
04:03 He's absolutely worth paying up for.
04:05 And knowing that Rodgers is going to force feed him the football against one of the worst
04:08 defenses in the league, I think it's another golden opportunity for Devante Adams to at
04:12 least score a couple of touchdowns and go for over 100 yards again.
04:16 Let's go over to tight end and finish up with this position by talking about Darren Waller,
04:21 the highest priced tight end.
04:23 Now I know he had an incredible week, a 13 game highest scoring player on DraftKings,
04:28 but he's $6,800, Frankie.
04:30 Jared Cook, meanwhile, he's only 3,800 bucks.
04:33 Are you saving the money here or are you paying up for the stud?
04:37 I'm saving the money here.
04:38 I'm actually paying down in this particular situation.
04:41 There's no reason to be chasing points right now.
04:44 And Darren Waller's matchup is not an attractive one for me.
04:47 I don't believe he's going to be able to keep that kind of production level that we saw
04:51 last week sustained going into week 14.
04:54 For me, I will be looking at Jared Cook and it's surprising that I would actually say
04:57 that, but I think there's several tight ends you could be looking at in that price range
05:01 over at DraftKings.
05:02 But for me, I would be paying down for Jared Cook in this particular situation.
05:06 He was finally found off of several milk cartons for his fantasy managers last week.
05:12 When he finally found the end zone, it seemed like he could not find one at all.
05:16 But in this matchup against an Eagles defense that just gives up points in a tight end position,
05:21 I actually believe that Jared Cook is a solid play even with Tayson Hill.
05:26 Yes, the running Tayson Hill over the passing one that seems to always want to use his legs
05:31 more than his arm in this offense right now for the New Orleans Saints.
05:35 I believe he's going to possibly be a solid red zone target and I would not be surprised
05:40 to see Jared Cook find the end zone once again.
05:43 If he does at this value point, guys, with his overall asking price and his salary, I
05:50 think that's something that you can definitely work into your lineup and then use that other
05:54 money to afford, guys, like Devontae Adams that Ben wants to assimilate and put into
05:59 his lineup and make sure that he incorporates.
06:01 So for me, I would be looking to pay down for Jared Cook at easily and arguably the
06:06 worst position in all of fantasy football, the tight end position.
06:09 So we're paying down for quarterback, paying down for tight end, paying up for wide receiver
06:14 and running back.
06:15 And Ben mentioned a good game stack in there with Matt Ryan, Julio Jones, or Calvin Ridley.
06:19 Great stuff as always, fellas.
06:20 We have plenty more DFS device for Week 14.
