00:00 >> Hey Garrison, I just wanted to know your thoughts on the environment and
00:05 a Dean dome without fans.
00:07 >> Very different, of course, you just see the cutouts,
00:11 you just very few people on this very different atmosphere.
00:15 Most of the time we get our energy from our fans, but
00:19 luckily we were able to generate our own energy off the bench and
00:22 just come out enthusiastic.
00:23 >> Is it hard to generate your energy or is that something that you feel like you
00:27 guys will continue to develop as the season goes on?
00:30 >> I think we'll be able to develop it better as the season goes on.
00:32 [BLANK_AUDIO]
00:42 >> Anybody else?
00:43 >> Matt, you're muted.
00:44 [BLANK_AUDIO]
00:47 >> Yeah, Matt, you're muted right now.
00:48 >> All right, Jacob Turner.
00:50 >> Got you.
00:51 Hey, Garrison, I'm just curious on your overall thoughts on how some of
00:54 the freshmen played in particular, Caleb Love and Daron Sharpe and RJ Davis.
00:59 >> Yeah, I think Daron gave us a huge spark off the bench.
01:02 Of course, just being himself, offensive rebound, a lot of energy, blocking shots.
01:07 Caleb played really well outside of having that scary fall.
01:10 I mean, he did phenomenal in his debut.
01:12 RJ played really well also.
01:15 Once he got settled in, I think he played well for us.
01:18 I think that all our freshmen had their moments today where they played well and
01:22 I think that they're only gonna get better.
01:23 >> Deanna King.
01:25 >> Garrison, you guys had a lot of balance scoring.
01:30 That was not typical last year.
01:32 How did you think team wise the balance scoring was?
01:36 >> I think it's great.
01:38 It's great to see a lot of people scoring on your team, being very unselfish and
01:42 being able to have that depth to where anybody can score.
01:45 Anybody can really be the high score and I think that's great for us.
01:50 [BLANK_AUDIO]
01:52 >> Brendan Marks.
01:55 >> Hey, Garrison, congrats.
01:56 You had mentioned throughout the offseason yourself, Coach Williams,
02:00 sort of everyone on the team who is back.
02:01 The bad taste that last year left in you guys' mouths.
02:05 I know it's only one game, but does this start to erase that?
02:09 Does this performance sort of tell you how different this team is?
02:12 >> Yeah, I could tell this team was different once we got down one.
02:17 We're able to come back and really turn up on defense and
02:21 make an impact in the game.
02:22 And just keep battling back and just keep playing hard.
02:26 >> Thank you.
02:28 >> Greg Barnes.
02:29 >> Hey, Garrison, Roy noted earlier this week about not having exhibition games,
02:35 not having a close scrimmage with another team,
02:37 really kind of led to a lack of preparation.
02:41 From your perspective, how important was it to finally be able to get out here and
02:44 play another team that wasn't an inter-squad scrimmage?
02:49 >> Yeah, it's huge, just being able to get out there against somebody different.
02:52 I think it's great that we got out here and
02:55 we struggled a little bit at one point in time.
02:57 I think we're gonna learn from that.
02:58 But I think it's just moments we have to keep learning from.
03:02 I think it's a step in the right direction, though.
03:05 >> And with the chemistry components, going to Asheville next week for
03:09 three games in three days, you played in a lot of these situations.
03:14 How much do you think the team will be able to learn off the court as much as on
03:17 the court in that kind of situation?
03:18 >> Yeah, I mean, you typically learn a lot in situations like these.
03:22 I mean, you play back to back, you have to learn really quick.
03:24 And you learn a lot from film that you see yourself doing and
03:27 you can see what you can do to get better.
03:28 So I think that having that film from today and having that film from UNLV game,
03:34 the next game, and the game after that would be great for
03:37 our guys, something they can learn from.
03:39 Thank you.
03:39 >> CL Brown.
03:41 [BLANK_AUDIO]
03:45 >> Hey, Garrison, how much would you say the competition and
03:48 practice among the bigs is kind of what lends to having a night like tonight
03:53 where Armando and Daron both double figures and Daron and
03:57 yourself both double figures rebounding?
04:02 >> Yeah, I think we compete very hard amongst each other.
04:04 I think it's always our job to really make each other better every day.
04:10 And I think that it's an advantage for us because sometimes I look and
04:14 I think practice is better for the bigs and sometimes in game.
04:17 Cuz I think we have one of the best front courts in the country.
04:20 >> Thanks, man.
04:22 >> Brian Keyes, last one.
04:25 >> Garrison, congrats on the win.
04:28 You guys really had it rolling in the second half with the run.
04:32 But what do you think the team needs to improve on starting tomorrow?
04:36 >> Just picking up on mistakes, learning from your own mistakes.
04:40 Pretty much just not turning, I mean, just better shot selection.
04:45 I think that's something we got.
04:46 We could always improve on, seeing if we can get better shots and
04:50 seeing where we can pass the ball to teammates and
04:53 just get everybody involved at times.
04:56 And just keep growing as players.
04:58 I don't know if it's something specific, I just really wanna point out to it.
05:00 Thank you.
