00:00 Welcome to Mojo Plays, and today we're taking a look at what your favorite Resident Evil
00:09 game probably says about you and your gaming habits.
00:13 Just keep in mind, this is all in good fun, no harsh judgements here.
00:17 Maybe.
00:18 Before we begin, we publish new videos all week long, so be sure to subscribe to Mojo
00:26 Plays and ring the bell to be notified about our latest videos.
00:31 Resident Evil.
00:32 "Stop it!
00:34 Don't open that door!"
00:36 "But Chris's!"
00:38 "What is it?"
00:40 For some, it can be hard to go back to a time where mechanics weren't exactly refined.
00:45 But for you, you see it differently.
00:47 This was a time when Resident Evil was truly something special that few ever played, back
00:52 when gaming was sort of this niche hobby and not so mainstream.
00:56 You're probably also some kind of maniac who will defend tank controls until the bitter
01:00 end even though you know it's blasphemous.
01:04 God help you if Capcom ever decides to finally remake the very first game.
01:08 "Jill, here's a lockpick.
01:11 It might be handy if you, the master of unlocking, take it with you."
01:16 Resident Evil 2.
01:19 "Ahhhh!"
01:23 Loving Resident Evil 2 more than any other game in the franchise can mean one of two
01:26 things.
01:27 On one side of the coin, you're a simp for Leon or Claire.
01:30 Or maybe both.
01:31 On the other side, you enjoyed exploring a desolate police station that reveals some
01:35 kind of conspiracy behind an evil corporation performing experiments underneath.
01:40 You may also just enjoy all the crazy ideas between Mr. X stalking you around every corner
01:45 and how hunters were an immediate cause for panic whenever they spawned.
01:49 Or perhaps you've been to a police station several times in your real life and felt cozy
01:53 playing RE2, in which case, we have some questions for you.
01:57 "Man, what a mess."
02:00 Resident Evil 3 Nemesis.
02:02 "Okay, we've got to get out of here."
02:06 "What?
02:07 What do you think you're talking about?"
02:09 We all know why you love this game.
02:10 It's just a simp over Jill Valentine.
02:12 You're not wrong for doing so, we just hope it's healthy simping and not anything to
02:16 do with Nemi's wrist tentacle.
02:18 But in all seriousness, you might be the kind of player that enjoys horror games that make
02:22 you feel like you're in danger.
02:24 You enjoy being the prey and having that extra level of challenge and trying to make the
02:28 most of what little defense you have.
02:30 If that's the case, have you given Clock Tower 3 or the Silent Hill games a try?
02:40 Resident Evil Code Veronica.
02:43 "Your identification number is WKD4496.
02:47 Welcome to your new home."
02:51 When looking at the RE fanbase as a whole, the diehard Code Veronica fans are the hipsters
02:55 of the bunch.
02:57 These are the folks that go against the grain and try to champion the things they find truly
03:01 special.
03:02 However, some of this tunnel vision might cause you to obfuscate its glaring flaws
03:07 or even the special aspects about the mainline RE games.
03:11 There is something envious about this level of passion, but at some point we have to wonder
03:14 how much of this birthed from the desire to give Claire her own mainline game.
03:23 Resident Evil Survivor and Resident Evil Dead Aim.
03:27 "Though I can't remember anything, I know that this was no way for anyone to die."
03:34 If you're walking around saying Survivor or Dead Aim are your favorite Resident Evil
03:39 games, then you need to be prepared for a few things.
03:42 One, you are going to get weird reactions from diehard fans who will start questioning
03:46 your fandom.
03:47 Two, you will probably be immediately dismissed as a House of the Dead fan who has infiltrated
03:53 the Capcom waters.
03:54 And three, you will be mocked for enjoying two games that most of the fanbase find to
03:59 be some of the worst games in the franchise.
04:02 You've problems.
04:03 You need to give us answers.
04:05 You're going to pay for what you've done.
04:08 Resident Evil Gaiden.
04:15 Much like with Survivor and Dead Aim, your fellow RE fans might determine the kind of
04:19 person you really are the second you say "Gaiden is my favorite RE game."
04:24 You might be asked if you have played any of the other games, if you owned any other
04:28 console besides a Game Boy Color, and/or when you were dropped on your head as a child.
04:33 Regardless of what answer you give, you might be trebucheted into Capcom's offices for
04:37 further interrogation.
04:44 Resident Evil Zero.
04:50 We can understand why someone would enjoy RE Zero over the other games.
04:54 Loneliness can elevate tension in horror games, and RE Zero kind of mitigates that feeling
04:59 entirely.
05:00 Since you control both Rebecca and Billy, it never really feels like you're alone,
05:05 so you might be the kind of player who enjoys a scary game, but only when you're in the
05:08 presence of good company.
05:10 And that is totally fair and valid.
05:12 Horror isn't for everybody.
05:14 Just let us know if you prefer huggies or pampers.
05:21 Resident Evil HD.
05:29 By saying RE HD is your favorite game in the franchise, you're not only making a
05:33 safe choice, you may also be igniting a war between you and the RE1 purists.
05:37 Don't let that deter you, though.
05:40 RE HD was one of the best games on the GameCube, and the uncanny visuals add to the humor and
05:44 horror of the original story.
05:46 Just be mindful that you may come across some elitism between those who played the original
05:51 game, those who played on GameCube, and those who played on modern hardware.
05:54 Y'all got some problems you need to work out amongst yourselves.
06:00 Resident Evil Outbreak.
06:09 You are one of the oddballs of the RE community, and probably in many other communities.
06:15 We can understand why you might enjoy Outbreak more than the others.
06:18 Perhaps you've played too much of the mainline games and you got bored of the same rigmarole.
06:22 So Outbreak was the Chuck O'Nilla mix you needed, with its own cast and mechanics.
06:27 We get it, and we wish more would enjoy Outbreak on the same level as you.
06:37 Resident Evil 4.
06:44 If you enjoy RE4 more than any other game in the franchise, well, you are very much
06:48 not alone.
06:49 This is a game that is beloved by millions of people both in and outside the RE fanbase,
06:54 and it's easy for anyone to find enjoyment in it.
06:57 It can be scary, it can be funny, and most of the time, it offers dumb fun with its mechanics
07:01 and physics.
07:02 You are very much someone who loves a diverse toybox where everything can do something with
07:06 each other in different ways, like shooting a stick of dynamite in a villager's hand,
07:10 or suplexing an infected villager so hard their head explodes.
07:14 Also, you're probably a true psychopath and get genuine enjoyment out of bingo.
07:19 Resident Evil Deadly Silence.
07:31 A fourth faction has unknowingly entered the RE1 war.
07:35 There aren't many of them, but those who name Deadly Silence as their favorite carry
07:39 a couple of assumptions about them.
07:41 The first one is you must have been glued to your DS so much that you didn't even
07:45 know home consoles existed.
07:47 The second assumption is you just enjoyed the local multiplayer with a friend.
07:52 Both are fine reasons to love this game, but you might have to make friends with the Gaiden
07:56 fans and the Gaiden fans only.
07:59 Resident Evil 5.
08:05 We can definitely see why someone might say RE5 is their favorite game in the franchise,
08:10 but it may not be for the same kinds of reasons why fans of the other games love those other
08:14 games.
08:15 Much of the satisfaction of RE5 is in playing through the game with a friend.
08:19 Playing alone is frustrating because of Sheva's god awful AI.
08:24 The other enjoyment folks will find in RE5 is just the sheer ridiculousness on display
08:29 and reliving the memes all over again.
08:32 You know, the boulder punching, the "7 minutes is all I can spare to play with you" line.
08:37 Spamming "Come on!
08:39 Come on!" or "Gimme an egg!"
08:41 RE5 is, in other words, for the meme lords and the buddy comedy fans and the people who
08:47 just like to annoy others with memes relentlessly.
08:50 It's a great game, but some of you like this for very different reasons.
09:02 Resident Evil The Mercenaries 3D.
09:09 If you loved this 3DS spin-off, you won't be looked at as harshly by other RE fans.
09:15 Maybe.
09:16 You were probably the kind of player that values gameplay the most and couldn't care
09:20 anything regarding any kind of story, presentation, atmosphere, or anything else.
09:26 You are here for a satisfying combat system and to play for a high score whether it's
09:31 your own or someone else's.
09:34 So long as you know you're missing out on what makes Resident Evil what it is, then
09:38 by all means, you do you.
09:44 Resident Evil 6.
09:52 We know some of you are out there.
09:54 Somewhere.
09:55 There is a group of RE fans who swear that RE6 was not as bad as everyone makes it out
10:00 to be and is probably the best game in the whole franchise, but we know you're out
10:04 there even though you don't talk.
10:07 This section of the community chooses to remain silent and hide in the shadows because they
10:11 know, they all know, that even RE5 fans will break out their pitchforks upon hearing this.
10:17 They don't even breathe when in the presence of older fans from the PS4 and N64 days, and
10:22 it's because they all know that it's heresy to say RE6 is worth any kind of love whatsoever.
10:29 Maybe for the Leon campaign, but everything else is a no, not when only a fraction of
10:34 the game is genuinely decent.
10:36 You always gotta be suspicious of the quiet ones.
10:38 Just sayin'.
10:45 Resident Evil Revelations.
10:58 It is kind of hard to judge anyone who loves Revelations.
11:01 Yeah, the story could get a little weird at times, but for the most part, this game was
11:05 damn good.
11:06 For those who choose this over every other RE title, it isn't a bad choice, but we
11:11 have one question.
11:12 Do you enjoy horror games and movies that take place underwater?
11:16 Do you have some morbid curiosity about the monsters that lurk deep in the abyss of the
11:21 ocean?
11:22 You do know that humans don't belong in the water, right?
11:25 Well, if the underwater setting had nothing to do with your love for this game, then you're
11:29 just probably somebody who spent way too much time on their 3DS.
11:36 Resident Evil Revelations 2.
11:45 Those who love Revelations 2 the most are some kind of weird hybrid between the Revelations
11:50 fanbase and the Mercenaries 3D crowd.
11:53 You probably didn't enjoy this game for the story or even its puzzles.
11:57 You probably enjoyed it for the replayability and trying to shoot for higher ranks in the
12:01 main story and post-game modes.
12:03 That isn't a bad thing, necessarily.
12:05 We just want what's best for you.
12:07 So if you really want to be a hardcore fan of Revelations 2, well, so be it.
12:13 Your parents might be disappointed.
12:22 Resident Evil 7 Biohazard.
12:30 If RE7 was your favorite game, you were probably a fan of other survival horror games before
12:35 this one.
12:36 You perhaps started with Amnesia, or Alien Isolation, or Dying Light, or some other game.
12:41 This was the first time Resident Evil looked appealing to you, and you may have even taken
12:46 a liking to Ethan Winters.
12:48 Honestly, you could not have chosen a better time to jump into the franchise as this was
12:53 the game that rejuvenated interest in both Capcom and the general public.
13:01 Resident Evil Village.
13:09 The diehard fans of Village are divided into three sections.
13:13 The first third are the folks who are coming from the previous game and want to see how
13:16 Ethan Winters' story closes.
13:18 The second third are RE4 fans who saw traits of RE4 in Village and wanted to see how Capcom
13:24 approached this setting a second time.
13:26 As for the remaining third, y'all are weird.
13:29 These are the vampire mommy simps that made Capcom's marketing team lean super heavy
13:34 into using Lady Dimitrescu as the game's mascot.
13:37 Now you all get to decide who is who.
13:40 You all have fun with that.
13:42 Resident Evil RE-Verse.
13:50 It is one thing to love Gaiden, Mercenaries, or even RE6 more than any other RE game in
13:56 existence.
13:57 It's another though, to come out and profess your love for a game like RE-Verse.
14:04 At that point, everyone has the right to start asking if you even like Resident Evil, or
14:09 even know what it is.
14:11 Do you know what Resident Evil is?
14:13 Do you have any idea what this franchise is about?
14:15 Now don't be scared, you aren't going to get trebucheted into Capcom's offices.
14:20 Instead you're going to get trebucheted into space, where no one can hear your fake
14:26 opinion.
14:27 Maybe you'll be allowed back to Earth if you can prove Pluto is inhabited by aliens,
14:32 and then upon your return, you can tell us all about how they love RE-Verse just like
14:38 you do.
14:39 The Remakes.
14:44 If the remakes for RE2, 3, or 4 are your favorites, well, let us end things here by saying, welcome
14:51 to the Resident Evil community.
14:53 We have hot sandwiches, big hulking best friends, and an assortment of sexy authority figures
14:58 from the police, military, and hospital for you to simp over.
15:02 Things have been perfect since the series started in 1996, and we've never had a crappy
15:07 multiplayer spin-off or some garbage PvP game aimed at eSports players.
15:12 We are the perfect community, and we are so glad you have joined us for the ride.
15:17 Now tell us why you think Leon and Jill are the best video game characters ever made.
15:30 And while you're at it, tell us down in the comments below which Resident Evil game
15:33 is your favorite.
15:34 Oh no no no no, don't be scared, don't be ashamed.
15:42 Go ahead, let us know down in the comments below, and be sure to subscribe to Mojo Plays
15:46 for more great videos every day, assuming the other fans don't get to you.
15:50 Thanks for watching.
16:00 (upbeat music)
