00:00 President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led the ceremony of the completion of more than 200 cadets of the PNPA Layag Diwa Class of 2024.
00:10 The President challenged the graduates to give quality service to the country and use their knowledge in technology.
00:18 That's what Patrick De Jesus said.
00:22 From more than 200 cadets of the PNPA Layag Diwa Class of 2024, the 24-year-old and former Batangas Police Cadet Maria Camille Cabasis was awarded the valedictorian.
00:36 While finishing her first course, BS Criminology, Cabasis was a part-time working student in a photocopy center and sometimes she also sold shopaw.
00:48 Until her academy, she did not have a fun time, especially when the pandemic hit when she joined the PNPA.
00:58 From the first day of our cadetship, life was not easy.
01:02 There were nights when we couldn't sleep, there were times when we wanted to cry but we couldn't.
01:08 There were times when we had to endure hunger, fatigue, and fatigue.
01:13 But all of these came to fruition and today, we are able to make up for our hardships.
01:21 When Cabasis was chosen to serve in the PNP, she said her profession was not a barrier to become a valedictorian.
01:31 For everyone's knowledge, here at the Philippine National Police Academy, what a man does is what we women do.
01:41 Here, we have proven that we are not just women, but women who can do something for society.
01:48 And one who can be an inspiration to our fellow youth and women.
01:53 For the BJMP who was chosen to serve in the top two of the class, Cadet Jomar Saldavia,
01:59 he aspires to help in the reintegration process of prisoners.
02:04 The BJMP was my first choice because I am a scholar of the Catholic school and I know one way to pay back to those benefactors
02:14 who are behind my success is to help them through the reintegration process of our prisoners.
02:24 Because our prisoners are the ones who are often forgotten and not given attention.
02:32 It would be my pride to see that once they serve their sentence, there is a change happening.
02:38 Today, the 223rd cadet of the PNPA Layag Diwa Class of 2024 was completed.
02:46 President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led the commencement exercises, which were conducted in Camp Castaneda, Silang, Cavite.
02:55 The President's message is not to rush in the hope of increasing ranks.
03:00 Instead, he strives to provide quality service to the Filipinos.
03:05 Let me remind you that your career should not be measured by the speed you have moved up the ranks alone,
03:11 but by the quality of the service that you have given to our people.
03:17 The service you are about to consecrate your life to is not a race to collect insignia nor accumulate prized assignments.
03:25 It is to do as much good as often to as many without expecting any reward in return.
03:31 Because service itself is our reward.
03:35 President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. challenged the new graduating cadets of the PNPA Layag Diwa Class of 2024
03:44 to use their knowledge in technology.
03:48 Most of you were born when the internet was no longer in its infancy.
03:53 And you were shaped to be tech savvy, digital natives.
03:57 So I challenge you to leverage that technology that you are familiar with
04:01 as aids in protecting and serving our people, especially in battling cyber crime.
04:07 I ask you to embrace smart policing, fire prevention, and penology.
04:12 The fight against crime is now a potent mix of gadgets and war rooms and old-fashioned grunt work by gritty police officers.
04:21 To those who will join the BFP and the BJMP, I expect you to maximize IT to improve your service deliveries while minimizing the cost.
04:30 From Layag Diwa Class, 199 will be joining the Philippine National Police, 12 in the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology,
04:40 and 12 in the Bureau of Fire Protection.
04:43 Patrick De Asus for Pambansan TV in Bagong, Philippines.
