00:02 Now a lot of people find the idea of an electric car

00:04 enough of a challenge,

00:05 but what about an electric motorbike?

00:07 We're at the Verge electric motorcycle stand today

00:10 at the LA Auto Show,

00:12 and they've got a piece of technology

00:14 that's absolutely blown my mind.

00:16 I managed to catch a quick interview with Marco,

00:19 the CTO of Verge earlier, and he explained more.

00:23 You won't believe this, folks.

00:24 It's awesome.

00:26 Hello, guys, I'm here with Marco,

00:27 who's the CTO of Verge Motorcycles.

00:30 Tell us more.

00:30 Sure.

00:31 So, yeah, this is a Verge GS Ultra

00:34 that we announced earlier this year.

00:36 It is the most powerful electric motorcycle in the market.

00:39 The very distinct look and feel

00:42 that comes from the rear part of the bike

00:45 is not just a gimmick,

00:47 it is a technology that has pushed us to this design.

00:51 So normally with electric motorcycles,

00:54 you have the motor right here and power transmission

00:57 and the battery pack goes on top of the motor.

01:00 And that's problematic because battery packs are very heavy,

01:03 100 kilo, and so what we've done

01:05 is that we moved the motor to the rear rim

01:08 and we patented it.

01:09 So this is the motor?

01:11 This is the motor,

01:11 and it's the most powerful motor ever put in a motorcycle.

01:14 And by doing that,

01:16 we've been able to remove all power transmission

01:19 and provide no friction loss of any kind,

01:23 but also the entire body of the motorcycle

01:25 is now available for battery.

01:27 So battery pack starts from the very bottom,

01:29 giving it the lowest center of gravity in any motorbike.

01:32 And that means maneuverability, easy control.

01:35 It also goes zero to 100 kilometers per hour

01:38 or zero to 60 miles per hour in 2.5 seconds.

01:41 Which is reasonable.

01:42 It is very reasonable.

01:43 It's like you need a Batman clothes or something like that.

01:48 Yeah, yeah, yeah.

01:49 It's so powerful.

01:50 It's also 233 miles, 375 kilometers, the maximum range.

01:55 It's insanely powerful bike.

01:59 Fastest charge time of any electric motorcycle

02:01 with 25 minutes.

02:03 Wow.

02:03 With supercharger, also the longest range,

02:06 the fastest acceleration,

02:09 the highest peak power and so forth.

02:12 So it's really a super bike.

02:14 Fantastic.

02:15 1,200 new meters of torque as well.

02:16 Let's not forget to mention that.

02:19 It's crazy.

02:20 So you've got, is it three models?

02:23 Yeah, so we have the base model

02:24 and then the pro model, which is right there.

02:26 And this is ultra, the high-end model.

02:28 Yeah.

02:29 And then there's a Mika Häkkinen.

02:30 Yeah, we have special editions

02:32 that are basically based out of either the pro

02:35 or the ultra models.

02:36 Mika Häkkinen edition is like carbon fiber

02:40 and all the Formula One aesthetics

02:42 and very special Mika Häkkinen specific designs

02:46 that were designed together with him.

02:48 He's an investor and an advisor in the company.

02:51 And then today we announced the California edition,

02:54 which is specific to the kind of launch year in California,

02:58 which is this poppy orange that we have right there.

03:02 So it's, yeah, it is three kind of sub models

03:06 and then there's some variations,

03:09 like thematical variations.

03:11 And the burning question that our viewers are gonna have is,

03:14 are they gonna come to the UK?

03:17 Well, that we've been getting a lot

03:19 and our CFO is from the UK, our COO is out of the UK,

03:24 our chief program manager, our program officer

03:27 is out of the UK.

03:27 So we have already quite a bit of engineering center

03:31 in the UK as well.

03:32 So I don't think it will be too many months.

03:35 Sometime in the spring we'll be coming to the UK.
