00:00 Since yesterday, the 5-year closure of PNR for the construction of the North-South Commuter Railway

00:06 has become emotional for some of its people.

00:11 This is the last train leaving from the historic PNR Tutuban Station in Manila.

00:22 From tomorrow until the next 5 years,

00:25 you will not see this scene here.

00:28 The operation will be stopped to allow the construction of the North-South Commuter Railway

00:33 that will run from Clark Freeport Zone and Metro Manila to Calamba, Laguna.

00:38 We are asking for forgiveness and a little bit of patience from our riding public.

00:45 As a reminder, employees and their families boarded a train to travel to Alabang

00:50 and returned to Tutuban Station.

00:52 Aside from the passengers, they are the ones who will be affected by the closure,

00:56 especially those who are in the operations.

00:58 Those who lost their jobs did not even transfer to PNR B-Call.

01:02 We can recommend within the DOTR family to other agencies.

01:06 I am thankful for your long service in PNR.

01:14 And we look forward to be working with you in the other rail system of DOTR.

01:21 It is sad, but it is how it is.

01:25 We are not choosy. We will resign and look for a job opportunity.

01:31 Passengers who use PNR daily are also saddened by the 5-year closure of the train.

01:40 The fare is cheap and it is better to travel by train.

01:47 It is a big loss because it is only 24 hours from Alabang to Tutuban.

01:52 While the bus fare is 50.

01:54 The initial 25 buses approved for PNR route are temporary.

02:00 It is time for the North-South Commuter Railway to finish the new train system

02:05 that will accommodate up to 800,000 passengers daily

02:09 compared to 30,000 per day now.

02:12 And the old trains, railways, and stations like what you see here in Tutuban

02:18 will be replaced by high-tech, faster, and more modern facilities

02:24 that will be more equal to modern train systems in other countries.
