00:00 From 9-line, it became 10-line, the new version of the map released by China.
00:09 It was praised not only by the Philippines, but also by the Indian nation.
00:14 Why? Because of the performance of J.P. Soriano.
00:17 In the celebration of their first National Surveying and Mapping Promotion Day,
00:26 China released the 2023 version of their Standard Map.
00:31 The new map can be found on Chinese websites,
00:35 which were also shared by the Chinese Embassy in the Philippines by the Philippine media.
00:40 The 2023 version of the China Map was noticed and praised by the former Supreme Court Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio.
00:49 From the 9-line map that is now available in almost the entire South China Sea, including the West Philippine Sea,
00:57 the China Map became 10-line.
01:00 According to Carpio, based on the legend or details of the 2023 version of the China Map,
01:06 they said that the entire South China Sea was divided by their national boundary.
01:13 So they said that the lines in the South China Sea, whether 9 or 10, constitute their national boundary.
01:24 So if it's your national boundary, everything within that is your national territory.
01:29 It's clear now. They have clarified it that way.
01:34 The 2023 China Map was also praised by some senators.
01:38 The latest map of the People's Republic of China is no longer 9-line. It is 10-line.
01:46 It's 10-line. It's beautiful in Taiwan Strait. It's too long.
01:52 It's too high. It's different. It's not being discussed.
01:56 With all due respect, it's not being discussed, the 9-line. It's 10-line.
02:00 I think the intention is to say that Taiwan is really part of China.
02:05 The Armed Forces of the Philippines responded.
02:08 They should respect the 2016 arbitral ruling where it was said that the 9-line is illegal.
02:17 It has no basis. And that they should, in fact, follow the rules-based international order.
02:24 The Chinese Embassy in the Philippines has not yet officially announced whether the 2023 map is really that bad.
02:33 But the National Security Council and National Task Force on the West Philippine Sea have made it clear to the government of China.
02:41 If the map is officially confirmed to have been issued by the People's Republic of China,
02:47 then the National Security Council will recommend to the DFA the issuance of a strong diplomatic protest over the issuance of this map
02:54 because it infringes upon the sovereignty, the sovereign rights, and the territorial integrity of the Philippines.
03:00 But according to Carpio, whatever China adds to their map, the decision of the U.N. Arbitral Tribunal will not change
03:09 when it says that the 9-line historical map of China is illegal.
03:15 This new map cannot change a period, comma, or a single letter or number of the arbitral award.
03:24 The arbitral award is there. It cannot be changed by this map.
03:29 But aside from the 10-line, China also included in their map some parts of India, which India is also protesting.
03:40 For GMA Integrated News, JP Soriano, Tutok 24 Horas.
