Nasa Timor Leste pa rin ang arestado na roong si dating congressman Arnie Teves. Sabi ng kanyang abogado, mag-a-apply sila ulit doon ng political asylum. Pag-aaralan din daw ang iba pang hakbang tulad ng pagdulog sa United Nations Commission on Human Rights.

00:00 Former Congressman Arnie Tevez was arrested in Timor-Leste.

00:05 His lawyer said that they will apply for political asylum.

00:10 He will study other fields like law in the United Nations Commission on Human Rights.

00:17 The National Bureau of Investigation team that went to Timor-Leste has returned to the Philippines.

00:26 But they are not with the former Negros Oriental representative Arnulfo Arnie Tevez Jr.

00:32 who was arrested last Thursday while playing in the golf range in Dili, the capital of Timor-Leste.

00:39 Tevez is accused of killing Negros Oriental Governor Ruel De Gamo and other members of the Pamplona in March 2023.

00:48 Tevez was also charged with three murder cases in 2019.

00:53 All of these were denied by the former congressman.

00:57 They have a process in Timor-Leste.

00:59 They are evaluating the request of Interpol and our request, the request of the Philippines.

01:07 That is a process in Timor-Leste.

01:09 What we are saying there is that we are going against all the process of the country where we are just a requesting party.

01:17 In an interview, Tevez's lawyer said that the former congressman faced a court in Timor-Leste yesterday

01:25 where he was extended 15 days in prison to hear his case.

01:31 He was also able to talk to his legal team there and was visited by a Filipino friend.

01:37 But two Philippine government agents tried to enter the cell phone to arrest Tevez in prison.

01:44 They said they were trying to embarrass and harass him.

01:47 The NBI denied this.

01:50 We were encouraged by the president of Timor-Leste, President Jose Ramos Horta,

02:00 to get a proof of life letter from Congressman Tevez.

02:06 According to Tevez's camp, the hearing will continue tomorrow where his team will gather arguments for the options of the former congressman,

02:16 as part of the political asylum request.

02:19 The NBI first gave a courtesy call to President Jose Ramos Horta in Timor-Leste.

02:25 The NBI said that Horta was the one who was able to get Tevez out of Timor-Leste.
