00:00 We have over the last couple of years, especially after last season, blow it up.
00:04 Coyle and Zaka aren't good enough and you and I credit to us kept saying you have the
00:08 core.
00:09 You've got guys like Pasternak and McAvoy and Swayman and Olmark and Carlo and you've
00:13 got guys there, Lindholm.
00:15 There's no reason to blow it up.
00:17 You've got elite young talent and you have a good culture.
00:20 So just build around it.
00:22 And they have done that.
00:23 They did that this year on a low budget credit to them.
00:26 Now when they lose in the second round, we will rip them.
00:28 And I mean, until then, you know, we gotta be, we're being honest.
00:33 Poke the Bear is powered by PrizePix, the exclusive daily fantasy partner of the CLNS
00:38 media network.
00:42 And welcome to Poke the Bear episode 213 presented by our friends over at PrizePix.
00:49 Go use that promo code CLNS to get up to $100 back on up to $100 of a deposit.
00:57 Can't think of a better deal than that.
00:58 I mean, that is a hundred bucks for a hundred bucks, 25 for 25, 50 for 50.
01:03 I mean, that is good.
01:05 PrizePix.
01:06 It's great daily fantasy stuff.
01:08 That's a go over there.
01:09 I hope you guys did it for Tuesday night's game.
01:13 You took more goals for David Pasternak because boy was scoring lots of goals.
01:19 Three goals gets the hat trick.
01:20 How about that?
01:21 What was that thing that they threw on the ice?
01:23 What's that officially called?
01:24 I saw you tweet about it.
01:25 I forget what.
01:26 I mean, I think probably the official way to describe it as a bear suit.
01:32 Some people called it a bear pelt.
01:34 I mean, it was that wasn't like, you know, a knockoff one.
01:38 I'm not saying it was an authentic bear pelt.
01:40 You're not taking that off the wall at Bugaboo Creek or anything, but that that had some
01:44 like quality to it.
01:46 That was a pretty nice, pretty nice suit that gets thrown on the ice, but makes it memorable.
01:50 If you have that situation where, you know, you're able to throw something, you're not
01:56 going to throw just like a regular beanie.
01:58 Like if you've got a bear suit on, you got to commit to it.
02:01 And it worked out well.
02:02 The fan who threw it on the ice, I think got a stick from Pasternak after the game.
02:06 So it works out.
02:07 I would say it'd be awkward if they threw that whole bear suit.
02:10 Then Pasternak chose a different hat and then they just kind of swiped up the bear suit.
02:14 Someone just throws like someone throws like a nice white crisp Stetson on the ice and
02:18 he's like, I've been wanting one of those.
02:20 Are you like Fred Astaire?
02:22 Fred Astaire and have it like dropped on your arm?
02:24 Yeah, someone just watched an entire marathon of Yellowstone and bought a nice Stetson right
02:28 for the game and threw it on the ice for that.
02:30 So yeah, that would be that'd be interesting.
02:34 But anyways, that's Connor Ryan.
02:35 I'm Evan Marinovsky.
02:36 Connor, what is up?
02:37 Evan, I'm doing well.
02:38 How are you doing?
02:39 Doing great.
02:40 Doing great.
02:41 I couldn't I couldn't not intro us.
02:43 People would be like, man, they didn't say things were great.
02:46 Evan didn't ask what is up.
02:48 That's you know, the world's going to fall off its axis if that doesn't happen.
02:53 So I wanted to make sure that we we got that in there.
02:57 David Poshnok, though, obviously, I mentioned the hat trick against the Senators six to
03:01 did I see TSN mentioned Chris Kelly as a potential Senators coaching candidate next season?
03:08 Yes, I actually did see that.
03:10 And I mean, it would make sense, right?
03:12 Like this guy who's got ties to Ottawa is an up and coming coach, you know, has a good
03:17 track record in Boston.
03:19 That would be a guy that if you're the Senators and you're looking to, you know, try to add
03:23 maybe some stability to this team as a whole.
03:25 Chris Kelly does make a whole lot of sense.
03:28 So that is definitely something worth keeping tabs on.
03:30 You'll get just, you know, whether it's him, Saka, who's been in for a while, was a former
03:34 head coach and, you know, has a pretty strong track record as well.
03:37 Like the you know, the Bruins, you look at just their strengths, having an entire an
03:43 entire roster of talent across the coaching staff here.
03:47 Sooner or later, it's going to come do I feel like we've seen that with the Patriots for
03:50 years, right, where they had such a stacked coaching staff.
03:53 Sooner or later, someone's going to poach them.
03:55 So that is definitely something to keep tabs on with a guy like Kelly.
03:59 Hopefully the Bruins have more.
04:00 Hopefully those coaches have a little more success than Pat's coaches did when they left
04:04 the Patriots.
04:05 But I mean, Kelly's an interesting I mean, Kelly's a good candidate, young, you know,
04:10 played the right way, like the exact kind of player that becomes a coach.
04:13 It's worked out well here.
04:16 So again, I wouldn't be shocked if he's a name that gets tossed around a ton, you know,
04:22 what you know, when the when the season ends and the coaching jobs open up.
04:26 So that wouldn't wouldn't shock me at all.
04:29 And this is unrelated.
04:30 This is a question with Pasternak back to Pasternak that we've asked throughout the
04:35 season.
04:36 And it's, you know, is David Pasternak a legitimate heart trophy candidate?
04:40 Should he be one of the three that gets the most looks at the end of the year?
04:45 And a lot of people look at a Kucharoff or Nathan McKinnon, and those guys have been
04:48 lights out.
04:49 You know, McDavid's over 100 points because, of course, our Tami Panarin has been outstanding.
04:54 But I just, you know, yes, it's hard to pick against a guy like Nathan McKinnon, who, you
05:00 know, they don't have Gabriel Landis cog and he's still just, you know, putting up a ton
05:04 of points.
05:05 And, you know, Kucharoff is kind of doing something similar down in Tampa.
05:09 I just keep looking at the situation Pasternak's in and, you know, you lose, you know, your
05:15 center, you lose Bergeron and Craji and you're at ninety nine points.
05:21 Like to me, fourth in the NHL, Bruins are the best team in hockey right now, which is
05:26 crazy to say, but they are.
05:30 I don't know.
05:31 What do you think?
05:32 Yeah, I mean, I think Pasternak is going to be right in the right in the thick of it in
05:35 terms of that conversation.
05:36 Right.
05:37 I think it also comes back to, I think, the players overall importance to this team and
05:42 where this team would be without said player.
05:44 And I think there's a lot of guys to make very compelling arguments.
05:46 Like I'd probably say the front runner right now.
05:49 And I mean, you could also every year we could have this discussion and mention like Connor
05:52 McDavid of like how dog crap that team would be if he wasn't there.
05:57 But I think in this situation, we had a few other guys step up like I probably put McKinnon
06:02 at the top right now just because I was going to say he'd be my he'd be my number one.
06:05 Yeah.
06:06 He's just been on such an absurd tear.
06:07 You as you said, Landis, Scogs been out the whole year.
06:11 Kill my cause dealing with an injury.
06:12 And I mean, he's still 80 percent.
06:14 Kill my car is still one of the best defense in the league, but he still has had some,
06:19 you know, maybe lapses or maybe he's just not playing to his regular expectations.
06:23 That's what we've seen from Kilmer car.
06:25 So a lot more than put on McKinnon shoulders and he's delivered.
06:28 But you can make the same argument with like the Bruins, especially early on in this year
06:32 when they had so many different moving parts, so many so much roster upheaval there that
06:38 if Jim Prosser wasn't kind of your offensive cheat code, keeping you ahead of games, giving
06:42 you leads, there'd be a whole lot of, you know, one nothing games, one one games.
06:46 The Bruins would be trudging through like you look at just how many one goal games the
06:50 Bruins have been in.
06:52 What happens if you don't have a hundred point forty goal score and David Poster not kind
06:56 of being the the game breaker there for you in so many critical situations?
07:00 And yes, you can look at, you know, the the shootout attempts or the the D zone play has
07:07 left a lot to be desired at times the turnovers.
07:10 But that's something you take with a guy like Poster and I won't fall down that rabbit hole.
07:14 That's something you take with a guy that offensively talented that, you know, that
07:19 impactful for your team.
07:20 And I think, again, it's a testament to Poster not great that, as you said, doesn't have
07:25 burst on, doesn't have crazy, doesn't have a lot of guys out there to see him kind of
07:30 change his game a little bit right and become more of a playmaker this year.
07:33 He's already surpassed his career high and assist in a season.
07:38 And you know, he knows that defense is a game planning around him.
07:40 They're trying to take away that one time or shot, see him kind of adjust on the fly
07:44 and still find ways to generate offense and make so many guys around him better.
07:49 Whether that's Zaka, Danton Heinen, so many players that have been kind of a rotating
07:53 cast on this roster.
07:56 He has to be, I think, absolutely in the mix.
07:58 Like, is he the front runner?
07:59 No, but when you look at last year, where I think he finished top three as a guy on
08:03 a much stronger team, he deserves to be in that conversation, I think, for sure.
08:08 Oh, God.
08:09 And I mean, you think about it.
08:10 Usually you see centers make guys around them better playing down the middle, having the
08:15 puck the most all those things.
08:17 He has center numbers and he has a center like impact on his line.
08:21 It's been that way all year, whether it be scoring little plays assists.
08:26 I mean, just how good of a passer he's become.
08:28 And that's been years in the making.
08:30 But still, I mean, this year there have been some passes he's made.
08:32 There have been some plays he set up where I'm like, wow, I, you know, even, even with
08:37 David Poshnok, that shocked me.
08:38 So I believe he's in the mix.
08:42 I think he has to be.
08:43 I just think, you know, Bruins are the best team in hockey.
08:46 He's clearly the best player they have.
08:48 He's been above and beyond what we even expected from him this season, I think.
08:52 And you know, in terms of that stuff, he's at least top three again, McKinnon's my top,
08:58 my number one guy.
08:59 But after that, I think it's very debatable.
09:03 And I think Poshnok is either, you know, probably in that three spot because Kutcherov's putting
09:07 up some crazy numbers.
09:08 Kutcherov's been ridiculous.
09:09 Like, that's hard to just, you know, miss.
09:13 But and they've had their issues, but I just think what Poshnok's been able to do, given
09:18 the circumstances of who they lost last year, it's hard to say that he's not a Hart Trophy
09:23 candidate when he's been that good.
09:26 And I just think whether or not he wins the Hart, which I don't think he will, but you
09:29 know, just being in the mix, I just think his ascendance as a player this year, like,
09:34 you know, there were questions.
09:35 I mean, I remember, you know, two years ago, obviously he had a lot of stuff he was dealing
09:39 with off the ice.
09:41 But you know, he, you know, he didn't have his greatest season.
09:43 Then last year he was outstanding.
09:45 And then this year it's like, all right, well, he was great last year, but now you don't
09:49 have Bergeron.
09:50 You don't have crazy.
09:51 You know, you don't have guys like Bertuzzi and Orloff and the team is worse and he's
09:56 been even better.
09:57 And I just, to me, I think he has been worth every penny of that money.
10:04 And I'm really curious to see what his playoff performance is like this year.
10:07 I hate the narrative of Poshnok is not a playoff player.
10:11 And it's like, would you look at his stats?
10:13 Would you please look at his playoff stats?
10:15 I believe he's well, like well over being a point per game player in the playoffs.
10:19 Yeah.
10:20 I don't have them right in front of me, but it's stuff like that that always I'm like,
10:23 or like when we've done this before, like, well, shootout move.
10:27 There's a lot of effort in it.
10:28 Or, oh, overtime.
10:29 There's a lot of effort in this breakaway.
10:31 It's like, he keeps it simple.
10:33 It's, you know, I don't know.
10:34 Like it, it's just his game.
10:35 Yeah.
10:36 Sometimes it works and it doesn't.
10:38 So I see him as a legitimate heart trophy candidate.
10:41 Especially, you know, again, three goals against the senators.
10:44 That's another day at the office for one David Poshnok.
10:48 As I said, you guys would have been smart to go to prize picks for this, but don't miss
10:52 out on it.
10:53 And so here's a quick word from our friends over at prize picks.
10:57 Football season may be over, but the action on the floor is heating up.
11:01 Whether it's a tournament season or the fight for a playoff home court, there's no shortage
11:06 of high stakes basketball moments this time of year.

11:44 Use the code CLNS for the first deposit match up to a hundred dollars.
11:49 Pick more, pick less.
11:51 It's that easy.
11:55 Kevin Shattenkirk, by the way, had three assists on a Tuesday night.
11:58 I was kind of surprised by that, but good for him.
12:02 Someone else who had quite the game, Justin Brezow, two goals.
12:06 This guy keeps killing it.
12:08 It's always around the net for him.
12:10 He's so good at just getting in there and just digging, you know, head down, nose to
12:16 the grindstone, getting dirty in the dirty areas.
12:19 I mean, you know, he's like a hockey, he's a hockey coach's dream.
12:24 Two goals last night.
12:25 He's continued, you know, every game I feel like for him on the fourth line has been good.
12:29 Could he be fighting for potential third line minutes?
12:32 I mean, yeah, I think he's probably in that mix, right?
12:35 You look at, I mean, and on the game on Tuesday, Van Riemseek gets scratched.
12:40 He's been dealing with, you know, like an extended illness that I think has probably
12:43 played into his extended kind of slump here.
12:46 And he's also a guy that's had a lot of mileage.
12:49 You hit the point when maybe you want to give him a little bit of a rest before the playoffs.
12:54 But yeah, Brezow, I think you look at his skill set and like he fits on either one of
12:58 those lines in terms of what I think they're trying to build, right?
13:01 Like that fourth line, we've mentioned it before, can really be interchangeable if they
13:04 have a whole, you know, uh, assortment of players out there, right?
13:08 Like you can go speed with guys like Boquis and Beecher and Lauco.
13:12 If you know, Pat Maroon's back and you want to add some more, you know, half to that line,
13:16 you can do Maroon, Beecher, um, and Brezow there.
13:20 But you look at where, you know, Brezow has been so effective and, you know, a lot of
13:25 it's been net front power play, obviously, but even like in a few of these games, uh,
13:30 when you have a guy who's six, five, and again, what we've been told is that he's not really
13:34 the most physical player for his size, but when you're six, five, 215 pounds, if you're
13:39 holding onto the puck down low, pretty hard to knock you off the puck.
13:43 So like, if he's a guy that maybe fits in on that third line and all of a sudden you've
13:46 got, you know, Frederick, Geeky and Brezow, and you're just trying to do like a straightforward
13:53 meat and potatoes, puck possession line, pretty hard to knock quite a few of those guys off
13:57 the puck.
13:58 Um, and it kind of adds that extra, um, element there in terms of what he brings as opposed
14:03 to maybe someone like Heinen, who's playing, I think a lot better in an elevator role with
14:07 Pasternak and Thaka.
14:08 So, uh, you know, Jim Montgomery was really, really, uh, pleased with Brezow's game, not
14:13 just on Tuesday, but pretty much his whole stay up in Boston so far.
14:17 He said, you know, out of, I think the 13 games Brezow has played only one game stood
14:21 out to him where he left thinking that he needed to show a little bit more.
14:25 So if you're a rookie who again was kind of under the radar, we weren't really putting
14:29 him on our, our watch list out of camp or anything like that, he got kind of called
14:33 up and it was a bit of a surprise when it happened and to really earn his spot here
14:37 and not really, you know, find himself, you know, uh, getting knocked in and out of the
14:42 lineup, uh, getting called up by Montgomery of wanting a little bit more like, again,
14:46 Brezow's not reinventing the wheel.
14:47 He's not doing anything, uh, maybe unexpected for what he projects as a player in the NHL,
14:53 but what his skillset is, is something I think can be used on either one of those bottom
14:57 six lines.
14:58 So it is, and I, you know, even look at like a potential third line of Frederick geeky
15:02 and Brezo.
15:03 I like what that brings.
15:04 You put Frederick back on the left side.
15:05 So he's on his, uh, on his strong side.
15:08 And, and I just think, you know, in terms of digging with the puck down low cycling,
15:13 like getting chances from behind the net, which is kind of their bread and butter.
15:16 I think that adds an element.
15:18 I think, you know, we talked about this on Bruins beat earlier this week of when Maroon
15:21 comes back, what do you do with that fourth line?
15:23 And we kind of put Brezo in a box on the fourth line of like, we didn't really think about
15:29 him in the third line role, but it's an interesting point you make of a, what if Brezo moves up?
15:33 Like what, you know, the way he's been playing and what he's been bringing, uh, why wouldn't
15:37 you just move him to the third line and try it?
15:39 And I agree, like now that I hear it, I want Montgomery to try that, uh, in these next
15:43 couple of games, uh, and to see what you can have with that, because I think it presents
15:46 a lot of different opportunities.
15:47 Um, and I think it goes to show you, uh, it adds size, which I think is a good thing
15:54 to have there.
15:55 And he has pretty good hands for a big guy.
15:57 Um, and as you mentioned, like you might not be the most physical guy, but hard to knock
16:01 a guy who's six foot five off the puck.
16:03 And if it is, then he's not going to be NHL.
16:06 So I, Brezo has been a really nice, uh, surprise throughout the year.
16:11 Um, I want to dive into a goaltending.
16:13 I want to dive into the seventh player award.
16:15 Uh, but before we do that quick word from our friends over at factor meals, get started

17:22 And now let's get back to the show.
17:25 So Lena's old mark got another win on Tuesday night, beating the senators.
17:29 I know they're still, you know, they're Ottawa.
17:30 It's not, you know, they have some pretty good young guns though.
17:33 I mean, that team like in the next couple of years should be good.
17:36 I think we've been saying that for about them in the Red Wings and the Sabres like for the
17:40 last what, three years we've been like, they're going to next year or like, you know, the
17:44 next couple of years, they're going to be really good.
17:47 So we've been kind of like a decade.
17:48 It feels like it's been forever.
17:51 It's crazy to think that senators team that went to the Eastern Conference final in 2017
17:55 kind of just fell apart.
17:58 Like they just traded off like every single piece.
18:01 And that was that a lot of a lot of good players.
18:03 And again, also, I think harkens back to was it, you know, even just a year ago or two
18:08 years ago, people were like, oh, Bruins, blow it up.
18:10 Complete rebuild.
18:12 Stay in the picture.
18:13 Like, again, stay in the mix when you've got guys like Pasternak and McAvoy and the goalies
18:17 and all this.
18:19 Keep on retooling on the fly.
18:20 Keep on building around kind of your base of star talent and stay in the mix is one
18:24 it's hockey and it can happen.
18:26 And listen, these are a couple of teams that I think ideally, you know, like are motivated
18:32 to get back into the picture, like the Red Wings are a prestige franchise and they've
18:36 been scratching and clawing to get back.
18:38 Look at like the Flyers, a proud franchise that's working on that.
18:41 And they've got like Carter Gautier and all this other stuff you got to deal with along
18:44 the way.
18:45 Like, it's so tough to get back into a spot where like everything has to go your way or
18:50 you've got a a young base of talent to look to the future towards.
18:54 So Bruins fans don't hope for a rebuild anytime soon.
18:58 Like keep on retooling.
18:59 Keep on staying in the mix because all these teams were still waiting to see them break
19:03 through and hasn't been the case yet.
19:04 Well that's the thing.
19:05 And you can look at like Buffalo like Buffalo's this team that has a very proud fan base and
19:10 then an original six.
19:11 But there's still lots of I mean the Sabres are usually the number one thing up there.
19:15 And for the last what?
19:17 Almost 15 years.
19:18 And what's the playoff drought at now?
19:20 Last time was what like 2010 I think when they lost to the when they lost to the Bruins
19:25 Miro the hero that you saw of Shetan like ended the Buffalo Sabres as we know it along
19:31 with Milan Lucic running over Ryan Miller.
19:35 But again like we have over the last couple of years especially after last season blow
19:41 it up.
19:42 Coyle and Zaka aren't good enough and you and I credit to us kept saying you have the
19:46 core you've got guys like Pasternak and McAvoy and Swayman and all Mark and Carlo and you've
19:51 got guys there Lindholm.
19:53 There's no reason to blow it up.
19:55 You've got elite young talent and you have a good culture.
19:58 So just build around it.
19:59 And they have done that.
20:00 They did that this year on a low budget credit to them.
20:04 Now when they lose in the second round we will rip them.
20:06 But I mean until then you know we got to be we're being honest which is what we always
20:11 aim to do.
20:12 Speaking of in that Salinas Omar beats Senators on Tuesday night.
20:17 Birds play the Rangers on Thursday in a pretty big game.
20:22 Do you think Omar should get the nod again.
20:25 I think if there was a time to do it to deviate and see how you can you know have some flexibility
20:31 with that goalie rotation feels like a perfect opportunity to do so right.
20:34 I mean Omar you know won three straight games since the trade deadline and all that stuff's
20:39 been put past them.
20:40 He's sporting a nine fifty six a percentage over that stretch.
20:43 Swayman has you know I think what like a nine or two say percentage since the all star break.
20:48 So he has taken a little bit of a step back here.
20:50 So and again this is what we talked about on poke the bear right.
20:54 Or on Bruinsby looking at this goalie rotation.
20:58 It's not something where it has to be strict like one one star one star 50 50 reps like
21:02 you can at the ideal times roll with a guy for two straight games.
21:07 You know if that allows you to keep a hot hand in that and get that I don't know anxiety
21:13 that internal competition brewing with the other goalie who's like all right my games
21:17 kind of hit a low right here.
21:18 I got I got to get my I got to get my stuff together here before you know I lose even
21:23 more reps like you know it's not like it's what it has to be one extreme of the other
21:27 has to be 50 50 reps or Omar has two good games in a row.
21:32 He's going eight straight games now like it's almost like when you have this unorthodox
21:36 weird rotation and you have the luxury of two number one goalies you can you know augmented
21:41 however you want to best put your team in a position to win.
21:44 So you look at this Rangers team that's right up there with the Bruins and the standings
21:49 very dangerous team if all marks playing at a high level right now.
21:51 So you know he does in a situation where you get back to back stats you know he performs
21:56 see how all how Swain in response from that like when you got you know what is it 13 12
22:03 regular season games left.
22:04 There's only so much time you can really see how you can kind of handle these goalies where
22:10 you get right to the playoffs and then the margin for error and the second guessing only
22:13 to get higher from there.
22:14 So does seem like right now is a perfect time to do it.
22:17 It is.
22:18 I mean again like this isn't the playoffs.
22:20 This is when you try these things.
22:22 Omar clearly has been the better goalie for the last you know week or so.
22:27 So yeah I'm fine with it because it also like you mentioned it could motivate Swain to like
22:31 all right balance starting to shift.
22:34 I got up my game.
22:35 I've got to be a little bit better you know swimming for most of the year has kind of
22:37 been the presumptive game one starter.
22:40 Now I don't know if that's the case.
22:42 I mean I look I want to see Swain get his chance in the playoffs before game seven of
22:48 the first round.
22:50 But I still like if Omar is going to be this hot like you got to go with the hot guy at
22:56 least to start.
22:59 We'll see about that.
23:00 The seventh player award.
23:01 This is always a fun one.
23:02 That's the Bruins seven the player award is rapidly approaching.
23:06 I went on and looked Nessun dot com at kind of the guys you can vote for Parker Walters
23:10 Spoon has worked his way in Charlie coils in the mix for it as well which is debatable
23:15 considering he's like a top line center but whatever you know they make the rules we don't
23:21 we bow to authority.
23:22 You know it is.
23:23 Yes.
23:24 Right now who is your seventh player award winner.
23:28 I mean it's a testament to I think this Bruins team that you've got a lot of pretty convincing
23:32 candidates in terms of you know low value signings that have worked out well.
23:36 Even yeah like I don't know if coil will win it but there's just plenty of credit for being
23:40 a guy on pace for career highs and stepping up and making that vacancy you know left by
23:45 Bertrand again he's not going to be Bergeron but you look at the production how he's driven
23:50 play how he's going to be better.
23:52 He's going to be better than Patrice Bergeron.
23:54 Exactly.
23:55 We'll clip it.
23:56 We'll clip it.
23:57 But you know he deserves plenty of credit for that for stepping into that spot.
24:00 But if you if I had to go right now I'm going to go with Dan Heinen just in terms of this
24:06 is the guy that is making you know league minimum you know was kind of viewed as you
24:12 know a guy on way on the outside looking in the Bruins sign Alex Chia on to a PTO deal
24:17 before Heinen even.
24:19 That's right.
24:20 I always forget about Chia's on.
24:22 Yeah.
24:23 Like they had you know Heinen you know impresses during the preseason still has to wait like
24:27 two weeks for he actually can sign that contract and then comes in as on pay you know on pace
24:32 for you know 17 goals passing 30 points and it's going to fit in very well kind of wherever
24:38 they put him like we already know from the first in here where you know Heinen can be
24:42 a really versatile versatile player for this team but even especially as of the last couple
24:46 of weeks with Pasternak and Zaka and if you probably told people that we're looking for
24:51 a rebuild before the year starts like no they're going to put in Dan and Heinen with Pasternak
24:56 and Zaka people like holy shit.
24:59 We're not watching this season.
25:01 And again he's kind of fit in well wherever it is and especially when you factor in that
25:04 price tag.
25:05 So you know I look there's other you know very deserving candidates like you know he's
25:10 been really good.
25:11 He's a guy right in the mix JVR has been really solid for most of this year especially only
25:16 making a million but I don't know like I feel like JVR is a guy that's produced before you
25:21 look at he that's a guy that you looked at his his reps and how he's used in Seattle.
25:27 He's a guy we were like all right this guy just averages another three four minutes of
25:32 ice time per game here with the Bruins like the production should uptick as well.
25:36 Heinen who like couldn't land a deal for anyone you know this past offseason to come here on
25:44 that deal and really produce and fill out a role wherever is neat wherever need be.
25:49 I think he's right now my my running favorite for a seventh player.
25:53 He probably is the favorite given the circumstance you mentioned of like he kind of was like
25:57 the kid on JV hoping to get the call up to varsity for a while.
26:04 I want to go off the board.
26:05 I want to say Brandon Carlo.
26:09 You know just because he's geeky is another one geeky would be my runner up kind of along
26:14 with Heinen similar kind of you know I think Heinen's been a bit more just given the circumstances
26:19 but he's been there as well.
26:21 Brandon Carlo how good of a shutdown defenseman he's been this year.
26:25 There's been some instability on the back end.
26:27 There's been injuries.
26:29 He's had his own injuries in the past.
26:30 There were a lot of questions about Brandon Carlo you know coming into the last couple
26:34 of years with his concussions and his play had sort of you know not gone where they wanted
26:39 it to go.
26:41 He'd struggled a bit.
26:42 I just look at how good of a shutdown guy he's been this year.
26:46 Again the points are not anything to write home about but just his stick and how well
26:50 he is at defending his own blue line and preventing offensive zone entries for the other team
26:56 and just how good of a shutdown guy he is.
26:58 I know they've struggled at times to preserve leads.
27:01 That's not completely his fault.
27:04 To me Carl just how good of a defenseman he's been how stable he's been.
27:09 I'd want to give it to Carlo and I know he makes a lot of money and I know that he's
27:12 kind of a pillar of this team especially with this core.
27:16 But I don't know.
27:17 I like shut down defenseman so I kind of err on that side but I like I can't disagree with
27:23 Heinen I can't disagree with Geeky.
27:25 Ben Reeves X cooled off a bit in the last month or so.
27:28 So I think that might kind of hurt you know the you know what have you done for me lately
27:31 type thing in terms of other people you know like Wotherspoons fit in well but I don't
27:37 think you win.
27:38 Frederick's another guy who's who's an interesting one.
27:41 You know Coyle has a lot of points.
27:43 So like the fans pick him because he has all those points.
27:47 I don't know you know but I think Heinen or Carlo or Geeky to me are kind of the three
27:52 that you define at the most probably Heinen and Geeky like define the true seventh player.
27:58 But if Carlos up for it I have a tough time not picking him.
28:02 So it should be interesting.
28:04 It should be fun as it always is.
28:05 Zaka won it last year.
28:07 He did.
28:08 And I will say Bruins fans have I think got a lot better with seven player award voting.
28:15 I remember it used to always be like the guy who all sudden breaks like the 50 point barriers
28:20 like not that guy.
28:21 It's like you know it was like McAvoy who like isn't was early on was not a seventh
28:25 player like Pasternak has won it.
28:27 You have like what Chris Wagner won it one year.
28:30 I think Coyle won it his first full season with the Bruins.
28:34 They're doing a better job at finding these guys that are you know maybe not the headliners
28:38 but I've done plenty to you know become fan favorites make that make an impact and do
28:44 maybe some of the little things that help this team win.
28:47 So hopefully people whether it's you know Hein or someone else recognizes those players
28:50 that have taken a big step forward and really helped out this team this year.
28:55 They're listening to us.
28:56 That's what it is.
28:57 It's we are ideologies have been placed into our listeners and the fans which is which
29:01 is great.
29:02 Anyways Connor what can people look forward to from you over at the globe and Boston dot
