00:00 Hi, I'm Megan, a reporter for Sussex World and these are the top stories from across
00:05 the county for today, Tuesday March 19th. A teenager has been left with potentially
00:10 life-threatening injuries after he was stabbed in East Sussex last night.
00:14 Emergency services were called to Warnock Road in Polgate at about 9pm
00:19 where a 17 year old boy was treated by paramedics before being taken to
00:23 hospital with the injuries according to Sussex Police. An urgent investigation is
00:28 now underway to locate and arrest any suspects. Warnock Road and High Street
00:32 have been closed and there will be a significant police presence in the area
00:36 for some time, the police force said. More explosives have been found on a Sussex
00:40 stretch of coast dubbed the UK's most dangerous beach by national newspapers.
00:44 A controlled explosion was carried out on Medmurray Beach, Selsie on Sunday March
00:50 17th after the Coast Guard rescue team was called to report a suspected
00:54 ordnance. The beach is closed to the public due to several highly explosive
00:59 ordnance being discovered over the years. Several national newspapers including the
01:05 Daily Express and the Mirror have dubbed Medmurray the UK's most dangerous beach
01:09 while the Coast Guard's had to issue many stark reminders to stay away over
01:13 the years. In 2021 the Coast Guard said Medmurray Beach is closed not because
01:19 we're all killjoys but because you might get killed if you ignore those signs.
01:23 And finally a group of residents are involved in a row with the Worthing
01:27 Primary School after instances of heavy flooding which they say is destroying
01:31 their gardens. Residents living near the entrance of Hawthorne's Primary School
01:35 in Poplar Road have complained of flooding that has seemingly worsened
01:39 since new artificial grass area was laid at the school site. However the school has
01:44 argued that the staff has satisfied the artificial grass provides adequate
01:48 drainage. Headteacher Wendy Lawson said "the high amount of rain we have been
01:53 experiencing is causing issues for all of us. The artificial grass which the
01:57 school has installed is manufactured with the hold backing and laid to
02:01 industry standard onto an aggregate to improve the permeability of the soil. We
02:06 can't recall such a run of wet weather and we are all hoping the rain stops soon."
