Joy Mukena reflects on a night of mixed emotions for Crawley Town after draw against Stockport County
Transcript
00:00 Battling tough point that we've earned ourselves here at the ball for a starting start. Can I get your overall reflection on the game first?
00:06 Yeah I think it's a good point. Again, came from behind, we're showing determination again to get the point.
00:14 And we're a bit disappointed because we knew where we would have taken us, but we're in one of the good places to take us.
00:22 The gaffer said the same thing at the end of the day. Scott Port are second in the league, they're fighting for automatic promotion.
00:30 To be disappointed with only a point shows not only how far this team has come since we were at this stage last year, but how much the lads have grown over the season as well.
00:38 It must be conflicting emotions in the dressing room because at one stage it's a great point, but you also want a bit more.
00:45 Yeah exactly that. I think when the gaffer was talking he reiterated where we would have been if we won, but he was also positive and said that it is a good point against a good team.
00:57 That's how I can say it.
01:00 Yeah, it's not much we can say about that. The whole situation, the gaffer was so touched on how our results went our way over the weekend as well.
01:07 There is that element of looking at where the three points would have taken us, but at the end of the day there's still lots to be proud about, lots to be positive about.
01:16 There's some big games coming up, isn't there?
01:18 Yeah, there are. Obviously we got away first. I think we'll be looking to win that game.
01:25 Even though we are away from home, I think we're in a good run of form.
01:29 We'll go into that game with all the confidence, bringing it in from the last couple of weeks.
01:33 Not lots of minutes for you recently, but you've come into the side, especially in these last two games, with the harrogate injury with Dylan as well, you came in there and you put in some really assured performances.
01:44 Obviously you would have never have doubted your ability, but how pleasing has it been to come in and perform so well and not have to really get stuck in like some players would?
01:54 Yeah, obviously for me personally I've been happy with my performances and just happy I could help the team to positive results.
02:03 Also, I think my time not playing was a bit frustrating, but I think that time sitting out helped me learn a lot from the players I weren't playing and the gaffer as well.
02:18 I thought maybe you thought the time was right, that you could put me in and you trusted me.
02:24 I just want to thank you for trusting me and hopefully I can keep playing well when I do play and help the team get as high as we can.
02:32 Yeah, there is a lot of exciting games coming up. We've only got nine to go this season. It's sort of flown by.
02:37 There's a lot to look forward to and as you say, we're in a good run of form and anything is possible for this team.
02:43 Yeah, exactly that. We're all positive. We all want to get into that play-off place. We think that is very achievable.
02:51 So, the next few games we're going to look to attack it and try and win. Hopefully.
02:56 Great job.
02:57 I think even from the start of the season, even though we were tipped to probably go down, we knew what we had in the building so we had a lot of belief that we could do something.
03:08 At this stage of the season, I don't think that was a surprise that we're here.
03:14 Because at the start, the gaffer put a lot of confidence into us. The way we played, our style, the players that he brought in, even though a lot were from non-league,
03:23 he brought the right players in to fit the style and I think it's worked nicely.
03:28 What's it been like to work under Scott and how much has he helped you personally to develop as a player this season?
03:34 I've enjoyed it. It's been a bit frustrating sometimes that I haven't been playing but I've got to respect his decisions and maybe if he thinks I wasn't ready then I'll respect it.
03:46 But he's a big gaffer, yeah.
03:48 You must be delighted with how it's gone in the last few games to be able to come to the team and to really show what you're about and to be in part such a good run of form that has put Crawley in such a good position to go for the play-offs.
03:59 Yeah, I've been enjoying it. It's been hard battles but it's been fun. Obviously last season I was in Conference Half so it is a step up but it's been fun battles that I've had in the last three games.
04:13 What's it been like to step up to League Two and how have you found it and trying to adapt your game to suit the league?
04:20 It's been tough but I've tried to take on board a lot, as much information as I can. Like I said before, watching players that are established in this league like Deon and trying to take bits from his game and implement it into my game.
04:40 Great, thank you very much.
