00:00 Jasper, you are used to win a lot of races. How does it feel to win your first monument?
00:05 It's incredible. I cannot realize a monument is something where you dream of.
00:10 And Tevlin Milano San Remo may be one of the only monuments I can win.
00:15 But I'm really proud. Also what Mathieu did in the final was an incredible job.
00:21 And I'm really proud and happy that we could manage and play it out as a team.
00:28 You also won the fastest ever Milano San Remo. How was it in the race for you?
00:34 They break the records every year. It seems like last year was also the fastest Milano San Remo.
00:40 So the speed is going faster and faster every year. I was feeling actually quite good.
00:46 I had a feeling today that it could be my day. I had really good legs from the start already.
00:51 I was feeling good. I also believed in it. But of course everything needs to fall in place.
00:57 Definitely on Poggio they looked at each other and I managed to come back.
01:02 Mathieu was there. He really did a big team job. I thank him a lot for what he did.
01:11 It was tight at the finish. Tell us about your last choices.
01:15 I was a bit afraid that Mats was still really strong. I didn't expect Michael Mathieu to be that good.
01:23 I didn't have to do one sprint all day. But after 300 km a sprint really feels strange and different.
01:33 I was happy I chose this final 5 cm left to beat him.
01:38 It looks like the two riders with you on stage are your good friends.
01:44 What can I say? This podium is one of the best podiums I've ever seen.
01:55 Both Michael and Jasper are really good friends. I'm really happy I could lose to them.
02:04 Right now when we were on podium it was one moment most beautiful in my life.
02:15 You say you lose. Is there any way to win?
02:18 There was a way to win today. I had really good legs.
02:22 Everybody wants to win here and everybody was expecting what we're going to do.
02:28 I'm really proud of the team. They put me in a good position for Cipresa and Poggio.
02:38 We did super strong both climbs. But today everybody else was also really good.
02:44 I couldn't make the gap in the final Poggio in the last couple of km.
02:51 I tried to do my best in the sprint. It was really good teamwork.
02:57 Next year we come again and try again to win it.
03:00 You've come fifth, fourth, third this year. Do you know where you'll be next year?
03:05 I hope not second. It sounds greedy but I want to win this race.
03:15 I will not be happy with second place.
03:17 Thank you very much.
03:18 Thank you.
03:19 Michael, four years in a row you make the top six of Milano-San Remo.
03:23 Second time on the podium. Do you have some regrets today?
03:26 No, I don't think any regrets. I'm really proud of my performance today.
03:32 I think I did everything right. I positioned myself well through the final sections.
03:38 The team did a great job as much as we could.
03:42 We had a lot of last minute changes for the team in the last few days with sickness and injuries.
03:48 We were trying to scramble to find as many guys as we could to help me today.
03:52 In the end I had to deliver the result whether we had a complete team or not.
03:58 I think all in all I'm really happy with the result.
04:02 Obviously being so close to the win it's a bit difficult to swallow at the moment.
04:07 I'm sure tomorrow morning I'll be proud of the ride.
04:10 In the last kilometre did you see yourself winning?
04:13 I did, yes. I don't know if it's on the camera but with 50 metres to go my glasses fell off.
04:19 I missed a couple of pedal strokes and that's when Philipsen came around.
04:25 I can't change it now.
04:27 You came to Milan with Taddei Pogacar. How did it feel to celebrate together on the podium?
04:34 It's ultra special. Taddei is such a big champion.
04:38 Such a young guy but still so down to earth.
04:41 The things this guy has achieved to still be a totally normal guy is his biggest credit to himself.
04:49 He's won basically everything on the calendar and he's still just a normal guy.
04:53 He's not above anyone else.
04:55 That's what I like most about him.
04:57 We can have a normal conversation and we can have so much fun together on and off the bike.
05:01 We had a great drive to Milan the other day just joking and talking shit.
05:06 I think that took a bit of pressure off us both.
05:09 Today we can still race against each other and still have a great time at the same time at the end.
05:14 Well done. Thank you.
05:15 Thank you.
05:17 You
05:20 You
