00:08:45 Between 11 and 12 Thursday, right?
00:08:48 Okay, fine. Bye.
00:08:50 Kate!
00:08:53 Good to see you.
00:08:55 Mary's on vacation, so I have to be my own receptionist.
00:08:58 How am I doing?
00:09:00 I hope you're not going to keep me waiting today. I want to get to the museum early.
00:09:04 I have to be at lunch by 12.30 with Mike and his mother.
00:09:07 No waiting. Go right in. The doctor will be with you shortly.
00:09:11 Okay.
00:09:12 So, what's happening?
00:09:23 My mother's driving me crazy as usual.
00:09:29 Did you talk to her?
00:09:31 Mm-hmm.
00:09:32 She's hinting around about surprising me for my birthday.
00:09:37 Ah. She's going to come up from Florida, is she?
00:09:40 That's her surprise.
00:09:42 How do you feel about seeing her?
00:09:46 Well, I feel I should want to see her.
00:09:51 It's been six months since we've been down there, but she'll just ruin my birthday.
00:09:57 And it's my day, not hers.
00:09:59 Well, now, think. What are our options?
00:10:04 I could make up an excuse and tell her not to come.
00:10:09 Mm-hmm.
00:10:10 No, I can't do that.
00:10:15 And let's not forget it's supposed to be a surprise. Anyway, it's not her. It's just...
00:10:21 I don't feel up to it, or her, or anything.
00:10:25 How are things going with Mike?
00:10:29 Fine.
00:10:30 Good.
00:10:31 No, they're not fine. What a dumb word that is.
00:10:38 He gave me one of his wham-bang specials this morning, and I'm mad at him.
00:10:44 Isn't that right? Shouldn't I be mad?
00:10:47 Yeah.
00:10:48 Did you tell him?
00:10:50 What?
00:10:52 That you were mad at him.
00:10:54 Of course not.
00:10:57 I moaned with pleasure at his touch. Isn't that what every man wants?
00:11:03 I don't know. Is it?
00:11:06 Don't start that stuff with me.
00:11:08 Don't you think you'd feel better if you snapped at Mike instead of me?
00:11:12 Think about where your anger is going.
00:11:17 I'm sorry.
00:11:23 Stop apologizing. Tell Mike he makes you mad.
00:11:27 Tell him he stinks in bed?
00:11:31 Does he?
00:11:35 Yes.
00:11:36 Then tell him.
00:11:38 Maybe there's something wrong with me.
00:11:45 There's nothing wrong with you.
00:11:47 Do you find me attractive?
00:11:50 Of course.
00:11:51 Would you want to sleep with me?
00:11:54 Yes.
00:11:56 Then why don't you?
00:12:04 Because I love my wife, and sleeping with you isn't worth jeopardizing my marriage.
00:12:09 Is it worth it to you to jeopardize yours?
00:12:13 I don't know.

01:01:28 (car honks)
01:01:33 - Ha ha, did I lose her?
01:01:39 - You're doing swell, just swell.
01:01:45 (tires screech)
01:01:48 - But she's still coming.
01:01:49 - Look, I didn't deliver,
01:01:59 so why don't you let me take you to dinner instead?
01:02:02 - All right, you got a date.
01:02:05 - Okay.
01:02:06 - Oh, look, I gotta go.
01:02:07 - Okay, listen, I'll give you a call.
01:02:08 - Yeah, call me.
01:02:10 (suspenseful music)
01:02:13 (car honks)
01:02:15 (suspenseful music)
01:02:18 - Excuse me?
01:02:28 (suspenseful music)
01:02:31 (car honks)
01:02:34 (suspenseful music)
01:02:37 (car honks)
01:02:47 (men shouting)
01:02:49 - Free country, but gasoline and equipment.
01:02:53 (suspenseful music)
01:02:56 (car honks)
01:02:58 (suspenseful music)
01:03:01 (car honks)

01:04:24 - Yeah, yeah, they stop here.
01:04:26 Stop down there too.
01:04:27 - Am I bothering you?
01:04:31 - Nah, you ain't bothering me.
01:04:34 - Good.
01:04:36 - But you're bothering me.
01:04:38 - She's bothering you, sonny?
01:04:39 - Yeah, that's right.
01:04:40 This bitch is bothering me.
01:04:42 - Well, what are you gonna do about it?
01:04:43 - I'm gonna break her fucking ass.
01:04:45 - Hey, why break it when we can fuck it first, huh?
01:04:48 Hey lady, where you going?
01:04:49 - Look, I don't wanna crack you guys.
01:04:51 - What are you doing down here

01:04:56 - Get out of here.
01:04:57 - Come on, man.

01:10:05 - I don't know what you're talking about.
01:10:31 - I don't know what you're talking about.
01:10:34 - I'm the kid for God's sake.
01:10:35 - Yeah, I'm the kid that saved your life.
01:10:40 - Yeah, I'm the kid that saved your life.
01:10:41 - Yeah, I'm the kid that saved your life.
01:10:42 - Yeah, I'm the kid that saved your life.
01:10:43 - Yeah, I'm the kid that saved your life.
01:10:44 - Yeah, I'm the kid that saved your life.
01:10:45 - Yeah, I'm the kid that saved your life.
01:10:46 - Yeah, I'm the kid that saved your life.
01:10:47 - Yeah, I'm the kid that saved your life.
01:10:48 - Yeah, I'm the kid that saved your life.
01:10:49 - Yeah, I'm the kid that saved your life.
01:10:50 - Yeah, I'm the kid that saved your life.
01:10:51 - Yeah, I'm the kid that saved your life.
01:10:52 - Yeah, I'm the kid that saved your life.
01:11:14 - Hey, you sure you're gonna be okay here?
01:11:15 - Fine.
01:11:16 - Well, here you go.
01:11:17 - Okay.
01:11:18 - Good night.
01:11:19 - Good night.
01:11:20 - Hey, Marina, look, I gotta talk to you.
01:11:21 - Mr. Out-of-Town turn up?
01:11:22 - No.
01:11:23 - Then you better send for your overnight bags.
01:11:24 - Hey, come on, you know I didn't kill that woman.
01:11:25 - You're still my best bet.
01:11:26 - For your information, she tried to kill me last night.
01:11:27 - Really?
01:11:28 - Yeah, I'm not gonna lie.
01:11:29 - You're not gonna lie?
01:11:30 - No.
01:11:31 - You're not gonna lie?
01:11:32 - No.
01:11:33 - You're not gonna lie?
01:11:34 - No.
01:11:35 - You're not gonna lie?
01:11:36 - No.
01:11:37 - You're not gonna lie?
01:11:38 - No.
01:11:39 - For your information, she tried to kill me last night.
01:11:42 - Really?
01:11:43 - Is that supposed to be concern in your voice?
01:11:46 - Hey, I take a professional interest in our citizens knocking each other off.
01:11:50 Where did this happen?
01:11:52 - She followed me from the Sheraton into the subway.
01:11:54 I thought I lost her there, but she was waiting for me when I got home.
01:11:57 She tried to slash me.
01:11:58 - Any witnesses to this one?
01:11:59 - Yes.
01:12:00 - Who?
01:12:01 - I can't tell you.
01:12:05 - Out-of-town again?
01:12:07 - No, I just promised I wouldn't say anything.
01:12:10 - You know, this has a familiar ring to it.
01:12:12 - Look, Marino, I'm not interested in your wise-ass remarks.
01:12:15 Someone's trying to kill me, and I need help.
01:12:17 - I'll help you.
01:12:18 I got a nice cell.
01:12:19 You'll be very safe in it.
01:12:20 Hey, Eddie.
01:12:21 - Hey, hey, wait a minute.
01:12:22 Look, I know the murderer's one of Elliot's patients.
01:12:25 - How do you know that?
01:12:26 - Because she came out of his office.
01:12:28 - Did you see her?
01:12:29 - Well, no, not exactly, but I know she came out.
01:12:34 You gotta get in there, get his appointment.
01:12:36 - But her name's gotta be in it.
01:12:38 - I hope you make a better hooker than you do a detective.
01:12:41 I thought about Elliot's appointment book a long time ago.
01:12:44 - So?
01:12:45 - So you can't just walk into some shrink's joint
01:12:47 and start going through his books.
01:12:49 You need a search warrant,
01:12:50 and judges take a long time before they let you
01:12:52 start snooping around some shrink's office.
01:12:55 Of course, that wouldn't prevent a paranoid murder suspect
01:13:01 from breaking in.
01:13:04 You know, searching for some evidence to defend her case.
01:13:08 - Oh, I get it.
01:13:09 You want me to break in for you.
01:13:11 - Hey, I don't want you to do anything illegal.
01:13:13 You can quote me on that.
01:13:15 But I'm booking you tomorrow.
01:13:17 You got it?
01:13:19 Tomorrow.
01:13:20 (siren blaring)
01:13:27 (siren blaring)
01:13:30 - I'm Dr. Levy.
01:13:43 - How do you do?
01:13:44 I'm Dr. Elliot.
01:13:46 - What can I do for you, Dr. Elliot?
01:13:51 - You're seeing a patient of mine.
01:13:53 - That's right.
01:13:55 I believe she's dangerous.
01:13:57 - Really?
01:13:58 In what way?
01:13:59 - She's causing me trouble
01:14:00 because I wouldn't approve her sex change operation.
01:14:03 - What kind of trouble has she caused you?
01:14:05 - She's threatened me several times over the phone.
01:14:08 She also stole my razor.
01:14:10 - Why would she do that?
01:14:12 - Doctor, did you read about the woman
01:14:13 that was slashed to death in an elevator?
01:14:16 - It was on the front page.
01:14:17 I can hardly miss--
01:14:18 - Kate Miller, the victim, was my patient.
01:14:21 - You don't think that Bobby had anything to do with that.
01:14:24 - Her razor's gone.
01:14:25 Kate Miller was killed with a razor.
01:14:28 - Nobody else could have taken it.
01:14:30 - Doctor, I am not paranoid.
01:14:32 Bobby has threatened me over the phone.
01:14:34 She said she was going to hurt me.
01:14:35 My patient was slashed to death and my razor's gone.
01:14:38 Now, you don't have to be a detective
01:14:40 to figure it out, do you?
01:14:42 - Come with me and we'll talk to the police.
01:14:46 - I've already been to the police.
01:14:48 But I didn't tell them about Bobby.
01:14:50 I wanted to talk to her first.
01:14:52 I wanted to be absolutely sure that it was her.
01:14:55 That she wouldn't return my calls.
01:14:57 I was hoping you'd be able to help.
01:15:00 - Yes, I'll help.
01:15:02 I'll talk to her.
01:15:04 If I agree with your diagnosis, we'll go to the police.
01:15:07 - Thank you.
01:15:09 Please let me know what happens.
01:15:11 - Do you know why Bobby came to see me in the first place?
01:15:14 - No.
01:15:15 - Why don't we go to my office
01:15:21 and we'll try to get in touch with her, hmm?
01:15:23 - Well, I'm late for an appointment now.
01:15:26 Why don't you call me at my office when you've reached her?
01:15:29 - All right.
01:15:31 You're sure you'll be at your office?
01:15:33 - Yes, I'm sure.
01:15:35 - I'll call you there.
01:15:37 - Peter Miller, I left some Super 8 film.
01:15:50 There's $4 there.
01:15:52 I timed Elliot's patients coming out of his office.
01:16:07 The fastest was 8 seconds,
01:16:09 so I set my camera to go off every 4 seconds
01:16:11 so I'd be sure to get a good shot of everybody.
01:16:15 [crickets chirping]
01:16:18 That's her.
01:16:29 - She must be his last appointment.
01:16:31 - We gotta get a look in that book.
01:16:34 - Yeah, I know.
01:16:35 Marino wants it too, only I can get it for him faster.
01:16:38 No legal red tape, just my ass.
01:16:41 - All right, look, I'll get it.
01:16:42 I mean, nobody cares about my ass, right?
01:16:43 I'm just a grief-struck kid.
01:16:45 - Yeah, but what a kid.
01:16:48 Okay, I got an idea.
01:16:53 It was very nice of you to see me.
01:16:58 It was nice of you to see me so soon.
01:17:05 - I try to keep my nights open for returning phone calls
01:17:08 or in case a patient needs some extra help.
01:17:12 I was worried about you.
01:17:15 You've had a terrible experience.
01:17:18 - I know.
01:17:21 I didn't realize it,
01:17:23 but I've been having these terrible nightmares.
01:17:27 - Oh.
01:17:30 What were they about?
01:17:33 - Well...
01:17:36 I have to get a cigarette.
01:17:41 I'm in this house that I've never been to before,
01:17:43 visiting a friend.
01:17:46 He's not there.
01:17:52 I'm watching TV,
01:17:55 and the doorbell rings.
01:17:58 It's a man.
01:18:01 He's big,
01:18:03 dark.
01:18:07 He says his car broke down, and he needs to use the phone.
01:18:11 I believe him and let him in.
01:18:15 Although I know something's wrong.
01:18:19 He closes the door,
01:18:24 locks it,
01:18:26 and takes out a razor.
01:18:28 He says he's not gonna hurt me.
01:18:36 Then he tells me
01:18:38 what he's gonna do to me
01:18:41 and how much I'm gonna like it.
01:18:45 All the time he's talking,
01:18:48 I can see the bulge in his pants.
01:18:53 He orders me to strip.
01:18:56 I do it,
01:18:59 keeping one eye on the razor.
01:19:01 He drops his pants,
01:19:06 and forces me down
01:19:08 on my stomach.
01:19:11 He spreads my legs,
01:19:13 kneels down behind me,
01:19:15 and wrists the cold blade.
01:19:33 I'm forcing it.
01:19:35 I'm sorry.
01:19:40 What's the matter?
01:19:43 It's just so dirty.
01:19:45 Why do you say that?
01:19:47 Look, I know what dirty is, and this is dirty.
01:19:51 Well, why don't you just talk about it?
01:19:58 I'm sure it's not as bad as you think.
01:20:01 It's very bad.
01:20:03 And you're talking to an expert on bad.
01:20:06 Oh, really?
01:20:08 Now, what makes you such an expert?
01:20:11 'Cause I'm a hooker.
01:20:13 Ah.
01:20:15 And I've done most of the bad things
01:20:18 you just read about.
01:20:20 Do you like doing these things?
01:20:22 Sometimes.
01:20:24 What do you like about it?
01:20:26 I like to turn men on.
01:20:30 I must do a pretty good job, because they pay me a lot.
01:20:34 Do you ever have any sex that's not paid for?
01:20:37 Is that a proposal?
01:20:41 No.
01:20:44 It's what we psychiatrists call a question.
01:20:47 Yes.
01:20:50 Yes, what?
01:20:52 Yes, I do.
01:20:54 For men that turn me on.
01:20:57 What sort of men turn you on?
01:20:59 Mature, doctorly type.
01:21:05 Like you.
01:21:07 Are you sexually attracted to me?
01:21:12 Yes. Are you?
01:21:15 Attracted to you? Mm-hmm.
01:21:17 Yes.
01:21:20 But then this isn't a social visit, is it?
01:21:25 I'm here for help, and my job is to offer you emotional assistance.
01:21:29 How about some sexual assistance?
01:21:32 Do you want to fuck me?
01:21:35 Oh, yes.
01:21:37 Well, why don't you?
01:21:39 Because I'm a doctor, and...
01:21:40 You've fucked a lot of doctors.
01:21:41 And I'm married.
01:21:42 You've fucked a lot of them, too.
01:21:43 Don't you think we're getting off the point?
01:21:46 Do you mind if I take off my coat?
01:21:49 No.
01:21:53 And the rest, too?
01:21:55 Now, why would you want to do a thing like that?
01:22:00 Well, because of the size of that cock in your pants.
01:22:05 I don't think you're so married.
01:22:10 Well, what do you think?
01:22:13 I think you're a good man.
01:22:20 I think you're a good man.
01:22:22 I think you're a good man.
01:22:24 I think you're a good man.
01:22:26 I think you're a good man.
01:22:28 I think you're a good man.
01:22:30 I think you're a good man.
01:22:32 I think you're a good man.
01:22:34 I think you're a good man.
01:22:36 I think you're a good man.
01:22:38 I think you're a very attractive woman.
01:22:41 Would you like to touch me?
01:22:46 Uh...
01:22:49 Yes and no.
01:22:50 Yes, because I'm...
01:22:51 Well, why don't you?
01:22:53 I told you why.
01:22:55 Oh, that's right.
01:22:59 You're a married doctor.
01:23:00 I remember now.
01:23:02 I think you're full of shit.
01:23:04 You do.
01:23:06 Just because I happen to have personal and professional ethics.
01:23:10 Look, Doc, I think you're kind of shy.
01:23:15 So, uh...
01:23:17 I'm gonna go powder my nose.
01:23:20 And when I come back,
01:23:22 I hope to find your clothes right next to mine.
01:23:26 And if not, we can just get back to the mind fuck.

01:31:04 - How do you do that?
01:31:06 - Well, if you're a man that wants to become a woman,
01:31:09 you take female hormones.
01:31:11 - What do they do?
01:31:12 - Well, your skin softens, you grow breasts,
01:31:16 and you don't get hard anymore.
01:31:18 - Great.
01:31:23 - Sure you wanna know about this?
01:31:26 - Yeah, yeah, it's giving me some
01:31:29 wonderful new ideas for a science project.
01:31:31 I mean, instead of building a computer,
01:31:33 I could build a woman.
01:31:34 Out of me.
01:31:36 - Great idea.
01:31:37 In that case, I'll give you all the details.
01:31:40 The next step is surgery.
01:31:42 A, let me see if I can remember the exact word
01:31:44 that Levy told me.
01:31:46 Oh yeah, a penectomy.
01:31:48 - Hmm, what's that?
01:31:50 - Oh, you know, they take your penis
01:31:53 and slice it down the middle.
01:31:56 - Yeah, yeah, that's what I thought it was.
01:31:59 - Then, um, castration.
01:32:03 Plastic reconstruction and the formation
01:32:07 of an artificial vagina.
01:32:10 A vaginoplasty to those in the know.
01:32:13 - I thought Ellie just put on a dress.
01:32:18 - Oh, he did, and a wig too.
01:32:20 But you see, that's no good in bed
01:32:21 when you gotta take everything off.
01:32:23 - What's gonna happen to him now?
01:32:26 - Well, first he has to recover from the gun wound,
01:32:28 and then if he's ever sane enough
01:32:30 to get out of Bellevue, they'll try him.
01:32:32 And guess who's the star witness?
01:32:36 - You.
01:32:37 - Right, something I'm really looking forward to.
01:32:40 - Well, I think I'm gonna stick to my computer.
01:32:46 - That sounds like a very good idea.
01:32:51 - Look, Liz, um, I gotta get home and get to work.
01:32:55 - Gee, I'm gonna miss having you on my tail.
01:32:59 Made me feel kind of safe.
01:33:02 - Look, you wanna come home with me?
01:33:05 I love the company.
01:33:07 - Wouldn't Mike mind?
01:33:10 - Well, uh, Mike's out of town on a business trip.
01:33:15 - Oh, I see.
01:33:17 - Well, uh, Mike's out of town on a business trip.
01:33:20 We got plenty of room.
01:33:23 - Great, I could sure use the vacation.
01:33:26 - Good, good, I'll get the check.
