00:00 The wait is almost over. This Sunday the biggest stars in cinema will descend onto Hollywood for the 96th annual Academy Awards.
00:09 But who will be taking home those coveted trophies? Here to give us her predictions is Rotten Tomatoes Awards editor Jacqueline Coley, everybody.
00:18 Hello, hello, hello. Let's get right into it. I want to talk best actors. There's Annette, Lily, Sandra, Carrie, Emma. Who's winning the Oscar?
00:27 Listen, it's got to be Emma Stone. I will say this. My heart is telling me Lily Gladstone, but my mind is telling me Emma Stone.
00:34 And so I've got to go with Emma Stone. What she did in Poor Things was just transformative.
00:38 She went from a child to an adult and goes through every facet that you can see through that.
00:44 And she shows a lot. So for nothing else, I think she deserves the best actress.
00:48 She really does. But I'm telling you guys right now, Lily Gladstone is giving her a run for her money.
00:53 It's not going to be an easy win for her. It isn't. And I will say Lily won the SAG, but Emma won the BAFTA.
00:58 And I just feel like I'm thinking of Chadwick Boseman. And that's where my heart was, the same place it is with Lily.
01:03 And I just I know a little bit better. I can't have my heart broken again. I hope it does, but I can't do it.
01:08 Oh, I love that. All right. Well, moving on to best actor, who has the best shot of taking that Oscar home?
01:14 It's the blue eyed boy, Mr. Killian Murphy. I mean, he's really just kind of swept it up this year with Oppenheimer.
01:20 I would say after all of the sort of predicted wins, we think for Oppenheimer, how big it was at the box office to not give it to him.
01:26 That would just be mean. Right. It would be so rude. Give it to RDJ, give it to the costumers, give it to the cinematographers, but not to him.
01:34 OK, but I just saw American Fiction. Yeah. Come on. Jeffrey Wright just won the Independence Sphere Awards.
01:40 I will say if there's anybody who I think could maybe give him a run for his money, it's him or maybe Paul Giamatti, who won the Critics' Choice.
01:47 Hmm. OK, I love that. All right. The lead acting categories might be a little bit up in the air,
01:52 but two stars have really been dominating for supporting actor and actress. Tell me about that.
01:58 Yeah. Divine Joy Randolph and Robert Downey Jr. RDJ, they have swept every precursor prize.
02:04 Like at this point, if they didn't win, we would have to just change the entire book of Oscars because they swept everything up to this point.
02:11 And I think they're really deserving for both of their roles in Oppenheimer and the holdovers respectively.
02:15 And we love an RDJ award show moment. I do. I do. I love it. I think he's going to get emotional. Oh, really?
02:23 Yeah. I mean, they're titans. Is there anyone else that you think could possibly pull off a big upset?
02:31 I mean, I would love it if his Avengers co-star, Mr. Mark Ruffalo, did it. I mean, he was peacocking all the way through Poor Things.
02:37 That would be such a great win for him. And maybe Daniel Brooks for The Color Purple.
02:41 I think what she did in that film being the only nomination, clearly Academy voters said this is one we want to reward.
02:47 But I'm sorry, nobody's taking it from these two. I know. And I wish they would have gave her more of a push.
02:52 But this girl has so much time under her belt. Like she's just starting. Yeah. She's in New Zealand making movies.
02:58 Yeah. Now let's move on to the biggest award. And when I mean biggest, I mean biggest because there are 10 incredible contenders.
03:07 But only one can win for Best Picture. Who do you have? I have my prediction.
03:12 I'm going to go ahead and say it's Oppenheimer again. This is Christopher Nolan's sort of like opus.
03:17 It made almost a billion dollars about a bomb. Like that is such a hard thing for it to also be such a critical and commercial success.
03:24 The Academy loves it. And again, swept every single precursor prize from Critics' Choice to the SAG Awards.
03:31 That was great. But what about Barbie? I know. Such a cultural phenomenon. Does that not count for anything with the voters?
03:38 Not for Best Picture, but for Best Song. I mean, look, Barbie was this incredible moment and I would love for it to be the upset.
03:46 If I was going to say there's going to be an upset, Barbie would probably be it.
03:49 Remember, they do this ranked choice voting at the Academy. Stranger things have happened.
03:54 But I think Barbie won enough. They did. Like 1.46 billion dollars. They changed the conversation.
04:01 We've gotten words added to the dictionary. It's you know, she's good.
04:06 Any other things we should look out for? I mean, I already said something about Best Song.
04:10 Right now, it's really up in the air between I'm Just Ken and What Was I Made For?
04:15 Either one of those, I think, could possibly go for Best Song.
04:18 And honestly, I'm really just excited to see what Jimmy does because, you know, he's got the jokes, you know.
04:24 He's always doing it. Well, I think it's big. And we're hearing that, speaking of song, that Ryan Gosling is planning something massive.
04:31 Like 75 shirtless men and 10s. Jacqueline, can it be my birthday?
04:35 Let me tell you, I was at the Academy as they were prepping for it, doing the rehearsal.
04:40 This is going to be one of the biggest Oscar moments you've ever seen.
04:43 This performance, I'm Just Ken. Dancers, singers, him belting it on this stage. Tune in, y'all.
04:48 I'm really excited. I'm excited for Billy, too. I really do love that song.
04:52 I think it's a very special song. So either way, it's going to be a good time.
04:56 And, you know, we love you when you're here. Thank you for having me.
04:59 And like Jacqueline said, tune in because E!'s red carpet coverage kicks off this Sunday at 4 p.m. Eastern.
