00:14County District Attorney's Office alleged in court documents on Tuesday that investigators

00:18discovered two notes hidden in the cardboard packaging of a new pair of Argyle socks,

00:22with one which read, quote, Luigi, we are rooting for you. Keep your head held high

00:26and know there are thousands of people wishing you luck. The University of Pennsylvania

00:31graduates' attorneys responded to the filing on Wednesday in a letter which included images

00:35of the notes, as they claimed that, quote, defense inadvertently did not see there were

00:39two heart-shaped notes contained within the socks, adding that one wasn't meant for the

00:4226-year-old. The second note is addressed to someone named Joan. While NBC News notes that

00:48the spokesperson for the defense is named Joan, it remains unclear if that is who the

00:51note is for. It is also not clear whether the 26-year-old received the notes. Prosecutors

00:57also alleged in their filings that Mangione was still permitted to wear the socks, though

01:01claimed he changed out of them because he felt that, quote, they did not look good.

01:04They also argued that most incarcerated defendants, quote, must wear jail-issued clothing

01:09during calendar appearances, as they alleged he had, quote, special treatment. However,

01:14Mangione's lawyers responded, claiming that wearing normal clothing for court appearances

01:18is, quote, not special treatment, arguing that many incarcerated defendants are allowed to do so.

01:24Mangione is pled not guilty to the charges.
