00:14Per Reuters, authorities confirmed that all reported casualties in the crash were foreign
00:19nationals, with Russia's embassy in Cairo telling NBC News that four of the people killed
00:24were Russians.
00:25Exactly how the crash occurred has not yet been determined, but the incident happened
00:29around 10 a.m. local time.
00:31Forty-five tourists total, including minors, were aboard the submarine, per the statement.
00:36The statement added, most of those on board were rescued and taken to their hotels and
00:40hospitals in Hurghada.
00:41Their health condition is not a concern.
00:43However, municipal officials told the Associated Press that at least nine people had been injured.
00:48According to its website, Sinbad Submarines is a popular tourism agency based in Egypt
00:54and offers recreational tours 25 meters below the sea surface for $70 per person.
01:00The brand owns two of just 14 recreational submersibles in the world and offers a diving
01:05experience following the trip.
01:07The crash comes just months after a tourist yacht sank around the same area of the Red
01:11Sea due to rough waters.
01:13Four people drowned in the incident, but 33 were rescued.
01:17And in 2023, OceanGate, another company that owns submersibles for tourism and research,
01:22had a devastating headline-making implosion amid an expedition to the Titanic crash site.
01:27The 22-foot submersible, named the Titan, carried five men, including OceanGate founder
01:32Stockton Rush, before its deadly demise.
