00:00 stories here? No, it's tough, it's tough but it's good. Well good.
00:04 Yeah. Well thanks, Brandon. Yes, sir.
00:07 So, obviously, you know, coming here in January, how's your relationship been with Seth Luttrell,
00:12 some of the other guys in that offensive staff? Yeah, it's been good.
00:15 Spent definitely a lot of time with them in meetings and everything, because you know, just getting here
00:19 you gotta learn everything. So I spent a lot of time with Coach Luttrell, you know, Jack Lowry,
00:24 Ty Hatcher, all those guys. Just a lot of meeting time, getting to know everything.
00:29 Had you ever been to Oklahoma before the Sooners started recruiting you?
00:32 And if not, kind of, now that you live here, what's your impression?
00:35 Yeah, I had not been here until I came on my visit. It's a cool place.
00:39 You know, the campus is super nice, the university is really nice.
00:42 The weather has been different for me, for sure. You know, it was snowing, then it was 80 degrees,
00:47 you know, I hear there's tornadoes coming, so, yeah.
00:51 Yeah, be ready for May.
00:53 We talked on the phone and you told me that your dad played quarterback at Michigan.
00:57 Has he given you any advice for this moment, you know, kind of stepping into a big-time college program?
01:01 Yeah, he definitely said just, you know, just stay confident, because things are going to be good
01:06 and things are going to be bad. And when the times get bad, you know, you gotta stay confident in yourself.
01:10 You just gotta keep pushing, keep going.
01:12 Have you been able to develop a relationship with the receivers that have come in with you?
01:16 Yeah, some of them, definitely. We've thrown a little bit, most of it's just routes on air and stuff,
01:22 but as spring ball gets going, we're going to do a lot of seven-on-seven, you know, team passing stuff, so that'll come.
01:28 You looking forward to that?
01:29 Yeah, absolutely. I'm excited to get going.
01:31 So, Brent Bennebose is your head coach now. How has it been different from him, you know,
01:36 kind of recruiting you to now that he's your head coach?
01:38 Well, everything he said recruiting me, he stays true. You know, he's going to coach us hard.
01:43 He's a really good fit for this program, I think. He's going to help us be, you know, the tough team that we want to be,
01:48 the physical team that we want to be, and he's going to help us win.
01:51 You excited to play in the SEC?
01:52 Yeah, it's awesome. Best conference college football.
01:54 Do you have any matchups circled on the schedule this year?
01:57 I do not. I'm just excited for the whole season.
02:01 What about Michael Hawkins? Obviously, you guys came into this class together. How's y'all's relationship?
02:05 It's good, you know. We build a relationship, just as well as the other quarterbacks and the, you know, offensive coaches.
02:10 I spend a lot of time with him. So, we build a relationship, you know. We compete with each other, but it's a friendly competition.
02:16 Who's your roommate?
02:17 Xavier Robinson.
02:19 And how is that aspect? You know, obviously, he's someone who's from Oklahoma City area, but you're from hundreds of miles away, maybe thousands.
02:26 What's that like?
02:27 It's good, you know. If I have any questions about the area or if we need to go somewhere, you know, he'll help me out.
02:32 He's familiar with this area, so that's cool.
02:34 And, you know, obviously, he's another freshman running back in this class.
02:37 Have you gotten to build a relationship with him in the weight room, on the field, anything like that?
02:41 Yeah, we're in the same lift group, same run groups. You know, I spend a lot of time with him.
02:44 And with him being a running back, you know, we both have to, you know, know all the calls and everything. So, we share a relationship with that.
02:50 You mentioned the lifting and running. Obviously, that's handled by Coach Schmidty. How's that been?
02:55 It's been good, you know. It's tough, but it's good. You know, I've already seen major improvements with everything.
