00:00 So just coming in, first impressions, winter, what's that been like for you?
00:06 Oh, it's been pretty good so far. You know, obviously we've only been doing workouts and that's like, you know, Smithies are a different breed.
00:15 So how long did it take you to, like, everyone's heard the stories around here. How long did it take you to have your first day of like, oh, this is, this is real real?
00:23 Probably like third lift. I come in doing lunges wrong, instantly on a stair master. It was, it was pretty, it was pretty fast.
00:33 I learned after that you can't, you can't mess up around him. He wants perfection and you gotta give it to him.
00:38 As you've kind of made that adjustment, who have been some of the guys like, offensive lineman's kind of weird, you got some veterans, but a lot of young guys on transfers.
00:45 Who's kind of helped you along, kind of get acclimated?
00:47 I say Spencer Brown, he's a transfer, you know, you know, he's been around college atmosphere for a while and he's helped me out.
00:54 Fibetchi too. And even like the guys that were here last year, all the guys that were here last year, they helped me get adjusted and, you know, helped me out and find my way and do things the right way.
01:05 As you kind of transition through, obviously around here, you're super familiar.
01:10 What's been your biggest impression of Seth Luttrell, Bill Biedenbo, all those guys you get to meet, work with on a day to day basis, truly?
01:18 Oh, they're really, they're really about the business, you know, like they want, they want everything done perfectly.
01:25 And if you're not doing it perfect, then they don't make sure you do.
01:29 And it's really helpful and it helps you grow as a, as a man, you know, to do things the right way.
01:34 And, you know, really look for your best in yourself.
01:38 As you've kind of gone through, what's that support group for you?
01:41 Like not just the players, but obviously not like you're having to be super far away from family, stuff like that.
01:49 How's that all been?
01:50 Oh, to me, like it hasn't really been much of a difference.
01:54 Yeah. You know, I'm pretty close.
01:56 Yeah. I see my mom all the time.
01:58 So the people that, you know, kind of help out with it, they're, they're really nice.
02:03 You know, they check on you every, you know, every couple of days, maybe a couple of hours if you need it.
02:08 But I really, I really appreciate them for doing something.
02:13 Have you been to that point yet of like, okay, I'm good. I promise.
02:16 It's one of those things.
02:17 Yeah. My mom, she, she was checking on me every day.
02:22 I was like, okay, come on. I'm only like 40 minutes away from you.
02:25 One of those things. So what's the energy like?
02:27 I know it's just lifts, mat drills, stuff like that, mental walk-throughs.
02:30 But for the offensive liner, knowing there's so many of those spots that competition, it's not like you've got five entrenched starters.
02:37 What's that process been like? You guys have got together and rolled through the winter.
02:41 Oh, you know, everyone's competing.
02:43 Everyone's trying to make their way onto the field, you know, trying to prove themselves.
02:48 So, but everyone's, it's not like you're ripping each other apart trying to get there.
02:53 You're building up together trying to find the best five as a team and not trying to be one by one trying to, you know, how do I explain this?
03:05 Everyone's trying to get on the field together, not rip each other apart to make their way on there.
03:10 You get what I'm saying?
03:11 Yeah. Yeah. Is that easier knowing that you've got, what is it, four freshmen, four transfers?
03:15 So it's like all you guys are learning the program together while, you know.
03:19 It takes a lot of pressure off, you know, you're not competing against like a thousand veterans.
03:24 There's no chance. Now it's like everyone's learning everything together.
03:28 So it makes everything a lot, a lot less stressful.
03:34 You mentioned that she and Spencer's, what stood out about them as far as being able to help you being through,
03:40 come from two different situations, obviously, but being through all those battles that they have through their career.
03:45 They're like brothers to me, you know, they tell me all their other experiences and how things have gone for them in college.
03:52 And it really shows me how I should do things.
03:57 You know, they don't even like they talk to me about football, but they talk to me about life at the same time.
04:04 So that's talking about their experience about life, too.
04:07 So I'm learning things from them that I should do this or I should do this, you know, learn everything I should and shouldn't be doing.
04:13 What's that relationship with Coach Beanboe been like as far as like it?
04:18 Sometimes you hear there's the, you know, Coach X, the recruiter versus you get in the room.
04:23 Seems like they'll be in both the same dude all the way through.
04:26 He's the same guy. He'll talk to you. He'll tell you how it is.
04:29 He's not going to lie. He's not going to lie to you.
04:31 Like sugarcoat things, he'll tell you how it is. That's how it's always been.
04:35 I appreciate that. It really creates character.
04:40 You know, you're not soft around him. You got to be you got to be who you really are.
04:45 You want to come and compete every day, but do you have a mental?
04:48 What like what are the things you're hoping to accomplish this spring as that gets rolling here?
04:52 Like Monday, this spring?
04:55 I'm someone I want to practice good. I want to practice hard, you know, get some get some film down, you know, see what I can improve on so far.
05:03 Coming in early is not, you know, there's a little bit more time, but it's still you still don't get that much time.
05:09 So I'm just trying to make sure I see my first impression myself, you know, get some get some film down, see what I can improve on and take it into the summer and into the fall.
