00:00 >> He's gonna be great.
00:01 I mean, you've seen him before when he was there, went to the Super Bowl.
00:05 He's always told us that was his dream, go back to the Super Bowl,
00:07 win the Super Bowl.
00:08 So I'm excited to see what he does.
00:10 He's got a great squad over there, so probably a good coach to have with him.
00:14 So I can't wait to see what he does.
00:17 I would say what's good for the B is good for the Hive.
00:20 So he kept saying that this year, cuz we rotate a lot of defense,
00:24 offense, there's a lot of weapons.
00:26 So he would just tell everybody that what's good for the B is good for
00:28 the Hive.
00:29 And then I think we live by that.
00:31 So that's something that I love that he said.
00:35 Yeah, I mean, Coach Nintz, man, I mean, from day one when he got there,
00:39 he was transparent with everybody.
00:40 That's a big thing in college football.
00:43 You don't really get transparency all the time with the coaches.
00:47 But he was definitely, he came in, he told us how it was.
00:50 We keep it real with all of us in the whole defense meeting rooms.
00:54 So I think that was a big thing, just for trust.
00:56 And then once he got the trust from all of us right away,
00:59 I think we all went out there to play for him.
01:01 And I think guys in the league are gonna do the exact same thing.
01:04 So I'm excited for him.
01:06 >> Yeah, Coach Mack, I mean, he brought the energy.
01:09 He was a coach that came in and brought a whole different swagger than we had
01:14 before.
01:14 Coach Brown, he ran a little bit of a different, more of a college style
01:18 defense, and then Coach McDonald came in and brought an NFL style.
01:22 So I think Coach McDonald, I mean, he just prepares us.
01:26 He prepared us in the best way possible, like to play games.
01:29 So I think seeing him as a head coach now, I'm so excited for him.
01:33 >> What do you think of the performance?
01:35 >> I'll say my performance in the Rose Bowl.
01:38 I mean, that's just such a historic game for Michigan.
01:42 And then being able to go there and Coach Herb, our strength coach,
01:46 was telling us the night before the game that he had two sacks in the game.
01:49 So being able to go out there and have two, he said I could have beat his record,
01:54 but I was right there with him.
01:55 So that was probably my favorite moment.
01:57 I think number one thing to expect from Coach Herb is just the intensity and
02:00 the same guy every single day.
02:02 That was his big thing just the whole time he was there is,
02:06 you never knew what was going on in his life.
02:08 And that's the way he kept it.
02:09 He was so professional.
02:09 He came in, would give you his all from the hours he was there.
02:13 So I think just guys that are being able to have the chance to be coached by him,
02:17 expect the coach is gonna coach you hard.
02:19 He really focuses on the little muscles, which was a big deal for us because
02:23 it kept me from not getting injured, not getting hurt, not missing time.
02:27 So I think that would be a big thing for
02:28 guys in the league, be able to stay on the field and give it.
02:32 I mean, I think they did a great job of hiring Coach Moore.
02:34 I think that was the number one thing is make sure we get the right guy.
02:36 I mean, that whole locker room, everybody loves Coach Moore.
02:39 So now that they got him, I think it's just up from here.
02:43 I mean, they have all the tools on defense.
02:45 The offense is reloading.
02:47 A lot of young guys that have been itching to get their chance.
02:49 So I think this year, I think we're still on the up and coming.
02:52 I mean, given that top of the college football last year,
02:56 I think they still have a good opportunity this year too.
02:59 I've talked to a couple guys that are still there that were younger.
03:02 They spoke really highly of him as well.
03:03 They're just excited.
03:07 I think all these guys that came back or have an opportunity now with 18 of us,
03:12 19, 20 of us leaving right now, they're just excited.
03:15 So I think keeping that kind of same scheme is a big deal.
03:18 Cuz when I was there, I had three different DCs.
03:21 So it was a little difficult.
03:22 You feel like you start getting in a groove, then a new one comes in.
03:24 Then you try to keep it somewhat the same.
03:27 So I think for my sophomore to junior year, when we went from Coach McDonald to
03:29 Coach Minter, I think that was the best year.
03:31 Just cuz you get in the offseason, you kinda know what to expect,
03:34 know your playbook.
03:35 So I think that's just something big.
03:37 >> It feels like Schoenbecker Hall around here.
03:39 Everywhere I look, I mean, to my right, I got Jaylin.
03:41 I mean, I see Blake all the time.
03:43 I think the old line gets in today.
03:44 So AJ, I mean, you see everybody that was down training.
03:48 You haven't seen him for, what, four or five weeks.
03:50 And then you get to see him again.
03:51 So it's awesome.
03:53 And everybody keeps saying, hey, you guys roll deep.
03:55 So that's Coach Herb saying.
03:56 So it's pretty cool.
03:58 Yeah, I mean, the numbers don't lie.
04:00 You can go out there and you can look at how many snaps we play.
04:02 I mean, they've been playing to a fourth quarter until, what, Penn State?
04:07 So I mean, that's something the teams know.
04:11 They know all the answers.
04:12 They'll just ask you to see the way you feel about it.
04:15 So just being transparent, telling them, yeah,
04:17 I could have went somewhere and had 10 sacks and got all the accolades you wanted.
04:21 But at the end of the day, I did what was best for the team.
04:24 It was part of our rotation.
04:25 And that showed at the end of the Bama game when we rotated D-line so much.
04:28 And then you go in there and you have both the edge guys be able to collapse,
04:32 both the tackles, and make the play with their bodies.
04:33 So I mean, at the end of the day, it doesn't matter where you get drafted,
04:37 what round, it just matters how you stay.
04:39 So that's a big thing for me.
04:40 Yeah, I mean, I know Coach Herb, when a lot of guys left,
04:43 they were pretty sad, pretty upset.
04:47 But I think Coach Trask, bringing him to that spot, just a familiar face,
04:51 a guy that you trust, a guy that's been around and knows what Coach Herb did.
04:55 Not that he's gonna mimic him and try to be like Coach Herb, but
04:57 bring his own twist to it.
04:59 I'm just excited to see what he'll do for it.
05:01 I mean, I guess Coach Trask's a great dude, so I'm excited for him.
05:05 I'm excited to see what he does.
05:06 I would say he doesn't care who you are.
05:08 He's gonna push you as hard as he can, as hard as he can go.
05:11 I know he didn't care that you were gonna be a starter or whatever.
05:14 He was like, you know, the offseason, I was a freshman.
05:19 He makes sure every little detail's right.
05:21 So that's just a big thing with Coach Herb is details.
05:24 So being able to have another guy that can focus on details and
05:26 be the type of guy that he is, I mean, it's gonna be exciting to see what he does.
