00:00 We will do everything each day as a team to continue the legacy of championship football
00:07 that has been played here at the University of Michigan over the past 144 years.
00:12 I prepared my entire coaching career for this moment, for this opportunity, and I can't
00:17 think of a better place to do it than the University of Michigan.
00:21 The city of Ann Arbor, the state of Michigan's home.
00:24 We love this place.
00:27 This is our home, this is where my daughters were born.
00:30 Again, I want to acknowledge my wife Kelly, thank you for your support.
00:35 Continuous support every day.
00:36 My beautiful daughter Shiloh, thank you for the socks baby, they're beautiful.
00:43 Soleil who's back there, probably causing havoc.
00:47 Hi baby.
00:49 My family back home, my mom, my other mom is here, Leslie Lenz, you continue to support
00:58 me throughout this process.
01:01 Driving the cowboy on a Tuesday night when I was in Central Michigan to every game here,
01:09 thank you so much.
01:10 My agents there, Sandra Evans, you guys have been so phenomenal through this journey, helping
01:16 me, pushing me, molding me, and I can't thank you enough.
01:19 My mentors, talked about Coach Harbaugh, if you're watching this, Coach, love you, got
01:27 your back, continue this the right way.
01:30 My high school coach, Coach Tom Young, molded me, really shaped me.
01:35 I loved the game of football, even though I was a basketball player, I thought I was
01:39 going to be Charles Barkley.
01:40 I made a rebound for the NBA, figured out that 6'4" center kind of thing.
01:46 My junior college coach, Troy Morrill, really asserted that love for other players, seeing
01:53 that with a coach.
01:54 Going to Oklahoma, Coach Stoops, I talked to him, still to this day.
02:00 Everything he's done for me and the coaches that really asserted my journey as a coach
02:04 here.
02:05 Charlie Strong at Louisville, my true mentors in teaching me football, Sean Ross and Dave
02:12 Borberle, and all the coaches that I've worked with.
02:15 All the coaches here, all the staff here, and I can't thank you, I can name every one
02:18 of you, but you guys have helped me, shaped me, mold me, and more important, the players.
02:25 Love you guys like you guys are my two kids.
02:28 Thank you so much.
02:29 I promise I won't get emotional again.
02:34 We represent the best university in the world.
02:37 Every single day, our program will be in pursuit to see how as a team, on and off the field,
02:42 we can strive to be the best organization in football.
02:46 Really I told this to the team this morning, we're going to operate this thing from now
02:50 on in three phases.
02:52 The process, the pursuit, the standard.
02:55 We've already started the process.
02:58 We continue to talk about the process over the prize, process over the prize, and the
03:02 prize we got.
03:03 But we're hungry for more.
03:04 Now we're in the pursuit, the pursuit of greatness.
03:09 And to do that, you've got to push, you've got to strain, you've got to do that every
03:11 single day on and off the field to be great.
03:14 And that'll take you to the standard.
03:17 And once we continue to win on and off the field, we'll become the standard.
03:20 And that's the goal here at the University of Michigan in the next few months.
03:25 We're not satisfied with victories of the past, but we're hungry for future success.
03:30 We want to attack every day as we walk into the building as it's the Monday of the national
03:34 title game.
03:37 All hands on deck.
03:39 We want to make sure that we're in the best position that we can compete on and off the
03:42 field.
03:43 We will work extremely hard every day to represent this university, this program, this city,
03:49 this state, and attack every day as hard as we can.
03:54 Our eyes will remain on the future to continue to attack the present moment.
04:02 It will always, always be about the players.
04:06 We will do everything in this program to put the players in position to win on and off
04:09 the field.
04:11 I'm excited to start in this new role with our players and coaching staff.
04:16 Our standards will not change.
04:17 We will be smart, tough, dependable, relentless, enthusiastic, and do that at a championship
04:26 level with a championship team that loves football, plays with a passion for the game,
04:32 plays for each other, plays for that Wink helmet.
04:35 We will also continue to achieve excellent off the field, in the classroom, and in the
04:39 community.
04:40 And lastly, from the words of the great Jack Harbaugh, we will continue to attack every
04:48 day with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind.
04:53 And I promise you, we will smash.
04:55 Thank you very much.
