00:00 Conor Callum, a 3-1 win against the Baffin side pushing for the playoffs and a really impressive performance as well. So you must be delighted.
00:08 Yeah, absolutely. I mean, we said Tuesday night about the reaction from Saturday and then the challenge today was, do it again.
00:16 One of the things we said was good sides do it, one game in, 11 average performance the next game.
00:23 Sorry, average sides do that, good sides do it relentlessly, game after game, half after half.
00:30 And today, we were ridiculous today. The amount of energy that we had, considering the shift we put in Tuesday night,
00:40 to be able to do that on a Saturday and basically just put in the exact same performance is a big credit to the boys.
00:49 And the quality of the football today was really good as well, wasn't it?
00:53 It was our best performance probably since we've been here, I'll be honest. For 90 minutes, we were at it against a quality opposition as well,
01:00 in terms of the league table. I thought we were the much better side, I thought we dominated the whole game, I thought we were unlucky to concede.
01:07 And obviously it's a bit nerve-wracking when it does go 2-1, you're thinking, why mistake or anything like that?
01:11 The game's then turned on its head, so it was good to get that third one. I think we deserved it.
01:17 But like I say, as I've said before as well, we were just at it for 90 minutes.
01:23 It was nearly a similar performance to Tuesday, I thought we were even better than Tuesday, which took some doing.
01:27 Against two sides who are potentially playing in the playoffs this season and potentially could be going up a division.
01:35 We more than matched both those sides and we deserved six points this week.
01:39 As you said, obviously you wanted to back up Tuesday and you were right at it from the start and obviously got yourselves 2-0 up nice and early inside 20 minutes as well.
01:46 Yes, I think the important thing to do is when you're playing against teams that you know are good and do have quality,
01:52 is to put maximum pressure on all the time because it allows you to shock them from the start of the game and let them know what they're in for.
02:04 A few teams have done it against us this year and it can really feel like you're entering a bit of a washing machine, to be honest.
02:11 You don't know where to look and I felt that that's what the performance was, especially in the early parts of the game.
02:17 The one thing we had today was real good composure in front of goal and a real killer instinct to take the chances when we had them.
02:27 I think one criticism that we could have all year of us is we are on top in vast spells in games,
02:36 but we don't really take the opportunity and seize the moment and score in those moments.
02:41 But today, we obviously did that.
02:44 The first goal was a great bit of play from Kieran down the right and then Tommy obviously finishes it off in the middle.
02:50 Yes, we talked about the areas on Tuesday as well, but the areas we want to try and attack.
02:54 It's no shock that probably all three goals came from those areas today and then areas between the sideline and the box.
03:01 We looked at getting those areas as much as possible and then from there it's up to the players to deliver the quality.
03:05 Most of our goals come from those areas. If you've watched us, that's exactly what we see.
03:12 But it's very hard to stop if you get in there and a lot of chances we created.
03:18 Like Connor said, we've dominated a lot of games this season, all games, spells in games, but we haven't jumped on that and made the advantage count.
03:26 I thought today it gives you a lot more of a breathing space within the game.
03:29 You could see the confidence in the lads. The lads were really confident, wanting the ball, playing.
03:33 I think on the surface, if we're being honest, with Porridge on Tuesday, I don't know what it's like today, but the football we played on that was exceptional.
03:41 It showed our dominance and I thought we could have potentially had a couple more.
03:45 I thought they'd call in a few good saves. Ellis was kept very quiet second half, which is really pleasing.
03:51 So, yes, credit to the boys. There's no secret though. You work hard and you apply yourselves and the results will potentially keep picking up.
03:58 Tommy got his two goals, but he also got the assist as well, didn't he? For Matty, a good bit of play there as well.
04:04 Yes, I mean, the challenge you set out for Tommy is the same as everyone else.
04:11 You're a good footballer, but being a good footballer, to be honest, doesn't really mean much.
04:16 You have to have a certain work rate and a certain level of desire and energy to do everything else that's a little bit ugly for the team.
04:27 And the last two games in particular, he's been right at the top of that.
04:33 And the amount of running and speed he's doing at the moment is probably shocking himself, to be honest.
04:40 But there's no secret that you put that amount of work in and you're going to get something out of it.
04:51 And I mentioned to Matty Doogan as well, I thought he was absolutely outrageous. I thought what a game he had.
04:56 And again, he just did everything that we expected of what our tenants need to be.
05:00 And tuning up, and then obviously you conceded just before half-time from the corner, but you didn't let that affect you at all.
05:06 So, you still stayed strong in that second half.
05:08 Yes, we said to the boys at half-time, we said, 'That goal, you've got to forget about it.
05:12 We've got to go out there and deliver the same performance, the same dominance.'
05:15 And we did, I think in a different way as well. I think we had a lot more of the ball first half and dominated with the ball.
05:20 I thought we controlled them a lot without the ball.
05:22 We stopped the quality of their direct play, which we know that's not like to do.
05:26 So, we tried to stop it at source, get pressure on it at all times.
05:29 On that pitch, it's difficult to get the ball set.
05:32 So, as much as we get pressure on the ball, we know the quality is going to be less.
05:36 And they struggled to get any quality in the box because of how quickly we were getting out to them and how much pressure we were getting on it.
05:41 So, that was one of the big points of our game plan and it worked.
05:45 As well as the good football you played, obviously Baffin's posed quite a physical test, but you stood up to that well.
05:51 Yeah, definitely. To be honest, they've got 11 players that you would consider to be beasts really.
05:58 All of them are really dominant in the air.
06:01 And to be honest, they're a very good second ball side.
06:04 They look to get off the flicks and Cal say a direct side, which is tough to play against.
06:10 It really is tough to play against.
06:12 But the boys have got to realise that they have that level of aggression and that level of intensity and desire to be able to actually go and nick balls and nick second balls.
06:24 And that's what you need to do against good physical sides.
06:29 And as I said, if you can do that, you'd be a match for both sides. So, yeah, all good.
06:34 And Jack Farrier had to come off an injury a bit early yet to know how he is?
06:38 Well, yeah, he's always carried a little bit of a knock to be honest.
06:42 But I'm sure he'll be fine. I think he'll be all right.
06:46 He had a knock since the start of the game. A tough two games in a week.
06:52 And he kept going down. So, hopefully it's not too serious because he's been excellent.
06:56 But if he's not, we've got Cam Smith who can jump in and do a good job.
07:00 So, we're not too worried either way.
