00:00Hugo, 3-1 win against Wilston in the FA Trophy and a really positive performance, you must
00:06be really happy with that afternoon's work?
00:08Yeah, I mean it's hard getting that, not just because Wilston are a good side, but
00:12the conditions have been difficult, you know, obviously the rain, the wind, the pitch has
00:16cut up a little bit as well. So yeah, it was a bit of a battle, there were times I thought
00:21it looked like a game from the 1970s, but you know, Wilston have got so many strengths
00:25about them, that's what they've been doing so well lately, and what really, really pleased
00:29me wasn't the fact that we, some of the football that we played and the goals we scored, but
00:32the fact that, you know, he rolled his sleeves up and we won most of our duels today, and
00:39in these sort of games when the weather and the conditions are like that, you've got to
00:43win your duels, and you've got to defend well, and with the goal aside, I thought we did.
00:48So I think we deserved a win today, Wilston deserved a win when they came here before,
00:52but I feel that on chances created, effort, all that sort of stuff, I think that we deserved
00:58a win today.
00:59As I say, obviously difficult conditions, but you got on with it, and positive first
01:02half, and then really took control in the second half.
01:05Yeah, do you know what, the best thing about the second half for me was, obviously the
01:09lads that start the game, they start the game, they do their job, and the guys that come
01:12off the bench, which is what we want, you know, they've contributed brilliantly, all
01:17of them that come on, all five of them, they contribute to the win, and Tommy talked about
01:22starts and finishes, so that today was very, very much a team squad win, so we're really
01:28happy with it.
01:29As I say, the first half was positive anyway, but what did you say at half-time, just to
01:33step it up?
01:34Well, the things that we were looking at was, I thought we aged the first half, but at half-time
01:40it was just making sure that we win our duels, make sure that when we lose the ball, when
01:45we're attacking, that we're ready to defend, because it's one of Wilston's real strengths
01:48when they win the ball back, deep in their own half, they're a really big threat, but
01:53the guys they've got at the front end of the pitch, so it was about making sure that we
01:57remained ready to defend, even when we were attacking, that was really key, and I thought
02:02the guys in the back line today were excellent, can't be faulted, so, and just to be a little
02:09bit more positive, and I thought we were playing, maybe it was a little bit too much going sideways
02:12and backwards at times, just to be a little bit more positive, and I thought that we were.
02:17A nice spin and finish in the box from Josh for the first goal there?
02:20Yeah, listen, we see him do that day in, day out, week in, week out, for a long, long time
02:25now, so, listen, Josh wore the captain's armband today, I thought he deserved it, because the
02:30way that he's been in the last month, or since we've played Wilston here, when we had a turn
02:34in form and performance, Josh has just, he's been a real leader, and that was just our
02:39way of acknowledging that today, but listen, he's always got a little bit of magic about
02:43him, Josh.
02:44And the second goal from Aaron, that was a great strike, wasn't it?
02:47Yeah, you know, he's got it in him, Aaron, you know, and the thing about Aaron, he's
02:52a captain for a reason, playing in an unfamiliar position when he came on, it won't bother
02:56him, he just wanted to get on the pitch and just get stuck in to help his team-mates and
03:01lead them, and that's exactly what he did, and that's why I'd say he's a skipper.
03:05Johnny Stotter came off the bench for his debut, sort of pleasing there to get him up
03:08and running?
03:09Listen, Johnny, we met Johnny two days ago, so he trained Thursday, Friday, and I thought
03:15he had a really positive impact today, and we can see what he potentially could bring
03:19to the team.
03:21It wasn't just him off the bench, as I said, it's the others, they all contributed, but
03:25I'm pleased for Johnny, because it's not easy just to walk into a football club when you
03:29don't really know anybody, but this is testament to the group of lads we've got in there, they've
03:33made him welcome, you know, they've made him at home, and it was great to get him on the
03:37pitch today.
03:38Maxi, the one disallowed for offside, but then he gets the third run in the end with
03:42a nice composed finish?
03:43Yeah, we've worked really hard with Maxi, and Maxi's worked really hard himself, he's
03:48a good kid, and we see him as a striker now, the best thing about Maxi is he can fill it
03:55elsewhere, but listen, Maxi had a great shift up front when he came on today, and he deserved
04:00his goal.
04:01Were you all positive momentum building in the last few games, and sort of looked to
04:05keep that going?
04:06Maybe, you know, you're only as good as your last game, or your next game, so the next
04:10game's Tuesday, so we've got to put this one to bed now, we'll enjoy it for five minutes,
04:15and then we'll move straight on to Solihull, but the feeling in the changing room at the
04:19moment, the lads are very, very united, they're very, very together, they want to do well
04:25for Tommy when he's not here, they want to keep giving him reasons to be happy at home
04:30and help with his recuperation, and the best way they can do that is keep winning games
04:33of football for him.
04:34So, long may it continue, there's some really, really hard games coming up, really tough
04:38tests coming up, so we'll rest and recover, and get ourselves prepared to go to Solihull
04:43Tuesday.
04:44Yeah, and thoughts on that Solihull game now, and what you're expecting there?
04:48Good side, very good side, they've got some really, really good players, Connor Wilkinson
04:53up front, he's above this division, for me he shouldn't be in this division, and well
04:56done to Solihull, the fact they got him there, I've seen him, I've watched Connor Wilkinson
05:00for years, and he's a top, top player, so, it's not just him, they've got some real threats,
05:04some real good players, really hard place to go, I know it's a cliche, but it is a hard
05:08place to go, especially on a Tuesday night, you know, but we'll go there in good spirits,
05:12as I said, our tails are up at the moment, and we want to keep our tail up, so, we'll
05:18prepare well, and we'll embrace the game.
