UW guard Koren Johnson talks about his improved play.
Transcript
00:00 >> Corrin, are you comfortable in your role?
00:02 Here you're a sophomore now, you've started a little bit when necessary, but
00:05 basically you come off the bench with five minutes into each half and
00:09 get to do your thing.
00:10 And but you're one of the few local guys too.
00:12 So are you comfortable with who you are right now with this team and
00:16 how they use you and all that?
00:18 >> Yeah, I mean, I'm comfortable with it.
00:19 I mean, everybody wants to be like getting started lineup and stuff, but
00:24 I'm comfortable with coming off the bench.
00:25 I mean, I come in, get people involved, play defense and
00:28 then my scoring at that too, so.
00:30 >> Corrin, you played against this team about a month ago.
00:35 And I was looking at the box score and it's all zeros across the board.
00:38 You're a completely different guy tonight.
00:41 What was the difference between the two games?
00:43 >> Well, I mean, coach said that I kinda was like a little lagging on defense and
00:49 like my energy wasn't there the first game.
00:51 So I kinda just was kinda just sitting there and cheering my team on.
00:55 In this game, I mean, Coach Dubb, we were shooting before the game.
01:00 And like two days ago, he was just like, keep shooting, it's gonna come.
01:02 Cuz I haven't been shooting it well, so he was like, it's gonna come.
01:06 And I mean, tonight was, I just, I was making everything.
01:09 I was.
01:12 >> Keon, you've had big games and
01:13 you had other guys on the team have big games as well.
01:16 Just as a teammate, just how satisfying is it for
01:18 you to have Corrin have a game like that?
01:20 Does that take some pressure off of you, maybe down the road,
01:23 where they gotta pay a little more attention to him now?
01:25 >> Yeah, I mean, I'm not surprised that Corrin went out there and did that.
01:29 I mean, the first game of the season, he had 25 points.
01:31 So we know what he's capable of.
01:33 We all trust him with the ball in his hands to make decisions and make plays.
01:37 And it was for a minute there in the first half, he kinda said,
01:40 he kept us afloat, kept us from drowning a little bit.
01:43 >> You said you're shooting better.
01:45 What is it?
01:46 You just find a groove or what's happening?
01:48 >> Like I said, Coach Dubb, he's been having me shoot for the last two days.
01:51 So like 50 makes a spot.
01:53 So like 300 makes a day.
01:54 That's what.
