00:00 Triple H on that Cody Rhodes Throne Smash Brock Lesnar's WWE 2K24 status
00:06 Sylvester Stallone's WWE confirmed And more.
00:09 I'm Oli Davis, and this is the WrestleTalk News.
00:20 Before we get into our main stories, there is a huge breaking piece of news.
00:24 John Cena just launched an One Fans!
00:27 Posting on Ex, Cena teased the new account will be to 'see him like you've never seen
00:34 me before'.
00:35 But I can't, John.
00:37 That's the cruel irony.
00:38 We can't see you!
00:40 I'll just click the link and sign up to OnlyFans on the homepage now.
00:48 And there's a lot of women on here in bikinis.
01:08 Telling me how to make pizzas.
01:12 Let's rush through the rest of this episode.
01:23 Cena's account is actually a very clever marketing stump for his title role in the
01:27 upcoming Forelli brother comedy Ricky Stanicki, where he plays a washed up actor.
01:32 It's released on Amazon Prime on the 7th March.
01:34 Until then, why not get exclusive content by supporting other creators by becoming a
01:40 Pledgehammer on Patreon.com/wrestletalk.
01:42 Yes, cheap plug.
01:45 More on that in a bit from Turbo Jack.
01:47 The path to true stardom in WWE is simple, but rarely trodden.
01:52 Only the bravest and most committed can overcome its obstacles, as it boils down to this.
01:58 Quit WWE, publicly bury Triple H, then come back as his new best friend.
02:02 CM Punk famously quit in 2014, buried Triple H in his Art of Wrestling podcast, then returned
02:08 in 2023, posting their 'Hell Froze Over' selfie.
02:12 Road Dogg left, buried Triple H in shoot interviews, and then rejoined as one of Hunter's most
02:17 loyal generals.
02:18 And Cody Rhodes left WWE in 2016, smashed a throne with a sledgehammer during his entrance
02:23 on AEW's first pay-per-view - quite clearly a shot at the King of Kings Triple H, whose
02:29 weapon of choice is a sledgehammer - for him to return to WWE and become the company's
02:34 biggest babyface.
02:35 Cody has previously said the throne smashing incident is not mentioned between the two
02:40 of them, but he'd love for it to be eventually because he still has the prop at his Nightmare
02:45 Factory training school, and "there is some imagery, some iconography that can be utilized
02:50 for a show potentially.
02:51 I'd love for it to be eventually talked about."
02:54 But now, in an interview with Alan and Carly, five years after that throne smash happened,
03:00 Triple H has finally revealed his thoughts.
03:03 "I laughed about it then, you know, people make that stuff out to be so much more than
03:08 it is to me.
03:09 If I was in his shoes, I would have done the same thing.
03:12 I am-I reckon Triple H's laugh went a bit like this.
03:16 I'm going to have him lose to Roman then replace him with The Rock."
03:34 Triple H continued, though, putting over Cody's father Dusty as his co-creator of the NXT
03:40 system, and that Rhodes' half decade out of WWE was about him finding himself away
03:45 from the shadow of his dad.
03:47 "I've seen that a few times over the years.
03:49 Drew McIntyre's another guy, right?
03:51 Things went sour, he goes and gambled on himself.
03:54 We had talked about it when he was leaving.
03:56 Go find yourself.
03:58 When you find yourself, I'll be watching.
04:01 When I see you find yourself, we'll talk and you'll come home."
04:06 Their relationship seems pretty good now, as Triple H was in Perth, Australia for the
04:10 Elimination Chamber press event.
04:12 This event, and media calls in wrestling by the way, are actually now fan fests, where
04:16 he led the crowd in an acapella singalong of Cody's theme.
04:27 As well as Rhea Ripley and Grayson Waller drinking out of their own shoes, your country's
04:31 customs are most intriguing.
04:33 WWE also added a new championship match to Saturday's Elimination Chamber event - the
04:37 Kabuki Warriors defending their women's tag team titles against Candice LeRae and
04:42 Indi Hartwell.
04:43 Because Hartwell is Australian.
04:45 Public service announcement - make sure to go back into our Fantasy Predictions competition
04:49 WrestleLeague to add your pick for that new match.
04:52 And anyone who hasn't signed up for that yet, do it now using the link below - where
04:57 you can win up to $250 of Amazon gift card vouchers.
05:01 Dave Meltzer has added on Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE have "some surprises"
05:07 in store for the Elimination Chamber show - likely for the unannounced guests for the
05:11 Grayson Waller Effect talk show segment.
05:14 Triple H has already teased there will be monumental implications for WrestleMania at
05:19 the show, but he's gone out of his way to say it's not The Rock.
05:23 "You are not going to see Rock at Elimination Chamber.
05:26 I'm not going to spin that because I don't want people expecting that and not see that.
05:30 The show will be spectacular, I believe, when it's done.
05:33 Nobody will miss The Rock.
05:35 As this all came to be, his schedule is quite tight, as you can imagine.
05:39 We have him for a lot of events.
05:41 Unfortunately, this was not one of them."
05:44 So you're telling me there's a chance?
05:46 Meltzer has also added those surprises are not The Rock.
05:50 So who could it be?
05:51 Why, it's of course going to be…
05:54 Famed 80s Hollywood star Sylvester Stallone!
06:00 Following votes have posted, sources within WWE indicate there is interest in collaborating
06:05 with Sylvester Stallone for WrestleMania in some form.
06:09 While any communication status is unclear, I'm told there's hope for it.
06:13 Whether it ultimately ends up happening or not is to be determined.
06:17 Stallone, born in New York City, gained fame through the iconic Rocky films deeply associated
06:23 with Philadelphia.
06:24 Which is where WrestleMania XL is taking place.
06:26 Additionally, Stallone is no stranger to the WWE world.
06:30 Kevin inducted Hulk Hogan into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005.
06:35 Andrew Zarian has corroborated that report.
06:38 But what will Stallone do?
06:40 For the benefit of CM Punk, Rocky is the 1976 boxing movie that catapulted Stallone to stardom.
06:46 His character of Rocky Balboa lost to the dominant world champion Apollo Creed in the
06:51 first movie, but won in the sequel.
06:55 Sound familiar?
06:56 Perhaps Stallone could be in Cody's corner for his WrestleMania rematch against Reigns.
07:01 While The Rock, widely seen as the man who inherited Stallone and Schwarzenegger's
07:06 action movie hero mantle, stands in the opposite corner for Roman.
07:11 The final scenes of Rocky 2 might also give us the Mania match's finish if they lean
07:15 into this idea, where Rocky needs a knockout in the final round to win.
07:19 He punches Creed, and they do a Double Down.
07:22 But Rocky just gets to his feet at the count of 9, becoming the new world champion.
07:27 Perhaps Roman vs Cody might even have a Last Man Standing stipulation.
07:36 How would you book Stallone's WrestleMania involvement?
07:38 And who do you think the Chamber surprises are?
07:41 Let me know in the comments because I'll be replying to people FROM OUTTA DOWN UNDER.
07:46 Talking of 80s action heroes, here's Turbo Jack.
08:14 [outro]
08:19 And as always, I'm Rick Otto.
08:45 One person that Elimination Chamber surprise will probably not be is Brock Lesnar.
09:07 Lesnar was all but named in Janelle Grant's lawsuit against Vince McMahon.
09:11 She alleged that in the summer of 2021, Vince offered her for sexual favours to a world
09:16 famous athlete and former UFC heavyweight champion, with whom WWE was actively trying
09:22 to sign to a new contract.
09:24 The Wall Street Journal then reported that people close to the situation believed that
09:28 person is Brock Lesnar.
09:31 Lesnar was subsequently removed from the 2024 Royal Rumble match, where he was reportedly
09:36 planned to make his return to set up a match against Dominik Mysterio at Elimination Chamber,
09:41 but he was replaced by Brom Breaker.
09:43 He was also removed from the WrestleMania XL card, where he would reportedly face Gunther
09:48 for the Intercontinental title.
09:50 WWE also replaced him in their opening video sting with LA Knight.
09:55 Following WWE's lead, their partner companies also phased Lesnar out.
10:00 First 2K Games removed Lesnar from their WWE Supercard game and off the 2K24 cover, and
10:06 now Inside Gaming is reporting Lesnar will be in the WWE 2K24 game, but you won't be
10:12 able to play as him.
10:14 Multiple sources have told Insider Gaming that while it was too late to fully remove
10:18 Lesnar from the game, the plan shifted to simply make him unplayable for players upon
10:24 release.
10:25 Backing up this report, 2K have released the full roster of playable wrestlers for the
10:28 game, and Lesnar's name does not feature.
10:31 In an update to a story I covered yesterday, BREAKING, Hangman Page is really good at his
10:37 job.
10:38 In the closing moment of Dynamite's six-man main event, Hangman seemingly picked up a
10:42 real injury when he rolled outside clutching his ankle, screaming at the cameraman not
10:47 to film him, and was then seen limping to the back.
10:51 Wrestling Observer Radio then reported they'd heard it was a broken ankle, which is terrible
10:56 timing with Hangman in the Revolution Pay-Per-View's World Championship three-way.
11:00 Oh god, just when AEW are on a great run and are getting momentum with some great TV consistently
11:06 at the moment, something like this happens on one of their major programs.
11:09 It's such bad luck.
11:11 Goddammit, I've been enjoying AEW so much recently.
11:15 But just one more thing.
11:16 Fightful Select then reported, "No, it's all a work.
11:20 Hangman is fine."
11:23 So the next question was… why?
11:26 I theorised on our Dynamite Review podcast it was a way to protect Page in defeat at
11:31 the pay-per-view - that he could continue his whinging heel character by blaming it
11:35 on an injury right after he lost, just like David Haye blamed his broken toe in his post-match
11:41 loss to Wladimir Klitschko in 2011.
11:43 It's a great way to continue Hangman's character development.
11:46 I've been loving it.
11:47 He's just like this sort of justified heel character.
11:49 You can understand where he's coming from.
11:51 Kind of like Drew McIntyre in WWE.
11:53 Oh yeah, but just one more thing.
11:55 Turns out… also no.
11:57 Because Bryan Alvarez has now added, "The reason that he worked the ankle injury is
12:02 because he has something going on in his personal life and he may not be able to work the pay-per-view.
12:08 If he can't work the pay-per-view, then this is the cover story as to why he can't
12:13 work the pay-per-view.
12:14 He injured his ankle."
12:16 Apparently very few people knew about this, and we're back to doubting Hangman's status
12:20 for Revolution.
12:21 It's Elimination Chamber first though, so go watch our predictions for the show right
