Ramdam daw ng nakararaming Pilipino ang epekto ng climate change na posible pa raw lumala! Ayon sa DENR, bukod sa pagpapababa ng peligro dapat din daw ay matuto na tayong mamuhay sa gitna nito.

00:00 Many Filipinos feel the effect of climate change that is possible to be avoided.
00:06 According to the DNR, aside from reducing the danger,
00:09 we should also learn to live in the midst of it.
00:13 I'm Danoting Cungco.
00:16 Recently, GMA Integrated News showed
00:22 how the barangays in Bulacan are slowly being erased from the map.
00:27 The reason is the rising sea levels,
00:31 accompanied by the sinking of the land.
00:35 This is one of the most alarming effects of climate change
00:40 that was discussed in the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation Forum today.
00:44 While sea level rise may seem like an invisible,
00:47 almost imperceptible phenomenon to most of us,
00:50 the Lopez Center reports that the Philippine rate of rise is double that of the global average
00:55 looking back to 1993.
00:58 According to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources
01:01 from the Global Climate Change Satellite Data from NASA of America,
01:06 the sea level in the world has risen to 99.8 mm or less than 4 inches
01:13 compared to 1993.
01:15 The effect of climate change in the past 3 years
01:19 was estimated by 87% of Filipinos based on the SWS survey of December.
01:25 According to the DNR, if the Philippines doesn't do anything,
01:28 the effects will be more noticeable.
01:32 The plan estimates that the cost of inaction within the 2030 decade
01:37 to the expected increases in temperature, rainfall changes,
01:41 and sea level rise and typhoons
01:46 are in fact amounting to about 1.4 trillion pesos
01:51 or around 8% of 2020's GDP.
01:55 The strategy of the DNR is not only mitigation or reducing the danger,
02:01 but also adaptation or knowledge on how to make it survive in the midst of danger.
02:07 The DNR also developed the National Adaptation Plan,
02:11 a document that includes all hazards and exposure to the effects of climate change
02:17 of each province in the country.
02:19 There is also a plan to reduce greenhouse emissions in the country
02:23 which is one of the reasons for the global warming.
02:26 There is also a plan to build a marine research station and DNR in Santa Ana, Cagayan
02:31 that will help to take care of the coastal and marine environment of the country.
02:36 For GMA Integrated News, I'm Danot Tincungco, for 24 Hours.
