00:00 Nightly greetings one and all. William Theo here, homegrown to be bringing you the latest major events breaking all over the planet and within the 24-hour news cycle.
00:10 Atop PTV's early leaderboard, the Dragon Slayers trial in Hong Kong.
00:16 Ransacked shops and stores along the protest route to draw Hong Kong cops, push them closer to where the bombs are laid out along the route and seize their firearms after the blast.
00:28 This was the gist of the modus operandi defined in the charge filed by Hong Kong security force against 14 Hong Kong residents dubbed the Dragon Slayers in their trial that kicked off earlier today.
00:42 They have been accused for allegedly planning to carry out a bomb attack to murder police officers during the 2019 pro-democracy protests.
00:52 Even worse, the 14 have been charged under the Anti-Terrorism Act the first time it has been invoked and carries even harsher punishments.
01:01 By the end of last year, over 11,200 had been arrested with more than 3,000 charged over their participation in the tumultuous pro-democratic protest of 2019.
01:13 The trial is expected to last for two months.
01:17 History and suspicion hang over the death of Vladimir Putin's political nemesis Alexei Navalny since Russian authorities announced his demise over the weekend.
01:27 Putin's reticence and non-action plus Russian authorities' refusal to yield Navalny's body to his loved ones or medical examiners for autopsy purposes has fueled an avalanche of speculation and hypotheticals.
01:44 Practically the entire Western world and Europe place the blame entirely on Putin and his minions presiding over his incarceration.
01:53 In many parts of Russia, to include Moscow, police have cracked down on those wishing to assemble and pay homage to the fallen Navalny,
02:01 herding them into squad cars and police vans before their numbers could mount and their voices and protest actions get louder and streamed online.
02:11 Of late, Russian authorities reportedly probing Navalny's demise have told his mother that the inquiry or investigation into her son's death has been extended indefinitely.
02:22 A spokeswoman for the Navalny camp says the probe extension is indefinite with the cause of death still undetermined.
02:30 She also says the Russian authorities are lying and playing for time.
02:36 Meanwhile, much of the support for Ukraine in funds and firepower in its war against Russia are not entirely from Europe and the United States.
02:45 A substantial chunk is derived from Asia, from Japan particularly.
02:49 Earlier today, Japan even cemented its continued support to Ukraine in a conference at Tokyo that brought hundreds of businessmen, leaders and government officials from both nations together.
03:01 Japan's Premier Fumio Kishida declared the promotion of economic reconstruction is not only investment for Ukraine's future, but also for Japan and the entire globe.
03:13 He also promised to relax visa controls and the opening of the Japan Trade External Organization office in Kyiv soon.
03:21 For his part, Ukraine Prime Minister Denis Shymal said some 50 agreements were inked between both countries to include an intergovernment all-convention on the avoidance of double taxation.
03:36 Since Russia's war against Ukraine began early two years ago, Japan has pledged over $10 billion in financial and humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
03:46 In a joint report issued last week, the United Nations, European Union and World Bank estimates $486 billion to rebuild Ukraine in the next 10 years.
03:59 And at this moment, let's turn to my PTV colleague in Pine City Studios for the latest development brewing in the Cordilleras.
04:10 In the Philippines, the local government of Cordillera has approved the Local Public Transport Route Plan, which is part of the implementation of the PUV Modernization Program.
04:25 The LTFRB has confirmed that the local government of Cordillera has approved the LPTRP, which is the province of Benguet.
04:35 The PUVMP mandated the local government to approve the LPTRP to make the public transport service more effective.
04:47 The LPTRP blueprint and road network details are being applied as the PUV units that are being used in the municipality of Benuet province.
04:58 The LTFRB CAR has helped in applying the local government.
05:04 The compliance of our LGUs is still continuous. Actually, some of them are under evaluation by the central office.
05:14 It would take time because the focus of the LGUs is on studying the needs of the local government.
05:23 This is the latest update from the Committee on Legislative Franchises.
05:29 This is the camera that will be used to update the electricity cooperative of Benguet.
05:38 We will be entering the March 2028 Franchise of the cooperative under the National Electrification Administration.
05:47 The Senator will be elected as the new president of the Senate.
05:54 The signature campaign for the manifesto of support will continue.
05:59 The member consumer will sign the declaration of support from the collection centers of the headquarters of the cooperative in South Drive.
06:09 There is a need for a resolution of support because sometimes there are people who are overwhelmed.
06:15 We don't know how to make resolutions.
06:19 Can we make letters? Yes, we can.
06:22 You can write that you are a member consumer owner of Benneco and you support the franchise renewal of Benneco.
06:32 That is also possible.
06:33 This is PTV Cordillera, Shakni Ala Sunduan, for INBAG-ARABI.
06:43 Thank you, Ala. That's a wrap for tonight.
06:47 We look forward to you joining us here again tomorrow, same time, same location, on your remote and browser for more of the same.
06:54 William Theo wishing you all a restful night ahead.
