00:02 I was like, "Whoa, could I be a cat dad?"
00:06 I am in front of the cat shelter right now
00:10 and I've officially decided to foster a cat.
00:15 Things that I do know about cats, nothing.
00:17 Hey, Taco, say hi.
00:20 We walked into the Los Angeles Animal Services.
00:24 The first time I pet him during the meet and greet,
00:26 he wasn't really having it.
00:29 I would say he was just a little timid.
00:31 It just hit me that there's literally a cat in my car
00:34 coming home to me.
00:36 But when we were in the car,
00:38 he was a little more affectionate, a little curious.
00:41 I let you out while I was at the stoplight.
00:43 It doesn't mean, yeah, okay, look,
00:44 what you get what you get outside.
00:46 Don't go out the window.
00:49 Explore the car, but don't get crazy.
00:51 As soon as we got home,
00:54 the first place that I wanted to introduce him to
00:56 was the guest bathroom.
00:58 It's small, intimate, not too much open.
01:00 He can just get a taste of the new scenery.
01:03 I think I lost the (beep) cat.
01:05 I think I lost the cat.
01:06 Where is the cat?
01:07 He's gone.
01:07 The first day we got into the house,
01:09 I remember I put him in the bathroom.
01:10 Guys, I found Taco.
01:13 I closed this bathroom door.
01:14 I went outside to go take the trash out
01:16 and Taco was nowhere to be found for at least 15 minutes.
01:19 I just wanna show you where Taco was this whole time.
01:23 What does that look like?
01:24 I was like, they will never let me walk back
01:26 into this shelter.
01:27 One day, Broderick, the first day,
01:30 you couldn't keep up with the cat.
01:31 Of course he's here.
01:33 Losing a cat.
01:33 Of course I wouldn't lose him.
01:34 He's just hiding.
01:35 Like, yeah, that's all I'm getting.
01:37 What's going on, buddy?
01:39 - Accidents happen.
01:40 - Day two, I came outside to an accident on the couch.
01:44 He's under there and I think he's
01:46 in the shag outside on the balcony.
01:48 I just want you to go use your litter, buddy.
01:51 Use your litter.
01:52 I tried my best.
01:53 I said, this is the litter.
01:55 This is the box.
01:56 I'm gonna put some litter in this box.
01:58 I'm gonna show you, this is where you poop.
02:00 This is where you pee.
02:01 Told him that like three times.
02:03 And I think he's only used his litter box like maybe twice.
02:06 The moment I felt like he was warming up to me
02:08 was when he started falling asleep on me.
02:10 That's when I realized, okay,
02:11 we're starting to catch each other's vibe.
02:13 We're starting to be friends now.
02:14 We already were friends,
02:15 but now we're starting to get closer.
02:17 What's up, buddy?
02:17 The first time I got Taco to play,
02:24 I had this little key chain toy
02:26 with a little feather on it.
02:27 I was just spinning around with him.
02:28 He seemed like he was having fun.
02:30 And that made a much more fun experience.
02:32 Sometimes animals don't get that same type of love
02:35 or they don't get the luxury of a home.
02:37 They don't get the luxury of
02:38 coming to sexual love and tenderness.
02:39 So when I went into this, I was like,
02:41 well, I can give an opportunity to a cat
02:43 so he can know what love in a home feels like.
02:46 So in this, I just wanted to make sure
02:47 that he just felt love.
02:49 (gentle music)
02:51 I will absolutely foster again.
02:58 Am I ready to become a cat dad?
03:00 Yes, but not right now.
03:02 With my life right now in its transition,
03:04 it wouldn't be a smart decision for myself
03:07 or the little one,
03:07 but it is something I would totally consider
03:09 in the near future.
03:10 I found out two hours after I dropped Taco off
03:15 that he was adopted by a couple
03:17 and he was off to his new family.
03:20 So that was a great end to the story
03:22 and I feel good about it.
03:24 Got a little comfort, huh?
03:29 What's it like fostering a cat?
03:31 It's like this.
03:33 (gentle music)
03:36 Really good.
