00:00 Let's hop into a little bit of film review now on Matt Johnson, looking at his regular
00:05 season tape 6 foot 5, 260 pounds.
00:10 Just to give you guys a little recruiting rundown here.
00:14 He is rated a four star prospect on the 247 sports composite 0.8909.
00:20 The number 363 recruit nationally, the number 28 edge rusher and the number 34 player in
00:26 California had 17 reported scholarships at the time of his commitment to Oregon, including
00:32 Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame and Ole Miss, Texas A&M as well, just to name a few.
00:38 So this is certainly a national recruit that the ducks just added.
00:43 And I think one of the first things that pops off that jumps off on the tape here for Matthew
00:48 Johnson is just the raw power that he plays with.
00:51 He just overpowers his guys along the offensive line.
00:56 You see the bull rush is obviously a move that he really likes here playing on the interior,
01:01 but he also has a good swim move.
01:03 Someone that has strong hands, vicious hands and is really good at disengaging from the
01:09 blocker from the offensive lineman.
01:11 I really like this play here against St. Francis, the same school that produced Cyrus and BB
01:16 Leakey.
01:17 Bennett Williams, Evan Williams, one of my rivals in high school.
01:22 They are also a pretty good program on the up and up.
01:25 But you see the play here from Matt Johnson, making the just initiating the contact to
01:31 just strike his offensive lineman in the upper upper body and just blow him off the ball
01:37 and then quickly getting the hand on the ball carrier, forcing the fumble.
01:40 Boom, Dallas Al recovers.
01:42 That's a turnover.
01:44 And another reason why Matt Johnson, I think, is such a great pickup for the Ducks here.
01:48 You're not just getting a guy that's a pure pass rusher.
01:51 He also brings added value in defending the run.
