00:00 Gavin, 2-0 win against Shearwater today, keeps a good form going and another three points
00:06 in the play-off push.
00:07 Thoughts on that?
00:08 Yeah, three points, clean sheet.
00:11 We had a way we wanted to play today and some would say it wasn't very pretty but we felt
00:15 that was how we were going to get three points but we needed two.
00:18 Two cup exits in the week which disappoint in different circumstances for both but we
00:24 just needed to get back on track today and it was by any means and that's what we did
00:27 so you wouldn't have wanted to play to watch some of the football we did today but I wasn't.
00:32 Was it a bit more direct than usual today and what were the reasons for that?
00:37 Today obviously said it was a plan.
00:39 Yeah, definitely we were going to be more direct.
00:41 We felt we were physically stronger than them and better than them in terms of aerial ability
00:46 so we thought why not use it.
00:47 I mean we probably had 25 set pieces, throw in some corners and we probably should have
00:54 scored more.
00:55 If we'd have scored in the first half it might have been a bit of a bigger scoreline but
00:59 it doesn't really matter.
01:00 It was clean sheet and they're a young side, they're a new side so they'll trouble some
01:06 teams but I just felt the way we set up was the way to win the game.
01:10 It was clear, you could have had plenty of chances in the first half to get the goal
01:14 and Pat Cox was aerially dominant at those set pieces, winning all those headers, it
01:18 just wouldn't quite go in though would it in that first half?
01:21 He's aerially dominant against senior teams as well so it's not just against these guys
01:26 but we just felt it was a way that we would have got a lot of chances and we did.
01:30 I'd say I thought they defended well and we probably weren't decent in front of goal where
01:35 we could have been but you can't get frustrated coming up at half time at nil-nil when you
01:39 could have been two maybe three up, you just have to keep plugging away and we did that
01:43 and got the job done.
01:44 Presumably at half time it was just stay patient because you'd had chances but just a case
01:49 of stay patient and it will come sort of thing was it?
01:52 Yeah and where we'd gone a bit more direct it did allow us to then play a little bit
01:55 more in the second half so in the second 45 we did get the midfielders on the ball, play
02:00 through the first, got the wide lads on the ball as well and we looked like we enjoyed
02:05 ourselves a lot more than the first half but they did what they were told and that's all
02:09 I can ask.
02:10 And then obviously once Owen gets the first and then the second obviously follows soon
02:14 after from Jamie as well so once you got that first it really opened it up didn't it?
02:19 Yeah the first one was a bit scrappy how we got it but we got it and then the second one
02:23 was a great pass and a great finish and probably the best bit of football of the game for us
02:27 but again I wasn't worried how it came.
02:30 And then using your bench was that just a good chance at two nil just to get a few people
02:35 off, get a few other people on?
02:37 We've got to be careful, I've got nine out at the minute and again they're all arguably
02:41 people that want to start on this side but again it just shows we've got a good group,
02:46 Oli Kav gets a start in centre midfield today, we're always using the lads from the 23 so
02:52 we're doing some really positive stuff here and it's good for the future.
02:55 And Lewis obviously didn't have a lot to do but a clean sheet, another good tick in the
03:00 box there presumably?
03:01 Yeah everyone wants to keep a clean sheet, not just goalkeepers, the team as a unit are
03:06 pleased to keep them.
