00:00 Hello, I'm Sam Morton and here is your Daily Sussex News bulletin on Thursday February 8th.
00:05 TV presenter Piers Morgan told Prime Minister Rishi Sunak that his mother experienced a scene out of a war zone when she was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.
00:15 In an interview with the Prime Minister on Piers Morgan Uncensored, the pair discussed the state of the NHS, primarily waiting times.
00:23 Morgan revealed his mother, Gabrielle O'Meara, was put on a trolley in an A&E corridor for nearly seven hours after suffering a heart attack.
00:30 He said at one stage no nurse came for three or four hours. There were between 35 and 40 other people on trolleys in the corridors.
00:37 Morgan said most of the people waiting were elderly, adding old men were begging for bottles to urinate into. Others were crying in pain or discomfort.
00:46 In response, Sunak said it's not good enough, adding this is a shocking story and I'm really glad that she's feeling better now. Send her my best. I'm glad she got the treatment she needed.
00:55 Meanwhile, motorists are facing disruption and long detours with the stretch of the A259 to be closed to traffic from 7pm to 6am between Monday March 4th and Friday March 22nd.
01:07 The road closure is to allow East Sussex Highways contractors Balfour and BT to carry out resurfacing work.
01:15 The work will include removing and replacing the existing road surface, curbing and footwear repairs and the replacement of a high friction surface in some locations.
01:22 The roadwork stretch between East Parade on the seafront and Old London Road going through the Bourne. This will also include the entrance to Harold Road.
01:30 A diversion route will be in place via Priory Road, Mount Pleasant Road and Elphinstone Road.
01:36 An alternative diversion route will be in place for heavy good vehicles via the A21, A28 and A268.
01:44 Access for residents will be unaffected between the junction of Old London Road and Priory Road to 100m north of the junction with the High Street.
01:51 There will also be areas of no parking along the route with cones and signs in place.
01:56 Finally, two Horsham restaurants have been awarded Top Culinary Awards.
02:01 Restaurant Interlude at Lennersley Gardens and The Pass at South Lodge Hotel have again been awarded Michelin Stars.
02:08 It is the fifth consecutive year that Restaurant Interlude has received the honour and this year it has also been awarded a Michelin Green Star.
02:14 The Michelin Guide gives Green Stars to restaurants which combine culinary excellence with outstanding eco-friendly commitments.
