00:00 Royston or should we say Dr. Vinegar. How you doing Royston?
00:07 I'm not too bad.
00:08 And a face a few might recognise from Black Country food legendary eatery majors.
00:15 Yeah.
00:16 That was your family business wasn't it?
00:17 It was, 1975 that opened.
00:19 Yeah.
00:20 Been there a long long time, 50 years next year.
00:23 Yeah, well we knew kind of you Expression Style reported on the business being sold.
00:27 Yes.
00:28 So we thought that was it, you guys were out the chip game.
00:31 Unfortunately not.
00:32 We're still here, just under a different name.
00:35 That's it, yeah so the legend lives.
00:38 Just about yeah.
00:40 So yeah, we're soon to be opening on the Willanall Road here.
00:43 Yes.
00:44 Hoping to be up and running in just a few days really.
00:47 Wednesday, fingers crossed.
00:48 Yeah, yeah.
00:49 Got a bit to do in there.
00:50 Yep.
00:51 But yeah, Wednesday morning, well Wednesday 12 o'clock we should open our doors for the first time.
00:55 So the attention to detail on the flavours and tastes, that'll continue I presume?
01:01 Yeah, so we're continuing with a major theme.
01:04 Food's going to be very similar, a couple of tweaks from our friends at Middleton's, just up the road.
01:10 Middleton's Foods, give them a shout out.
01:13 It's literally just up the road from here isn't it?
01:14 Yeah, it's great, if I need any stock I just go up there.
01:16 And you were saying they do all your batter stuff and that, and they do it like tailor made?
01:20 Yeah, it's all bespoke to us, make our curry sauce for us.
01:23 Great company, really good.
01:25 They do our packaging for us as well, with our brand on.
01:28 So yeah, really good company.
01:29 So keeping it all black country, it's good all round.
01:31 Absolutely.
01:32 So this recipe, this kind of secret ingredient so to speak,
01:38 is that a family thing that's been kind of passed down then from mum and dad?
01:43 Yeah, so my dad started this in 1975 with the batter chips.
01:49 Not claiming he invented them, because he didn't, but he made them popular with me.
01:54 Yeah.
01:55 100%.
01:56 And Dr Vinegar, where's that name come from? Is there a story to that?
01:58 How big was the list of names?
02:01 Not really, we opened a little trailer on Bentley Bridge, 2019.
02:10 That was called Dr Vinegar's because I wanted to do something a little bit different for majors.
02:15 Yeah.
02:16 And Covid hit, so we had to give that up.
02:20 But the name Dr Vinegar's just came to me one day.
02:24 I was surprised it wasn't taken.
02:26 Yeah.
02:27 So we co-operated it and there we go.
02:29 So is that what your mates have started calling you now down the pub, Dr Vinegar?
02:33 No, I haven't got time to go down the pub at the moment.
02:36 Exactly, yeah.
02:37 Well yeah, we should say, because you've got people that love the taste of the major's chips.
02:41 Oldbury as well, there's a Dr Vinegar's now.
02:43 So we opened that 3rd of January this year, so just over a month.
02:47 And it's gone really, really well.
02:49 That's Dudley Road, Oldbury?
02:51 41 Dudley Road, Oldbury, yes.
02:53 And in a former pub, you said it's done well so far?
02:57 It's done really well, yeah. Really, really good.
03:00 Right, so look out then, coming soon, Willow Null Road, Eastgate Retail Park.
03:06 That's the one, Eastgate Retail Park.
03:07 That's the one, that's the one.
03:08 Major's, no, Dr Vinegar.
03:11 Coming soon.
