00:00 Bianca Tarrant, co-founder of Our Cow. Why have you put on today's event?
00:05 Yeah, we've partnered today with Rural Aid as part of the Harbourfest celebrations to really bring some of the country life to the big city.
00:12 We've got cattle, sheep, working dogs. We've brought down a handful of our farmers that supply produce to Our Cow to come down for the day
00:19 and just really show people in the city what we do every day on the land to produce food and to connect with the people that are eating our food
00:26 and also to tell them that there are other avenues that you can support farmers and you can buy direct
00:32 especially when everything that's going on at the moment it is important to be supporting farmers and putting farmers first.
00:38 Part of the event was to raise awareness of supermarket prices compared to real prices.
00:46 How do you think you're going to get that message across?
00:49 Yeah, I think just showing people what we do, like talking to people, engaging with them, telling them our stories
00:54 and explaining what goes into producing food and what we do every day on the farm is a really big message that we do want to send to people
01:00 and telling them that there are other ways that you can buy food. It doesn't just have to be through the supermarkets.
01:06 You can buy directly if you choose to and know that the money that you are spending is going directly back to a farming family.
01:13 And what was involved with getting today's event off the ground?
01:17 Yeah, it wasn't an easy feat. There's not too many times in the history of Australia, I think, that there's been cattle put under the Harbour Bridge
01:23 and we've got sheep and dogs, so there was a fair bit of coordinating with the department to get all the licenses and the approvals that we needed
01:29 to bring the livestock down here for the day. And a lot of work from the farmer's perspective as well.
01:34 There's three young kids that have spent their entire school holidays breaking the cattle in to get them quiet enough to be here today,
01:39 as well as Peter Brown with his work dogs and the sheep, getting the sheep quiet enough too.
