Former UW coach Kalen DeBoer broke down his 2024 defensive-line signees.
Transcript
00:00 Moving over to the defensive side, we have four, and I'm just gonna kind of put them all together,
00:04 but four defensive linemen, that includes the two edges, two interior guys.
00:08 Omar and Mana, the interior guys, and Noah and Keona are the edges.
00:17 I just feel like moving into the Big Ten, these are the type of guys you absolutely want on the football field and want to be recruiting.
00:24 Explosive edges, length with Noah and Keona. Noah, I mean, you see his film, you're seeing him punt returns,
00:33 you're seeing him return punts for touchdowns, catching fades as a wide receiver, elite athlete all around.
00:42 He uses his hands well, and again, because he's doing all these things in different ways for his football team,
00:47 I just think there's so much growth that he has just in the technical piece, learning the edge position.
00:53 But man, he was voted Defensive Player of the Year in the state there in Arizona.
01:02 Keona, also from Arizona there, just extreme length, just a motor that doesn't stop,
01:10 just getting after people and plays physical.
01:14 And his frame, when you see him walk in the door, you're just gonna be like,
01:18 wow, this is a guy that gets one season here in the weight room.
01:23 I think both these guys are guys that can do some things and helping us out here sooner than later in their careers.
01:30 So I'm excited, extremely excited about both of those guys at the edge position.
01:36 And then, Mata, length, just his change of direction as a big guy already,
01:45 with some good weight on him, just I think the sky's the limit for him.
01:50 Just such a likable personality, kind of this guy that you love hanging around,
01:56 but when you get on the football field, he's just got a nastiness to him that you love.
02:01 And so really, really feel good about what he's gonna do for us,
02:06 putting on that weight that you need and continue to grow and be that player
02:11 that can hold down the line of scrimmage there moving on into the Big Ten.
02:16 Omar Khan is just physically, I mean, you go around and you give him a pat on the back,
02:22 and you can feel the development of him and how strong he is already.
02:27 Just when he comes off the line of scrimmage, I mean, he's hitting you in the mouth.
02:31 And so packs a punch there, just really great kid, just great family.
02:37 Excited about all these guys, and again, I brought up their families,
02:42 but Omar certainly has had great support back home.
02:46 And you talk to him every time, and he's got that excitement to him, that energy to him.
02:53 I know that that's gonna only feed and be contagious to the rest of our football team.
