00:00 It is the most unique situation to take over a team that just finished number two in the country and are 14 and 1.
00:10 The job that was done here is fantastic and I understand that. I recognize that.
00:17 We are not going to rebuild, but we are going to reconstruct.
00:22 There's a roster that has a lot of changes.
00:25 There's going to be a lot of new players, a lot of new faces, new coaches, new support staff.
00:30 But this team, the team that did, achieved some of the greatest accomplishments in all of college football, deserves a ton of credit.
00:41 And for all of you that are here, please give yourselves a hand. You certainly deserve it.
00:45 [applause]
00:52 I was able to receive a fantastic text message last night from Coach Peterson.
00:57 And I can tell you how appreciative I am and how much respect I have for him.
01:01 How much respect I have for Don James. I've worked for guys like Dom Capers that work for Don James.
01:07 And you hear consistently about what a special person he was.
01:12 And I recognize that what's so important of all the coaches that have paced that sideline is it's about character and it's about commitment.
01:20 It's about excellence. It's about doing it the right way.
01:24 Universities are not defined by a coach, but by the young men in this program.
01:30 In 2024, college football has changed. And we all have to recognize that.
01:37 I do believe that our culture is transferable.
01:42 Our culture is us. Our culture is people.
01:48 You can compete with schematics, but you win with people.
01:54 And that will be exactly what we preach every single day.
01:59 We recognize and we will own the responsibility of putting a great product on the field.
