00:00 Hey, how's it going, Avery?
00:01 Good, good.
00:03 Very excited about your season.
00:05 Were you hesitant at all about being the Bachelor?
00:08 Was there any part of you that thought about saying no?
00:11 I think that you have to think through the decision.
00:14 I wanted to make sure that I was fully ready,
00:16 and I thought that I could do this.
00:18 But if I'm being honest, pretty early
00:21 on when I was going through the process of it,
00:23 I was thinking about doing it.
00:25 I knew that if the opportunity came, I was going to say yes.
00:28 Yeah.
00:29 Obviously, relationships and what you need out of them
00:32 change through experiences and whatnot.
00:36 Was there anything that when you look back
00:38 on your experience with charity and The Bachelorette
00:40 that you realized that you need in a relationship now?
00:43 Yeah, I think that I always try to learn
00:46 from any past relationship.
00:48 And one thing I learned from being with charity,
00:50 just from past relationships in general,
00:51 is how much I need someone that thinks of other people,
00:54 is very understanding, is very kind.
00:56 And I feel like when I connect with them,
00:58 I can just feel that coming off of them at all times.
01:00 So charity had that.
01:02 She was just a very sweet and kind person.
01:04 And I know that's something I'm looking for in the person
01:06 that I want to be with.
01:09 What was it like for you switching positions
01:11 from suitor to the bachelor?
01:13 I feel like you have a lot more control of your destiny
01:16 a little bit this time around, but it's still like--
01:19 must have felt like whiplash.
01:21 Yeah, you definitely have more control,
01:23 but there's also a lot more that comes with it.
01:25 There's a lot more expectations.
01:27 You obviously have a lot more time on the show.
01:30 And it comes with its own territory.
01:32 But I enjoyed it.
01:34 I took it as much as I could in stride, like I said.
01:36 And it was a great experience at the end of the day.
01:39 You had been on the one end of rose ceremonies,
01:43 and now you are on the other.
01:45 What was that like?
01:47 Like your first rose ceremony, were you
01:49 intimidated a little bit?
01:50 I don't know.
01:51 There's a lot of pressure there.
01:52 Yeah, I think when you're on the contestant side,
01:55 you have that pit in your stomach.
01:56 If you don't have the rose on your chest,
01:58 you're worried about going home.
02:00 So you can't compare that, because that's
02:03 a completely different feeling.
02:04 And it's way different on this side.
02:06 But you also have this feeling of feeling bad
02:09 that you're going to have to say goodbye to people.
02:11 And it's probably--
02:12 I wouldn't even say probably.
02:13 It's the hardest part of the experience
02:15 are those rose ceremonies, because you feel terrible.
02:18 These people put themselves out there.
02:19 You make real connections.
02:21 And it can end with just a snap of a finger.
02:23 And I always try to do it with as much compassion
02:26 as I could.
02:27 But it's a very tough time.
02:28 And neither are easy.
02:30 But I will say the contestants have it a little worse.
02:34 You know, there's this mystery card
02:36 that I think that has sort of taken over the internet
02:39 that Leah has.
02:40 And in the previews we've seen, it's sparking some concern.
02:44 Can you tease the impact of what's inside this envelope?
02:48 Yeah, I can let you know that it is definitely impactful.
02:51 It's a big part of the episode.
02:53 And I think it's going to be worth tuning in to figure out
02:55 what's on that card.
02:56 I mean, it's been a while since we've had kind of a twist,
03:01 you know, like this.
03:03 So it's going to be really cool to sort of see
03:05 how that sort of impacts the season
03:08 and, you know, how the show continues to switch things up,
03:11 you know, however many seasons-- there's 28 seasons in.
03:14 Right.
03:16 No, I think they always try to do something
03:17 different where they can.
03:18 I like that.
03:19 Yeah.
03:19 Do you have any regrets over what goes down this season?
03:23 No, I'm not someone that likes to focus on regrets.
03:26 I know that I always did the best job that I could.
03:29 I led with my heart.
03:30 I was honest and true.
03:31 And I just--
03:32 I don't like to think about regretting anything,
03:34 because I know I made the best decisions I could at that time.
03:38 And I'll live with however it looks at the end of the day.
03:40 Did you fall in love?
03:43 I don't think I can answer that one.
03:44 I can just tell you that I'm happy right now.
03:47 So you're happy with how your Bachelor journey ended?
03:49 100%.
03:50 Yeah, I'm very happy.
03:52 And I'm excited for everyone to see how the whole journey goes.
03:55 How did your parents and your family just react to this?
03:59 This is-- going from Suter to The Bachelor,
04:03 that's quite the pipeline.
04:05 Like, a lot more comes with it.
04:07 Yeah, I think that they were excited.
04:10 They were definitely in my corner.
04:11 I think with The Bachelorette, they
04:12 were so worried about me getting my heart broken.
04:14 On this one, they're still worried,
04:16 because they know there's a lot of things
04:18 that come along with it.
04:19 But they know that I'm going to be
04:20 able to have a little bit more control.
04:22 And they just kind of hoped that I would find my person.
04:24 So they were nothing but supportive.
04:26 And yeah, I know they're in my corner,
04:27 which is all I can ask for.
04:29 During the show and while you were filming,
04:32 you know, whether it be in California or all the places
04:35 that you guys went, did you find a tennis court?
04:38 Did you always manage to sort of stumble upon one
04:41 to get some practice in or just sort
04:44 of let loose a little bit?
04:45 I'll let you know.
04:46 We found a few tennis courts.
04:47 I think they're going to see a couple of different tennis
04:50 courts throughout the show.
04:51 Awesome.
04:51 Well, I am very excited to see your journey.
04:55 And hopefully we can chat again very soon about,
04:58 you know, as the show continues, as the season continues.
05:00 Yeah.
05:01 So nice to meet you.
05:02 I appreciate it.
05:03 Nice to meet you, too.
05:04 Thank you so much.
05:06 Thanks, Avery.
