01:03 Dear viewers, the topic of our brief discussion today is the biography of saints.
01:11 What are the attributes of saints?
01:15 What is the identity of a saint?
01:18 What is his sign?
01:20 When does a saint become a saint?
01:23 The first thing to keep in mind is that sainthood is a rank, a status, a special glory
01:35 which God Almighty grants to someone from Himself.
01:42 This is called the Wahb-e-Sainthood.
01:45 And the second is the rank which a person attains through his hard work, struggle, worship and asceticism
01:55 and he pleases God so much that he becomes a friend of God, a saint and a beloved of God.
02:07 God Almighty states in the Holy Qur'an, "And those who strive to come to Us, We will surely guide them to the right path."
02:17 Those who strive to come to Us, We will surely guide them to the right path.
02:27 And then We will make it easy for them.
02:32 This is what is stated in the Hadith of Qudsi where it is stated,
02:37 (Arabic)
03:02 God Almighty states, "My servant, after having fulfilled his obligations, through his worship,
03:17 is granted by God."
03:22 (Arabic)
03:48 But if after fulfilling his duty, he gives extra time and effort and shows his loyalty to his Lord,
04:00 then the Lord is pleased.
04:02 This is the philosophy that is stated in the Hadith of Qudsi
04:06 that after fulfilling his obligations, when a person performs Nafl,
04:14 he gains so much nearness to God that he starts loving God.
04:25 He starts loving God.
04:29 And when he loves God, he becomes His ears, tongue and hands.
04:38 (Arabic)
05:00 And the last words of this Hadith are,
05:02 (Arabic)
05:08 So when do we get such glory?
05:12 What is the sign of such a person?
05:15 What is his identity? What are his attributes?
05:17 What is his character?
05:21 When we study the Holy Quran, we find that the attributes of the saints are mentioned in every single chapter of the Holy Book.
05:33 Their attributes, qualities and abilities are mentioned.
05:39 The famous verse 11 is mentioned in the verse about the glory of sainthood.
05:44 The next verse mentions the qualities and attributes of a saint.
05:48 The famous verse that is mentioned about the glory of sainthood is,
05:51 (Arabic)
05:56 This is the glory of sainthood.
05:59 The next verse mentions the qualities and attributes of a saint.
06:04 (Arabic)
06:09 Who are those saints?
06:11 (Arabic)
06:34 God has given them the wealth of righteousness.
06:38 (Arabic)
06:42 What is righteousness?
06:44 It is the fear of God.
06:46 It is the fear of God.
06:48 It is the fear of God.
06:50 (Arabic)
06:52 My Prophet said,
06:54 "Righteousness is in the heart."
06:56 Therefore, the attributes of a saint are mentioned in the biography of saints.
07:02 A person who is in seclusion, loneliness, gathering, travelling, or in a state of fear of God,
07:11 God's commandments and the system given by God,
07:18 the Shariah of Prophet Mohammad,
07:21 the Sunnah of Prophet Mohammad,
07:23 even if he turns his head away from it, he is a saint of God.
07:27 Even if he turns his head away from it.
07:29 Now, you can imagine that in the incident of Hazrat Bayazid Bustami A.R.
07:35 an incident has been narrated by Arbaab-e-Siyar that a man brought a melon to him.
07:42 He said, "My Lord, I have brought a gift for you, please accept it."
07:47 So, he picked up the melon and picked it up and smelled it.
07:51 He said, "Subhanallah, Mashallah," and he put it down.
07:55 He said, "My Lord, I have brought it for you to eat.
08:01 "It is not that you just smell it and say, 'Subhanallah,'
08:04 "you should eat it. It is a very delicious, fragrant fruit."
08:09 So, Hazrat Bayazid Bustami A.R. said, "I also know that it is a very delicious, fragrant, and fragrant fruit.
08:17 "And my heart is yearning to eat it, but I do not eat it
08:23 "because I do not know whether my master has eaten the melon or not.
08:30 "And if he has eaten it, how did he bite it?
08:33 "I am afraid that my actions will go against the Sunnah of the Prophet."
08:43 This is the character of a saint. You can imagine.
08:46 This is why Hazrat Allama Iqbal A.R. said in the context of this incident,
08:54 "Kamil-e-Bustam dar takleed fard, ijtinaab az khurdane kharbooza kard."
09:02 He said that Bustam was so perfect in his imitation of the Prophet that he avoided eating melon.
09:13 This is what a saint is. This is the definition of a saint.
09:18 This is the character of a saint.
09:21 This is not a game of flying in the air or swimming in the water.
09:28 Allah says in the Holy Quran,
09:30 "Wa ibadur Rahmanil ladheena yamshoon 'ala lardihauna"
09:34 "This is the glory of a saint."
09:36 A saint of Allah is one who walks on the earth with gentleness.
09:39 "Wa idha khatabahumul jahilun qalu salaama"
09:42 They are not quarrelsome. They greet the ignorant and pass by.
09:46 "Walladheena yabeetoon 'ala rabbihim sujjadam wa qiyama"
09:50 They spend the whole night prostrating or standing in the presence of Allah.
09:55 The Holy Quran states,
09:59 "Tatajaafa junoobuhum 'anil madhaaji'i yad'uuna rabbahum khawfum wa tamaha"
10:05 "Their sides are separate from the bed."
10:10 They remember Allah with fear and anxiety.
10:14 "In awliya'uhu illa almuttaqoon"
10:17 "The saint of Allah is the most righteous."
10:19 "Inna waliyyallahu alladheena zalal kitaab wa huwa yata walla alsaaliheen"
10:25 "Allah makes only the righteous as His saints."
10:28 "Wallau yuhibbul muhsineen"
10:31 Allah loves the most righteous.
10:35 "Muhsin" means the one who fulfils his duties and then pleads to his Lord.
10:46 This is called a "muhsin".
10:48 May Allah enable us to follow the footsteps of these pure and pious personalities.
10:56 "Wa maa alaiyya illal bala'ul mubeen"
11:00 "Mere haadi, mere rahbar"
11:08 "Mere sardar khaja hain"
11:17 "Mere munis, mere hamd"
