Captain Rishi Ramesh on USA's opening U19 cricket world cup seven wicket defeat by Ireland
Transcript
00:00 Rishi, can you just sum up your reaction to today's defeat? I think it was tough to
00:05 being put in the bat first obviously on a moist wicket it's not easy to bat
00:08 first but I think we were still quite a few runs short and credit to the Irish
00:13 Bulls they did really well. You spoke about the conditions a little bit there
00:16 can you just give us an idea of what it was like for you for your batters at the
00:20 start? I think it was quite nippy at the start obviously the Irish Bulls were
00:24 getting it to swing quite well and a few soft dismissals here and there but it
00:28 was tough to bat first at the start in my opinion and it's quite quite flattened
00:32 out at the end. You started really well with a ball did you did you think
00:38 with those quick wickets that you were starting to assert yourselves on the
00:40 game and you could claw your way back? For a moment we were quite in the game
00:44 the momentum really shifted to our side and we really put pressure on them
00:47 especially being two wickets down at the start but then they consolidated and
00:51 they took the game back into their hands. Must be a lot of positives still that you
00:55 can take from this performance right? I think our opening Bulls had a quite
00:59 positive day today getting it to swing getting a few early wickets putting
01:03 pressure on that was good for us and I'd like to see more positives out of our
01:07 batting obviously but we still have a few more games to go. Yeah brilliant and just
01:11 give us an idea you know first game in the Cricket World Cup now what must it
01:15 be like for you to lead your country into this competition? It obviously feels
01:18 great and it's a big responsibility for me and I feel very honored to be here
01:23 it's it's something we've all dreamed of and I'm just really happy to be here.
01:26 Perfect thank you. Thank you.
