00:00 Yeah, really excited. I think all the boys have been working really hard over the last few months to get to this position now.
00:05 So, to be in Johannesburg is really exciting.
00:08 What does it mean to be the captain of your country?
00:11 To captain this side is obviously pretty special. It's something that I'm extremely proud of and it's a real honour to do.
00:17 I think we've got a great group of guys which makes my job super easy. I'm very lucky.
00:22 But yeah, real privilege and I'm very grateful for the opportunity.
00:25 Individually, what can we expect from you as the player to the course of this work-up?
00:29 I don't want to get you guys to expect too much but hopefully a few runs through the middle, a few wickets and tying down some overs with the ball.
00:36 But yeah, kind of just own the game through the middle a little bit.
00:40 What would you say is your leadership style and how have you developed it over the years?
00:44 I'd say my leadership style is pretty laid back. I'm not the sort of guy to go around barking and being really controlling.
00:50 I think I've had over the last few years some awesome captains that I've played under that have sort of helped me learn and sort of develop my own style.
00:56 And kind of just put a few different flavours together to sort of create my own way of captaining.
01:02 But yeah, as I said, pretty laid back sort of leader. I look to lead with my actions rather than my words.
01:07 What would you list as the main strengths of this New Zealand Under-19 team?
01:12 The main strengths of our side, I think we've got a really good top order. It's a really young but exciting top order.
01:17 And then our pace bowling and spin bowling. All around a great side but I think that top order is definitely one of our main strengths.
01:23 What are you hoping to achieve as a unit through the CrossFitters tournament?
01:27 I think we're looking to achieve, obviously we're coming out here to win and try and win games and get on a bit of a roll.
01:32 But I think the opportunity to be here to play against the best players of our age in the world is really special.
01:38 And I think it's something we're all relishing the opportunity to do.
01:40 I think it's all about learning, just taking the opportunities as they come and just taking it game by game basis and see how far we go.
01:47 What is the cricket landscape back home like and what will it mean to the people back home supporting you to be able to do good in this tournament?
01:55 Yeah definitely. Cricket's obviously pretty big back in New Zealand.
01:57 I think we can kind of see over the last few years with the success of the men's and the women's sides just how well they've been going.
02:02 And they've kind of pulled the country along with them.
02:04 So it's definitely a game that is really popular over summer.
02:08 So yeah we've got a few guys following back home so hopefully we'll just do them proud and get on a bit of a roll.
