Dallas Cowboys 'Football Disaster!' Fire McCarthy? Hire Belichick? Jerry Jones Can't Ignore Packers Playoff Debacle
Transcript
00:00 An absolutely stunning failure, a comeuppance of the Dallas Cowboys, a violation, if you
00:08 will, of pretty much everything that you thought, or at least they thought, they stood for.
00:16 Mike Fisher reporting from AT&T Stadium, a building that we won't see again soon.
00:22 Cowboys go down 48-32 to the Green Bay Packers. Seven seeds winning first round games, that
00:31 doesn't happen. Second seeds losing in blowouts at home, that doesn't happen. The Dallas Cowboys
00:38 going 12-5 and then getting to the playoffs and then fizzling out, that does happen time
00:45 and time and time again. If you are of the mind as I've been that it would take a football
00:51 disaster for the Cowboys, Jerry Jones on down, to rethink every single thing they do, including
00:57 the job security of Mike McCarthy, including the contract for Dak Prescott. Yes, all of
01:03 those things in the wake of this need to be reconsidered. Now the Dak Prescott thing,
01:07 the salary cap is a salary cap, but there is no salary cap on coaches. Jerry Jones after
01:12 the game was asked about the job security of Mike McCarthy and said, "I haven't even
01:16 really given it any thought." That's not completely true. He did say, and I think it was wise,
01:22 that he doesn't really want to comment at this time. This is a very emotional time.
01:26 This needs to be a clinical examination and evaluation of what went wrong and what they
01:31 do about it. And of course, we'll have much more on this as we talk about it on CowboysSI.com
01:36 and on the Fish Report. If you came into this thing saying, "Well of course they're going
01:40 to fire Mike McCarthy and hire Bill Belichick or whomever," because of course Fish, when
01:48 you talk about, "Well it could be a disaster, 50 to nothing." Well of course they're going
01:51 to lose 50 to nothing or something like that. If you really saw that coming and you're a
01:55 member of the media or the fan base, if you really saw this coming, then good on you.
02:00 Because I didn't. You were right and I was wrong. I did not think the Cowboys were going
02:04 to give up 48 points in a blowout loss to the youthful Green Bay Packers, but it's happened.
02:10 Again and again and again. And now the 30 year drought, something that Mike McCarthy
02:16 has said, "Well it has nothing to do with me." Well, no, not the first 27 years of it,
02:20 not the first 26 years of it, but this painful outcome, this very much has to do with Mike
02:25 McCarthy. And now the mystical, mysterious hot seat, it's not mystical and it's not mysterious
02:34 anymore. With the Cowboys at AT&T Stadium, where they're cleaning it up and getting ready
02:39 to close the doors. Final score, Packers 48, Cowboys 32. Fish out.
