00:12 Are you partnered with an RMA Network Independent Livestock and Property Agent?
00:17 And we're here after a really successful Narrakoot Combined Agent Special PTRC female sub
00:26 with TDC, Last Record Properties, Mount Treeglown. Welcome Matt.
00:30 Tell us a bit about how the sale went today.
00:32 Yeah, thanks Catherine. I'm here at Narrakoot today for our special PTRC female sale.
00:38 We've yarded approximately 1200 cattle.
00:40 I would say above expectations or around expectations,
00:45 especially after the widespread rain that we've had in the north and even locally
00:50 and the way the weaner sales have gone.
00:52 It's probably just firmed up that job.
00:55 Most of our PTRC black heifers today are between $1500 and $2000
01:02 with a few isolated sales over $2000 to top out at $2200 I think.
01:07 So all in all if we had said six or eight weeks ago,
01:12 it probably could be $300 better than where we thought it could have been.
01:16 And what do you think people are looking for today in the heifers I suppose?
01:21 We saw a lot of repeat buyers that operate on the same cattle year in, year out.
01:26 But I think that tighter joining and like I said, a lot of repeat buyers that buy the same cattle
01:33 that are in here year in, year out that they'll go home and perform for them I think.
01:38 And then we also had a few older cows here in the yards as well.
01:43 What sort of money were they making and how did they sell?
01:46 Yeah, there was a good run of a couple of hundred probably older females.
01:50 So a couple of dispersal lines in that.
01:53 But we were probably $1400 to $1860, somewhere around about there
01:59 depending on weight and joining status.
02:02 And they were mixed, there were some black cows in that as well as some Herefords
02:07 and also a line of Murray Grey's I reckon.
02:10 So they met solid competition and yeah, we'll go on and probably a little bit reflective
02:18 of the price of what has happened in the last week with the fat job I think.
02:22 And we talk about that, I mean it is a bit more spring in people's steps here in the yards.
02:27 I mean we've still got one big Buena sale to go next week, two days.
02:32 Do you think that'll go pretty well as well?
02:34 Yeah, I think so Catherine.
02:35 Like we've seen the Western Districts having their Buena sales this week
02:41 and probably gain momentum each day really.
02:44 And now looking into next week, we've got one more big two day Buena sale.
02:50 Do you think there'll be plenty of optimism and you think that'll go well next week?
02:54 Yeah, I think so Catherine.
02:55 Like we've seen the Western Districts have their Buena sales this week
02:58 and started off strong and probably gained a little bit of momentum as they've gone along.
03:05 So hopefully expecting us to follow the same trend.
03:09 I think the rains in the north are really starting to show an effect
03:12 and the buying support is following.
03:15 Not to mention our local rain and feedlot competition
03:18 which has put a bit of optimism in the job I would say.
03:21 Which is great to see.
03:23 Alright, thanks very much Matt.
03:24 Thanks Catherine.
