00:20 And we're here after a really successful first Narakbull combined agent's weaner sale for 2024
00:26 with TDC Livestock and Property Director Rob Hanbury. Rob, welcome.
00:31 Tell us how today's steer sale went.
00:34 Yeah, thanks Catherine. Yeah, it was a terrific sale today.
00:37 We had approximately 3,300 steers here at Narakbull.
00:41 The vast majority were Angus and weaned in a March/April drop autumn calf in the sort of late range.
00:48 Most of the calves were sort of 300 to 400 kilos here today.
00:52 And you could nearly put a blanket over them as far as price goes.
00:57 Most of them made $1,100 to $1,300 with not very, very few calves under $1,000.
01:03 And the odd pen of 400 kilo black BU steers getting up to $1,400.
01:09 And I think we had a top of $1,450 on our bouts.
01:13 Excellent buy and support from up north with a couple of peak buyers come down
01:18 who have been here the last couple of years and taken cattle back up north to feed.
01:23 The normal feedlot interest and a lot of local restocker inquiry too.
01:28 I mean, it's just keep raining in the eastern seaboard, hasn't it?
01:32 And the prices we saw here today were $10, $20, maybe $30 better than before Christmas.
01:39 Yeah, I think the vendors have been rewarded well for the quality of the cattle that have been here today, that's for sure.
01:45 Tomorrow we've got about 1,500 heifers. They start at 9am.
01:50 And then we've got another big weaner sale in a fortnight where there will be a similar number as today on a Thursday and Friday, a fortnight's time.
01:57 The Narracourt facility these days, it's all the cattle were undercover, got a massive big shed out the back.
02:03 So it's an outstanding facility, soft flooring and yeah, I think it was a really good sale.
02:10 And it's good to see the cattle job slowly moving forward again and increasing.
02:15 So yeah, thanks for all the purchases and the vendors for lining up again.
02:18 Very good. Thanks very much.
