Oregon head coach Dan Lanning previews facing the Liberty Flames in the Fiesta Bowl.
Transcript
00:00 This week's been phenomenal.
00:02 I really enjoyed the opportunity that our players get to spend with each other.
00:06 Away from Oregon, experience a little bit something different in life.
00:10 I think we've had great enthusiasm and energy at our practices this week.
00:13 And I know our players have enjoyed their interactions with each other and
00:16 an opportunity to go out in the field one last time and compete.
00:20 So with that said, we can open it up.
00:22 But side note, Fiesta Bowl has been unbelievable.
00:26 At every turn, there's an answer for us, great representation.
00:32 This bowl has been first class in every shape, way possible.
00:37 It's been elite, and I've been a part of a lot of great bowl games, but
00:39 this is as good as they come.
00:41 >> Thanks, Coach, for saying that.
00:43 I'm gonna start off, when people talk about this year's Ducks,
00:45 they talk about and start with Bo Nix.
00:47 So I'm gonna start today with Bo Nix.
00:49 One stat is that he's only had three interceptions for
00:52 the whole year in 13 games.
00:54 In FBS this season, there have been 70 games in which the quarterback has had
00:59 three interceptions in that game.
01:01 So what makes Bo so special with his ball control, decision making, and
01:04 completion percentage?
01:05 >> Yeah, Bo's been a really accurate passer this season.
01:08 I think it starts with decision making, knowing where to take the ball.
01:11 Even one of those interceptions hit our guy right in the chest.
01:14 So he's done a great job of protecting the ball.
01:16 And when you do that, you have an opportunity to win games.
01:18 I think he's sitting here on the verge of, he has an opportunity.
01:22 I think it's a tough opportunity, but
01:23 has an opportunity to finish as the NCAA's leading passer as far as accuracy.
01:28 This year when it comes to completion percentage, so
01:30 he's done a really good job of completing throws.
01:32 And that's where it starts, but not turning the ball over.
01:35 >> All right, we'll open the floor.
01:36 Start with Jen Ortiz here from Arizona Republic.
01:40 Ava, right here.
01:43 Thank you.
01:46 [BLANK_AUDIO]
01:55 >> Go ahead.
01:56 >> I can hear you.
01:57 >> Yeah, we can just say it.
01:58 >> Okay, I just wanna know what it's been for you, what it's meant for
02:02 you to have [INAUDIBLE] and Bucky Irving playing in this final game?
02:07 >> Yeah, it means the world.
02:09 As much for me as it is for them, right?
02:12 Like anybody that's a competitor wants that opportunity to go out there and
02:14 compete.
02:15 And I think a lot of people will sit there and say, what are you playing for?
02:18 Like an opportunity to go play with your brothers one last time,
02:20 an opportunity to win 12 games for the fifth time in Oregon history.
02:23 There's a lot of reasons to get to go do that.
02:26 And guys like Brandon and Bucky, at one point,
02:29 I think Bucky was kinda unsure what he wanted to do.
02:31 And I said, hey, sleep on it, man.
02:33 Think on it, this is your decision.
02:34 These are tough decisions to make.
02:37 And he came back and said, I wouldn't feel right in my stomach if I didn't play in
02:40 this game.
02:41 Like it bothered me, even thinking about the possibility of not
02:44 competing in this game.
02:45 And that's the kind of guys, that's the way they're wired.
02:47 Speaks volumes about what they wanna do and
02:50 what the legacy they wanna leave here at Oregon when they're done playing.
